  1. Hey all! I've just pulled the trigger on a computer which Brad's given me a ton of help putting together. Shipping from the US to Norway would have meant a painful lot of money in shipping and taxes, but even if that was out of the question he still wanted to help me find the proper parts, which I could then buy locally. Communicating with Brad has been nothing but a positive experience. He's got a wealth of knowledge and was able to answer all the questions I had in a very informative way. I can't recommend him enough for anyone who's looking for a new computer. Thanks!
  2. Wow, that was absolutely crazy and I wanted it to last forever. Well done!
  3. Hey everyone! The game is out and so is the soundtrack Have a listen here http://fredrikdronen.bandcamp.com/album/winds-of-trade Steam page for the game can be found here http://store.steampowered.com/app/576260
  4. Hey! Thanks a lot! Afraid I missed Uncharted Waters, as I was never a console guy, but I remember playing High Seas Trader on the Amiga. Been hooked on these sort of games ever since!
  5. Hi! Long time lurker and occasional contributor (http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02441, http://mm25.ocremix.org/ and http://esther.ocremix.org/) here. I'm currently composing for my first video game, a business simulator set during the age of sail called Winds of Trade. The game is a nice mix of mechanics and aesthetics that can be found in games like Port Royale, Transport Tycoon, Heroes of Might and Magic and Mount and Blade. Musically, it's an incredibly fun challenge, as the score demands a certain amount of historical accuracy while fitting and functioning with the gameplay at the same time. Here's one of the tracks I've written som far https://soundcloud.com/fredrikdronen/voyages-of-a-despatch-vessel The game is currently on Steam Greenlight and needs a gentle push to get through http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=811054952 Feel free to check it out, and if you do and like it enough to vote for it to be released, I'm incredibly thankful! - Fredrik
  6. Man, I love that rythmic chord synth in the left ear! 0:43 --->
  7. Excellent work everyone! And thank/curse you Abadoss, for making your track so good that I can't stop listening to it.
  8. I'm currently working as a composer and sound designer on a small indie game with a dev form my hometown (Bergen, Norway). Other than that I always compose new stuff that occationally ends up here: https://soundcloud.com/fredrikdronen Gaming wise I've recently had a go at Endless Legend, which is amazing. I would recommend it to all Civ fans. My day job is being a lawyer at The Norwegian Competition Authority, and my son is now 1,5 years old as well as being the most awesome guy in the world! Totally unbiased, ofcourse.
  9. Wow, I didn't know Zool and Lotus III had the same track! Good to see a fellow countryman delivering an awesome remix of one of my favourite vgm tracks
  10. I just attended a VGM concert called "Score" in Norway, and this piece just completely blew me away: I had never heard it before, didn't know anything about the story or characters in the game, and still I was all goosebumps and tears by the end of it. Imagine what I would have been like if I had built up a connection with the game and the story. That's what I love about video game music. How it can stand alone as great pieces of music, and at the same time forge incredibly powerful connections with the gamers who spend hours listening to them while experiencing all kinds of memorable in-game moments. Might not be quite what you're after, but I thought I'd share my latest "feels"-moment with you
  11. Thanks for the feedback, glad you liked it!
  12. The part of me that adores games like Port Royale, High Seas Trader, Pirates, Monkey Island and POTBS got a bit restless, so I made a track called "The Old Captain". https://soundcloud.com/fredrikdronen It's all the way up there, by the 508 bottles of beer on the wall.
  13. Thanks, Nase! Btw, I visited your fuckin forest of illusion and barely made it out. Crazy stuff. The good kind of crazy
  14. Thanks man! I agree on the samples I don't know if it's the nostalgia or the limitations they set, but working with rudimentary samples is incredibly fun!
  15. Hey! Just for fun, I took a shot at making a few tunes I believe would fit the old arcade racers from the 80's and 90's. I tried to recreate the general style of the time, with all its cheesiness and badly sampled instruments. https://soundcloud.com/fredrikdronen Have a listen to "Midnight City Course" and "Cabriolet Cruisin'", and let me know what you think!
  16. Project Reality mods for all released and upcoming Battlefield titles post Battlefield 2!
  17. Wow! (No pun intended) I get the good kind of chills every time I hear that last vocal part. For me, this track converts WoW to LOTRO I've listened through your posted remixes, and I'm impressed with how well you handle such a vast array of (incredibly unique and interesting) instruments, as well as your voice.
  18. Well, I find remixing to be too much fun and too much of a challenge to ever leave behind. Expect some activity in here soon ;)

Hope the house hunt works out for you! Just been through that myself.

  19. Thanks man! That means a lot coming from such a distinguished remixer as yourself. As for what I'm up to, it's essentially four things: Taking care og my family (just got a son), minding my day job, gigging live with the few bands I still have time for and developing my own portfolio and skills towards making music for games.

    How about you?

  20. Wow, thanks a lot! It was a fun piece to do. And almost beating Willrock made it even more fun, hehe.

  21. Just have to say, "Adamantium Slinky Goes to Space (Hard Man vs. Spring Man)", from the GRMRB2011, is one of the most interesting remixes I've heard!
