  1. Voted! Lots of enjoyable mixes that didn't make much use of one source or the other (mainly Pirate Island), so my choices mainly came down to that.
  2. That's Roger Rabbit for the NES, which was made by Rare, not Capcom (they did the Game Boy one only). In fact, I just learned that David Wise did the soundtrack to this one.And apparently Mickey Mousecapade was only published by Capcom, and only in the U.S. It was developed by Hudson, which explains why this music sounds a heck of a lot more like Adventure Island than Mega Man.
  3. There are already so many great remixes out there of The Moon--4 of the 5 DuckTales remixes on OCR use it, and you can't research DuckTales music on YouTube without tripping on 2 or 3 more. I'd personally rather see a different entry from DuckTales, like or .I second Rescue Rangers as well; the one I can never get out of my head is but some other good ones are , , and the final and awesome, Wily-esque --if sounding like Mega Man music is a decision criterion, you can't do better than that one.I never played Darkwing Duck--I was in high school by then--but I'm listening to the soundtrack now, and yeah, it's pretty good. I'm going in round 3, and if I get something from there I'll be OK with it. The resonates with me.
  4. I'd like to make just one request: Since you've now established that there may be pretty significant surprises, can you at least give us some warning in advance of when this sort of thing may happen? Not the content, but so we can schedule things among our team members. Our team has chosen our order of participation based on upcoming travel plans, so if you're going to throw a monkey wrench into that we need to be able to work around it as much as possible.
  5. Waltdisney/Capcom Remix Gauntlet. Given that there were 11 eligible Mega Man games and there are 20 eligible Disney games, and that any source from those 20 games can be chosen rather than just the 2-5 Wily themes, if anything this helps.
  6. This. I'm very worried that even if everyone says they're OK with it, there will end up being a lot of no-shows because people either can't come up with anything for exactly this reason, or because people aren't sufficiently motivated to work on this instead of other things they might be doing. Voting will probably also have low turnout.
  7. When I first saw that, I was worried everyone was going to ragequit. While many of these games do have great soundtracks, this is definitely not what we signed up for. I'm game, but I really was looking forward to the Wily sources. So much for studying up on the Wily themes.... Reference: http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Disney_games_by_Capcom and http://disney.wikia.com/wiki/Capcom (neither list is complete) I hope Duck Tales is round 3 of a block. Otherwise there may be fistfights. Edit: Better list: Adventures in the Magic Kingdom NES Aladdin Multi Bonkers SNES, Sega Mega Drive/Genesis Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers NES Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers 2 NES Darkwing Duck NES, Game Boy Disney's Hide and Sneak Nintendo GameCube Disney's Magical Mirror Starring Mickey Mouse Nintendo GameCube Disney's Magical Quest SNES, Game Boy Advance Disney's Magical Quest 2: The Great Circus Mystery SNES, Sega Mega Drive / Genesis, GBA Disney's Magical Quest 3 SNES(Japan only), Game Boy Advance DuckTales NES, Game Boy DuckTales 2 NES, Game Boy Goof Troop Super Nintendo Entertainment System Magical Tetris Challenge Multi Mickey Mousecapade NES Mickey's Dangerous Chase Game Boy TaleSpin Multi The Little Mermaid NES, Game Boy Who Framed Roger Rabbit Game Boy
  8. But Darkesword said that Mr. X "is probably my #1 most favorite Mega Man song ever," so he might well choose it again. Hopefully this time the winner will be someone who isn't so doped up on cold meds he can't think straight. There are still a ton of excellent sources left. I think Dark Man is all but a given at some point (MM5 only has two eligible themes, both are awesome, and the other was picked last time), but the rest could be anything.
  9. Trying to view it directly gets me a Permission Denied, so I think Cosmic Sounds can see it but nobody else can.
  10. I didn't add up most of the rounds, but my impression was that Blue Blur had a significant majority.
  11. My feelings are much like Deia's. The one very short part of the source gets a whole lot of attention, especially but not entirely for the entire first half, I did feel like it got old. And the total changeup to piano & pad at 2:48 was too much for me. I actually thought ending sequence worked better; even though I'm not a huge fan of fade-outs, it kept the guitar going, so at least it seemed like part of the same song. The metal playing is great, there's a lot to like about many of the arrangement decisions, and production and soundscape are pretty solid. Looking forward to seeing more growth from this remixer.
