  1. Not sure if I will have much time if it is not in the summer, but I'm in!
  2. Damn so close! Congrats to Mark Sparling, and good job everyone, it was a fun round.
  3. I actually disliked the movie too. It had so much potential, the character and costume design was amazing, the action was impeccable, the way the film tells you a story without the need of narration through little details, (the way they spray chrome in their mouths as a ritual to get prepared to enter Valhalla, the way they view fighting as something divine, worshiping their steering wheels), the soundtrack was awesome.. But then a 2 and a half hour action car chase with barely any plot.. It became repetitive and boring for me quick. Not my type of movie I definitely see how this movie can be labeled as feminist. I think the director wanted to break the mold of the overdone style of movie where the female is always saved by the male (where they eventually develop a relationship), deaths are treated in slow motion with a lot of emphasis, etc. It was cool to see one of the mothers fall down and die, and the movie just kept going. It didn't slow down to let it "sink in", and didn't add any typical sad music. Also no ageism. An old woman can be a badass warrior too, which was really cool.
  4. YAY! I realized I couldn't use the vst that sci originally uploaded because it's only for windows, not mac. But this is a sound font and these are the ACTUAL animal crossing sounds, so this is awesome. Oh man I am so ready to make some cheesy music.
  5. sounds like the animal crossing voices! I like it thanks for sharing
  6. Ok. But I'm curious then how can remixers like Joshua Morse release a full video game remix album and profit out of it? Wouldn't that be copyright infringement as well?
  7. Yea I understand, I guess referencing was the wrong word. Another Question. The reviewer also complained about megaman samples, which we have throuout the whole song. The samples are just sound effects. Is that a problem too?
  8. Hardly a solo? I was talking about my song, not the battle theme. I took a main riff from the battle theme of FF and used it as a solo. If I used it as the main melody of the song then it would be clear I am ripping them off. Ok so I guess as long as I don't sell that song I should be fine, but since the game with the song is being sold it should be changed. Thanks
  9. I never claimed it was safe just because we altered it a tiny bit. I thought it was safe because 1. It is just a solo 2. The song is about video games, and 3. The style is chiptune. But yea maybe it wasn't such a good idea to do that.
  10. So my band makes video game hip hop music. An indie game maker asked to have our music be part of a video game his 13-year old son was making. We agreed. The game got released, and a guy reviewed the game on his website. When he got to the soundtrack, he praised it, but criticized one of our songs song saying that we stole the riff of the "final fantasy battle theme", slightly altering it. We did use the final fantasy battle theme as a solo, but as an homage to the game we love. The song is about video games (we use megaman samples throughout the song), so we thought it would be a perfect fit. Is this ripping off music? Are we in trouble? 11. This is really cool what you are doing. I'm very interested, gonna PM you.
  12. A remix of a remix, remixception. (I love the brawl version) But seriously, I like it, the biggest problem is the drums sound very fake and are repetitive, and the guitar sounds like it needs an upgrade. Maybe also you can have a part where the beat and the mood changes in the middle, to have more contrast in the song. I think a realistic drum VST with humanization added would make it much better. Also, I don't know if the guitar is midi or recorded. If it is midi, same thing, a better virtual Instrument would improve it. If you recorded it yourself, I'm not sure, maybe you have to master the guitar track to make it sound more bright.
  13. I think I was signing up for that website mamamedia when I was little. I liked foxes and was a fan of the tintin comics, and tintin's dog is named snowy. None were available, and the website recommended me the handle: fxsnowy.
  14. good stuff as always It reminds me of the portal soundtrack a little.
  15. aww ok, so Im guessing "The Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse" is not allowed?
  16. So I'm assuming a Mickey Mouse game would be ok, right? Since Mickey Mouse's first appearance was in a cartoon show.
  17. I'd like to sign up as a novice and claim Geoffrey if possible.
  18. I made this 80's style (kind of, at least the drums) boss battle theme for a video game called Galligan's Island. Any feedback is appreciated! https://soundcloud.com/fxsnowy/boss-battle
  19. Can you explain what is meant by "phasing issues"? Great post by the way.
  20. I'll sign up as a novice, I choose The Evil King Bowser from Super Mario World
  21. Dude this is so awesome, I love the megaman 8 OST music and 80's music, this is like the perfect remix for me!
