  1. This is pretty interesting! Musically, your lyrics are integrated really well. For most of it though, I feel like your vocals' volume could be boosted a bit. Also, the mix sounds too close to the middle for my ears. Moving your additions out left and right via panning would help with that feeling.
  2. If this is your first remix, I can't wait to hear what you do in the future! It's a bit rough in places, but overall it's a very enjoyable listen.
  3. Subscribed! All great songs to remix. It'll be interesting to hear where you take your teasers from here.
  4. This is really good so far! I love the atmosphere when the bass and drum comes in at 0:21-0:22. It really evokes sea/ocean imagery. I've love to hear where you take this next! Maybe you could pass the melody from the bells to a lower pitched instrument and have the bells come in to emphasize certain parts?
  5. Definitely! I always enjoy listening to and giving feedback on Metroid remixes. I especially enjoy Metroid Prime trilogy remixes because there aren't very many of them (compared to the rest of the games). Feel free to PM me if you like. And thanks for the kind words!
  6. This is pretty good! Turning a 35 second source into a 5 minute remix that introduces new instruments and does something different is definitely not easy. I can feel the bedtime story inspiration in your remix. Your soundscape sounds good, but at the same time, I feel like it's a bit off sometimes. Maybe I'm mishearing things tonight, but it sounds a bit like your lead instruments are panned center. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but changing the panning direction (left/right) slightly between leads (flute to guitar to piano, etc.) can reduce hearing fatigue. Maybe someone else can comment on the panning/soundscape? Overall, great job! I think you should submit this once you're done; to my ears, this has a good chance of passing.
  7. Jazz fusion is a great, but underplayed genre when it comes to video game music (at least in my experience). I'm glad to see (and hear) you working to correct this. Regarding this cover, there's nothing I would change. It sounds awesome! I hope you're successful in releasing an album.
  8. This is a beautiful arrangement of Midna's Lament. The icy theme works really well. My only complaint is the low volume level, but that's been addressed already. Overall, great job! I hope to see this on the front page soon.
  9. This is awesome! I'm looking forward to seeing this on the front page as a new OCReMix.
  10. Thanks for the help, everyone! I've decided against a sound card for now, but may add something in the near future once I get everything set up. I appreciate the advice, though. What do you think of my build? Here's the link: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/f9Zmm8. This is my first PC build so I may have overlooked something. With this build I'm going for the ability to do some small simulations (hence the Xeon) from time to time, some gaming, and, of course, arranging music. Thanks!
  11. I'm working on a build of a new PC and I'm wondering if a discrete sound card would be a good idea. I haven't decided on the other components of the PC, yet, but the overall budget is $1000. For music making, I use Reaper with EWQLSO Gold and EWQLSC. What sound cards under $100 would you recommend? Thanks!
  12. Yeah, I think switching treble to bass and vice-versa would work. In terms of an orchestra, what I mean is that you could have the tubas play the flutes' part and vice versa. A lot of electronic music that I've listened to has the melody pitched high rather than pitched low. As long it's not muddy, it could be interesting to hear the melody played with low notes.
  13. I'm really enjoying this. I think the section after 1:47 would benefit from additional sound effects thrown in occasionally. It would also be good to change it up slightly somewhere around 2:15 to keep things interesting. Maybe you could swap the high and low voices, swap their parts? I'd love to hear where you take the song from here.
  14. What if you transitioned into a rock section starting at 0:46? You already have a drum set in the song so that could help the transition.
  15. I actually really like the key change at 1:14, it breaks up the piece nicely. At 1:51, maybe bring out the background mallets a little. I like that your remix moves forward with ideas (like 2:24) and isn't just static. It's interesting to hear the remix go from kind of angry to happy back to angry and then happy again. Production sounds okay to me, but maybe someone with more experience has suggestions? Overall, I enjoyed listening to your remix. Good work!
  16. I've updated the timeline to be MUCH more realistic: teaser tracks on X-mas 2016 and the full album on Nov 17, 2017. I feel like a full release is easier to work on and complete than a rolling release schedule. How's everyone doing?
  17. Thank you very much for the feedback! I appreciate it. Below is the "final" version of my soundscape cover (I added forest sounds). "Final" Version: https://soundcloud.com/willpisani/chrono-trigger-secret-of-the-forest What do you think?
  18. I really like this! The egg shakers are a nice touch. Great job! I'm looking forward to your "Battle with Magus" cover.
  19. Hey everyone! I did an orchestral cover of the credits theme from Castlevania: Circle of the Moon (great game). What do you think? Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thanks! 20. I really enjoyed your song! I'm in the same boat as you with EWQLSO Gold; I'd love to have the close and hall mics available for more sound.
  21. It's pretty good! I'll try out your software on Linux Mint at some point this weekend or next week (my Thanksgiving break).
  22. Echoing Timaeus, the intro 0:00 - 0:11 could be wider in soundscape. But then again, the narrowness helps give more impact to 0:12. I really like all of the drum/trapset effects.
  23. Definitely an enjoyable listen! I really like the soundscape.
  24. The Mass Effect influence is very clear and it's great! The only bad thing about Mass Effect music is that there is not enough of it. Yes, the "instruments" playing the melodies really need to be louder. Let them shine. I would also change the lead 3:48 to the end. It sounds a bit generic. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like pretty much everything is centered in the stereo field. Try panning things out left and right. Bass is fine being centered (provides foundation). Your transition at 2:04 sounded great! It might sound like the transition at 3:11 could use some work, but I think it works pretty well. You let the previous section fade a little bit before switching it up. You have an excellent start here! I can't wait to hear what you do with this track.