  12. I bet it's and we all have to make a mix using his theme.Either that or it's Darkesword himself and we all lose if we don't beat the remix he's going to work on for the next 10 weeks. (In Loopy.)
  13. Looks awesome. I was going to ask if you could use the Wily Castle from that particular Robot Master's game, but Mega Man 1 and Powered Up don't have one, and 8's is both hideous and hard to remove from its background. Fourteen teams, 14 colors. It can be done, but they won't all look pretty or easy to distinguish in a flash.Just noticed that we have a team called the Gobots. That took me by surprise (I was thinking these), but they really are just an obscure Mega Man 7 enemy.
  14. Sadly, Supra-Force Metal is not discovered until some two centuries after the core Mega Man series. Pretty sure the team names can't be Mega Man X/Zero/ZX/Legends/Battle Network themed.
  15. Wow, the GBA versions of King and Wily from MM&B are horrible.Trism, Cash and Change, and I are going with "Capitals of Science" as our team name. I just remembered that it was a rejected name from last time (albeit with SCIENCE!!!), but seeing as how we actually have Knight Man on our team, plus electricity and a frog, it seems appropriate.
  16. After about 12 times listening to this section, I finally heard what you're talking about. It's a very synth-y piano, so it took me a while to even figure out the part you were referring to, and the use of Mega Water S is heavily, heavily modified. It uses the same note lengths, but the pitches are all different. At most I would call it vaguely inspired by Mega Water S.
  17. The system does have some mathematical oddities. For instance, if both your first and second picks are extremely popular, you may have better-than-even odds at getting the second pick. For instance, say 4 other people pick Quick Man as their first choice, and another 4 pick Metal Man as their first. You pick Quick Man first, then Metal Man. You then have a 1/5 chance of getting Quick Man, so you probably won't. One person will be chosen to get Metal Man. Next phase, you're competing against only one person for Metal Man, assuming no one else lost their first choice and has Metal Man as their second. Net result: you have a (0.8 * 0.5) 40% chance of getting Metal Man even though you're fighting 4 other people for him. Also assuming you don't get ousted on someone's third, fourth, or fifth picks. tl;dr: It's possible to game the system, but everyone will get results they're happier with if you don't try. Far better to rearrange your list to avoid popular choices if you can still get someone you're happy with that way.
  18. 40 people with picks listed now, though many are not in stated teams. Assuming everyone finds a team, this is already bigger than last time. Five more people and half the Robot Masters that exist will end up being represented. Hopefully five picks per person will be enough! I sure don't expect to earn any votes, with so many kickass remixers on the roster, but I think I'll be too busy listening to awesome music to care.
  19. And week 5: Fiesta Con Las Ardillas y El Hombre Ra faga: Hm, Google is failing me on "Ra faga." Integration isn't bad, actually. It's just alternating, but both parts sound like part of a whole. You can tell where one source ends and the other begins easily enough (with really good "vs." remixes, you can't), and the transitions could be a bit smoother, but it doesn't feel like two separate songs stapled together. The fade-out is weaksauce, and the instrumentation is too much like the original Green Grove Zone for my comfort, but this is still head and shoulders above your other mixes so far. Burst Grove Man Zone 3D: So the mighty Theory of Nonexistence manages to exist in the compo... just barely. Snappy arrangement, definitely still favors the Green Grove aesthetic. Nice original content, something that the other 11 of us struggle a lot with. Good riffing on the themes, too. Oddly not really any more integration of the two themes than NovaReaper, they basically just alternate. Considering I know how good you are, and how stoked you were about this entry, I actually expected a lot more. Probably would have been better as a standalone Green Grove remix. Neptune's Voyage to Atlantis: I don't really have anything to say about this one that I haven't said about your other mixes. Nice ambient, aquatic sound, pleasant use of Neptune. Cop-out ending. Do Not Pass Go Do Not Collect $200: Hearing acoustic guitar Quick Man, I have to fight the expectation that The Megas will start singing. Solid integration of the themes, though it's more of the taking-turns sort of integration, and I'm still hearing Temple of Fiends. I can't understand why you focus so much on the harmony parts of Prison Lane when the melody is so badass. Weak fade-out ending. Definitely feels like a rest week for you. Rainfall in Eco-Dome Viridian: Pretty much the same Mr. L stuff I've been saying all along. 1:44 before the second theme comes in is a bit much, and the other parts don't even acknowledge that it happened, they just keep doing their thing.
