  1. YES Sir Jordanius we have met! I was the one that emailed you. I have the Sega Genesis Collection on PSP and I think I've played only Kid Chameleon a bunch, and maybe Sonic or Sonic 2 a few times. But it also has Comix Zone and Vectorman as you mentioned so I'll have to check those out as well. I literally never saw the end of KC until maybe a year ago on youtube, and seeing someone else do it kind of gave me the confidence to do it myself. But as a kid, it was always that game that I could never beat but always kept trying. The music is amazing, I still have no real idea who Nu Romantic Productions is other than googling a few names like Mark Miller. Is he even still composing? The music is funky, groovy, .. very well put together. I'm really looking forward to hearing your remix. I actually started one yesterday and posted it in the WIP forums and got some really good feedback so far, but most of the stuff mentioned went over my head as my production skills/knowledge are pretty minimal.. but I'm excited to study up on it and work on it some more.
  2. Haha, maybe that's what it is, maybe not many people love this game cuz it really was just that damn hard .. but for me it's a frustrating classic. Or maybe it's an acquired taste. I actually just got my PSP version back today after letting my brother borrow it. Let the fun times begin again.
  3. Kid Chameleon will have its day in the sun, and I will stop at nothing until it does. I mean, I started this remix today partly because I believe this game doesn't nearly get as much attention and love as it should and I LOVE this game and the music. I only saw one ATTEMPT at a KC remix on this site, which ended up being rejected for now, so here's my attempt to bring some love to this game. Please help me make this track better and develop my skills. Thanks. My Remix: http://soundcloud.com/drumj8/pursuit-of-safety_2012-06-16 Source:
  4. Dish is exactly what I'm talking about. Just me and Trism huh? More Kid Chameleon for us then heh. I actually recently contacted someone regarding their Kid Chameleon remix, and I started working on one today, yay. I'll post it in the WIP forum soon. If you haven't played it, I highly suggest it, at least try it. It's from 1992 but it definitely holds up for me.
  5. I think it sounds good although I am not familiar with the source track; you have these long stretches of repeating phrases that can get repetitive. Even slight changes can make it sound more varied like adding percussion or changing rhythm. You could also try modulating at a certain point to make a drastic change. With that repeating phrase, it almost sounds like you're building up to some sort of climax but there is no climax in the track. The dynamics are pretty static too, there is a slight dip in the middle and then it comes back up again. Maybe try playing around with dynamics to help with variation as well.
  6. Ya no problem. The melancholic sound definitely works, but a few changes/additions here and there could help with the arrangement.
  7. Both of mine were toward the bottom as well, but .. at least we showed up, right? We are among the 30 that entered this competition. Think of how many people in the whole world who didn't enter this competition.. probably like billions right? But seriously, it was fun and a learning experience. And the votes were pretty varied .. my top pick wasn't in the top 15.
  8. There were 34 remixes for the contest but due to ties, there were 28 placements and this remix placed 25. I want to learn and progress as much as I can My remix: http://soundcloud.com/drumj8/spacious-marimba-ff6-new Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndsFr2fZ5og
  9. Nice touch with the opening effect of people gathering, to remember their friends.. It reminds me of the Collegium Musicum ensemble during college days. Maybe try experimenting with adding different instruments. The shaker sound is repetitive, so maybe try adding a bass drum sound, and experiment with adding it throughout the whole track, or only when the flute sound comes in, or when the duet starts. You could try changing the rhythm of either the shaker, or added bass drum or other percussion instruments throughout the track. There are obvious sections that begin and end in the other instruments, so I think an obvious change in the percussion could potentially add a lot to the arrangement. Like I commented on soundcloud, the solo fiddle sound towards the end is very overpowering, so work on adjusting the velocity and/or volume. This remix was less flashy than most of the other ones and I think that factored into my voting.. but listening to it now it's quite nice, I like the harmonies during the duet. It's nice to focus listening on one remix for once, as opposed to listening to 34 remixes then voting.
  10. It's pretty cool that everyone's favorites varied. I remember thinking "phew, finally, the last track" and thinking "this is awesome!" I'm not too familiar with the Gogo source track but I think your remix is a really good standalone track. Nice work!
  11. Congratz to the winners! I'm a little relieved it's all over .. Props to #11 and #34, I spilled one early by accident but been holding my breath to say the other for a while .. That was fun!
