  1. I only have one suggestion: have the violin part (at 0:41) switch to a different instrument (flute/oboe, perhaps) around 1:10 and pan that instrument right. It feels unbalanced from 0:41 to 1:46 as it is now. I really like what you have so far! I can't wait to hear where you take this mix!
  2. I think the intro synth could be a tad louder. As others have already said, your piece would really benefit from live sax. When all is said and done, you should submit this; it's a great remix.
  3. Much better! I really like the ending. Great job!
  4. To me, it sounds muddy in some areas because certain instruments are crowding a certain part of the soundspace (vague, I know). Use panning to spread them out. When the oboe and flute come in together near the end, they both sound like they're panned center. I would recommend panning one left and one right. It also sounds crowded whenever the violins come in with the double basses. Keep up the good work! I'm looking forward to hearing the next version.
  5. I lowered the volume of the chimes/bells and made a couple slight panning tweaks: https://soundcloud.com/willpisani/phendrana-drifts-redux-12-31 I have been listening to music from the Halo series recently, perhaps some of the style rubbed off on me.
  6. Here's the link to the final version: https://soundcloud.com/willpisani/phendrana-drifts-redux-12-27. Thank you for all of your feedback. For the choir, I tried using two slightly detuned samples, but it didn't sound very good so I nixed it. I tried using a soprano soloist, but, again, it sounded off. What I ended up doing was decreasing the velocity of the notes after the first note of each phrase. I think the roboticness is less noticeable, now.
  7. Original: My Version: https://soundcloud.com/willpisani/phendrana-drifts-redux-12-6 Final Version: https://soundcloud.com/willpisani/phendrana-drifts-redux-12-31 Phendrana Drifts Redux is an orchestral arrangement of Phendrana Drifts that I'm working on for Metroid Reorchestrated. Though comments regarding arrangement are welcome, I'm mainly looking for production issues (EQ, panning, humanization, etc.).
  8. Dude, no one bit your line over at the Zelda Reorchestrated forums and I highly doubt that anyone is going to bite here. You're just going to have to learn to do it yourself. If you're really interested in a Looney Tunes Reorchestration project, start one yourself. It's like that baseball movie Field of Dreams; if you build it, they will come.
  9. If you look at PC manufacturers like Dell or HP, pretty much all of the computers under the gaming section would work fairly well for making music. The specifications for a great music PC would be similar to the following: a multi-core processor like an Intel Core i7-3820 8 GB (or more) of ram 1 TB (or more) of hard drive space a video card similar to an AMD Radeon HD 7500 series a sound card similar to a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium
  10. The sound library with the best bang for your buck would be East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Silver priced at $200.
  11. Thank you for your feedback. I appreciate it. I had forgotten that I had tweaked the piece (panning, volume, etc.) a few days ago. Here's a link to the tweaked piece: http://soundcloud.com/willpisani/mt-coronet-redux-final.
  12. Echoing what the others have said, your piece needs dynamic variation and would really benefit from a live performance.
  13. Mt. Coronet was my favorite area in Pokemon Pearl, largely because of the epic music ( ). I did a cover of the music back in 2010 (https://www.box.com/shared/f53o78g769), but I didn't feel like I did the song justice. So several weeks ago, I decided to try again with a full orchestral arrangement. This (http://soundcloud.com/willpisani/mt-coronet-redux-6-21-2012) is the result. Thoughts?
  14. Here's a link to my arrangement: http://soundcloud.com/willpisani/metroid-prime-2-echoes-title. Here's a link to the original: .This song is a redux (version 2.0, if you will) of a song I did a while back for Metroid Reorchestrated. Since this song is essentially a straight cover, I'm mainly looking for suggestions regarding humanization, instrumentation, EQ, volume, panning, etc. Thanks!
  15. Thanks for the reply, overwhelmed, but I decided to try my luck and submitted it yesterday. If it gets rejected I'll definitely follow your advice and rework the ending.
  16. I've finally gotten around to tweaking the ending. Here's a link to the final version: http://soundcloud.com/willpisani/minecraft-calming-dawn-4-21.
  17. Here's the revised version: http://soundcloud.com/willpisani/minecraft-calming-dawn-comp I believe I have addressed the panning, compression, and eq'ing issues; I also amplified it. I'm not sure how to humanize the strings beyond the humanize tool in Reaper. Any pointers? I haven't changed/added to the ending, but I'm toying with the notion of ending the remix how it started. Thoughts?
  18. SwordBreaker, you are awesome! Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean is in my top 10 favorite video games. I'm not very experienced at remixing, but I'd love to take a track, if you'll have me. My skills are mainly in the orchestral genre.
  19. Source: My Arrangement:http://soundcloud.com/willpisani/kraids-lair-wip This is an orchestral cover of Kraid's Lair from Metroid: Zero Mission. I'm in a bit of a rut with regard to arrangement (i.e. writer's block). How does it sound so far? Any suggestions on arrangement?
  20. Thank you, Rozovian, for the mod review. I'll work on these issues as soon as I find the time.
  21. Glad you like it! As long as you give me credit, feel free to use it however you like. Yeah, pretty much, but listening to the excellent remixes on OCReMix and trying to emulate them has helped a lot.
  22. Overall, much better; I'm really digging this. The only thing I can think of that would make it better is adding a solo at 2:20 until the melody comes back in at 2:39. Keep up the good work!
  23. Your remix as it stands now is good, though a bit short and slightly repetitive. Here are a few suggestions: Instead of having your remixed melody come in at 0:45, use the original melody first then transition into your melody. The synth you're using for the melody sounds okay, but I think it would suit the part better if you used a synth that had more bite to it. Incorporate more of the source. Right now it sounds like you're only using the first 1:15. Extend the choir part at 1:23 and do more with it. The male choir sounds really cool and Metroid-esque. Crossfade the choir at 2:36 with the first three seconds of the intro so you have a little buildup before the fade out.
  24. Here's the finished song: http://soundcloud.com/willpisani/minecraft-sweden-2 Any and all feedback is much appreciated!
  25. Here's a link to the track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=EqORLlPg-84. I'd like to see (hear, rather) this song remixed in a trance style. Thank you!