  20. Review time! Starting with round 6, 'cuz I was in it. Chrome Cafe: A little more cohesive than some of your other entries, but the parts aren't always in tune with each other. A little too much randomness in the sax scat. Something I learned when doing my own sax piece is that one of the tricks to maxing the sax sound good is to use a few "Hard" notes at appropriate places. It's tricky to choose where, but the results are good. Mosfungus Bombs: Well... keep working on it. These sources don't inherently play well together, so it's understandable that you had a hard time with it. But your samples and production have improved, so you really just have to keep working on the arrangements themselves. A couple of big things that could be improved here are the drums (boring) and the ending (nonexistent). Mega Yeezus Man: Interesting take on Marble Zone. A minute and thirteen seconds of it was too much, though. 30 seconds would have been plenty. No integration between the sources, obviously. And I gather your use of voice clips at the end was your way of saying you gave up. Eighth Marble from the Sun: Hmm... I get the feeling you have become very bored with Marble Zone, considering how much you changed it this time around. Keep working on integration! I really, really liked your take on Neptune, especially from 3:13 on, but there just wasn't nearly enough of it. There's a lot of fun stuff here, it just isn't cohesive. Hydroplane Zone: Clearly out of your comfort zone. I'm glad you're willing to experiment, but this shallow soundscape definitely doesn't suit you. Minimalism works well with orchestral samples, not so well with synths. Still having a tough time with source usage. Sometimes you really need to beat the melody part over the head. 1:04-1:36 sounds strangely like Heat Man in Final Fantasy VII. A Gaol of Strings: Gaah, why does my production always sound so good in isolation and so bad when I listen to it later? In any event, I'm very happy with the arrangement of this one, especially the interplay of the two themes. Lots of melody-used-as-harmony going on here, and it generally worked really well. Tuberz gave me a great source to work with--thanks!--and I used it to the fullest. I intend to take this one to the WIP forums to improve the production, and then I think it will be a pretty strong candidate for OCR. Out with a Bang: Heh, I recognize the Cryogen MIDI for Mega Water S here--I used it myself and had to take extra steps to make it sounds more like the original than his remix. Mega Water S is a pretty short source, and you played it several times with very little modification, which got a bit old after a while. I wish you'd use Prison Lane more, it's a really awesome source and you barely do more than hint at it in any of your mixes. In this one, it ends up sounding a lot like the Temple of Fiends from Final Fantasy I. Otherwise, it is of course very good, and easily the best entry I went up against.
  21. It's technically a Wily theme, so maybe Darkesword will be nice and pick it.
  22. There's competition over Gravity Man. I'm fairly certain that's a sign that this is the Mega Man compo to end all Mega Man compos.
  23. And Spinning Cat Buzzsaw doesn't have quite the same ring to it. More badass, though.
  24. 1. Briggs gets Metal Man 2. SuperiorX gets Sheep Man 3. SuperiorX gets stuck doing Wily 2-2 @Jakesnke17: Sweet, Gravity Man is possibly my favorite source of the whole series. I know you'll do a great job on it. Edit: Fun fact: There are 89 eligible themes, and we already have 28 people who've listed their picks (and a couple more who have teams but no picks yet). That's basically a full third of the entire Robot Master roster represented. So yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of people ended up with their fifth choices.