  12. heh I am not deterred, I think it looks great and I definitely want to at least try it out
  13. Anyone play this? I haven't yet but I intend to ..
  14. Gracias por el opportunidad todos, fue un honor. Looking forward to seeing the results. I'm glad I got the chance to participate and I'm learning as I go. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single dubstep. (6 years of Spanish and I'm sure that's wrong).
  15. You know, call me crazy or call me maybe, but no joke I played this while my living situation was not good. Hear me out, I was renting this room out where the landlord was some sort of monk, and the place smelled like incense all the time, visitors were not allowed, him and his friends were chanting all the time, and he would always knock on my roommate's door (the guy directly next to me) for being too loud. Point of the story: Literally whenever I played Skyward Sword, the volume level was way down, and being an audio guy I LOVE music and sound. It sounds a little nutty but I bet this definitely and negatively affected my perception of the game. I need to play it again ... and thus I will.
  16. See, I'm glad I'm not the only one.. it'll always be a classic to me. I remember reading about that comic too. It should definitely be remade. If it were made into a horrible movie, I would watch it and love it, that's what would happen. I kind of wish people today would look back and say "I love the classics... Mario... Zelda... Tetris... Kid Chameleon..." haha I guess you can't force people to like something or give it attention, but ... I just love the game so much.
  17. I love Kid Chameleon. I have fond childhood memories playing it on Sega Genesis, and as a child it always was one of the hardest games that I never beat. A few months ago I saw someone doing speed runs on it, and actually seeing someone beat it made me believe "hmm I can beat it too" and then, I beat it on my own on PSP, but I digress. Questions. 1) Does anyone else LOVE this game and feels that it's weird that it doesn't get a lot of attention? Sure, it's no Mario, Zelda, Sonic, etc etc etc.. Maybe it doesn't line up along the rest of the classics (although it does in my heart) but on the interwebs there's almost no attention given to it, unless I'm just completely missing it. 2) Does anyone else LOVE the music in this game? Talk about funktastic.
  18. Yesssss. Although I just discovered this a few weeks ago, I'm glad I won't have to wait long to listen to it ..
  19. I'm sure this was explored already but here's my 2 cents .. I beat the game a while ago. I couldn't help but think that throughout the game, I never felt many "wow" moments. I kept thinking back that Ocarina of Time blew my mind, and Twilight Princess and Windwaker were very solid, unique games but Skyward Sword was very ordinary to me. There's the LoZ formula--explore different temples, put the Triforce together, etc etc .. which I just felt were done perfectly in past games without being too repetitive, while still managing to create a unique game. While playing Skyward Sword I just felt like it was doing the same old stuff again and felt predictable. I want to play it again. I did unlock Hero Mode after all ..
  20. Everybody, quick, a Locke theme only remix contest. 1 week to mix, 1 week to vote, go. jay kay I dunno. that'd be interesting though. poor Locke. No one made a remix for him cuz he's stuck on that island. P.S. Hurley was at E3 today.
  21. Saw it this past weekend, late to the party, but I loved it. I'm not a huge comic geek nor an Avengers fan, more of a 90s X-Men cartoon fan, but the movie was awesome, and I realized I actually did watch all of the individual movies beforehand. Spoiler/note/thingy: My bro and his g/f started laughing towards the end when Iron Man was falling and Thor says, "he's not slowing down" and then he spins his hammer real fast. It IS kind of silly, but my best argument was "that's what Thor does!" I don't even know if that's indeed what Thor does but that was my argument. ALSO, When Cap's given out orders, and Thor winds up his hammer then flies away, that almost kind of felt like a parody to me .. kind of in the same vein as my bro and his g/f laughing at that aforementioned scene. Last thing, from my reading I understand that Captain America is the leader which makes sense in the movie because he was giving out orders, but I missed the part where they established he was the leader. At one point did someone say "okay Cap is the leader" ? These details are hecka minor. All in all, I loved the movie and will watch it again. I was amazed at the action and was thinking to myself "oh my goodness this is so good. I dream of making something a fraction of this goodness, at some point in my lifetime."
  22. Ahh makes sense, I didn't know. should be good.
  23. I found out about this game because Lindsay Weir voices a character in it. Looks cool, reminds me of No More Heroes.
