  1. This is neat. Inspiring. -- I mean, it would inspire me if I were skillful at manipulating orchestral instruments and articulations and such .. If someone were to tell me "create a Pac-Man ReMix" I would automatically think of "electronic," .. so this is very refreshing.
  2. Thanks Sir, your feedback was hilarious AND helpful .. I'll work on it some more and consider everyone's feedback. Although I did not TOUCH a midi file for my remix, my recent work has been straightforward and coverish so I will work on breaking out of that and being more exploratory. Even though the original was a pretty short loop, it gets pretty crazy in a short amount of time, so I feel a ReMix should be even crazier .. btw, where did you get your KC SFX from? Good luck with your resub.!.
  3. This made me "laugh out loud." I wish there were a quicker way to say that.
  4. I'm new here but I support Brandon Strader's decision. You guys make music for the sake of loving music and post it up here for everyone to enjoy. This guy got caught stealing music and selling it as his own, which is illegal, and upon getting caught, he deleted people's messages and blocked them, then finally gave in. He apologizes and it's over with? A slap on the wrist? He's only sorry because he got caught. If he was never caught, he would still be doing it right now and profiting over hard work that you guys have done. I wouldn't be surprised if he's doing the exact same thing under other aliases under which he has not yet gotten caught, OR plotting to do the same thing in the future--if he really does get off as easily as "I'm sorry thenks bai"
  5. 1:05-1:48 is part of another track I created that I incorporated into the mix. It IS excess and isn't incorporated very well into the track, I'm new at this . It has no source in it, except for the last bit which isn't even the main source, it's a tiny bit of the Coin Song (random :-/).. I'll probably cut that section out. I've also got the comment of "meandering" on a completely different track of mine so that's another thing I've got to work on, as well as in general making a more complete, whole, and livened soundscape (I'll add more tracks to this definitely). I'll play around with the drum intensity, I like the idea of having it simple in the beginning then more intense at the end to distinguish the sections more. Your feedback is much appreciated! I'll add to my drawing board and hopefully come back with a better and new improved product.
  6. You lost me at caveat. Jk but your mix was badass, very 'outside the box' creativity that deserved the win . I get what you're saying, it does make sense. The drums get more intense but everything else stays the same, and there's a build up into, ultimately, nothing. I will listen to more ReMixes and practice, practice, and then practice. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it much, especially since you and Calum were entrants in the contest. I figured the last thing you'd want to hear is another WIP of FF6 New Continent. But thanks!
  7. I occasionally check out the Sonic Zone Remix Competition thread, but I didn't see this thread until now .. It sounds great, good luck!
  8. I think it's interesting that a bunch of posts said "first wasn't sure but now love it." I feel the same way, it was an acquired taste for me and I acquired it at 2nd listen. It reminds me of Zooey Deschanel and She & Him because their music for me is very summery and happy. Nice work.
  9. I love this track. My favorite part is around 1:45 when it all comes together. I wish I was more experienced so I could give meaningful and constructive feedback. But for now I can only offer my inexperienced opinions. Personal taste stuff: -2:23 where it goes funky, maybe play around with adding crashes when it lands on the beat. I feel it goes off the beat a little too much but again it's a taste thing. -2:42 another taste thing, nice drop but I don't like the coin chime-y sounds :-/ Keep it up. Nice double beat.
  10. Yo. This sounds great, it really does. The only thing I want to say is that at 1:11 it sounds like it's going somewhere else (sounds cool) but that part only lasts a few seconds, and a new section starts at 1:17. It felt to me like you could expand that part, maybe into a solo. It just sounds short to me--like you're taking off in an airplane into a new adventure and then the plane lands 6 seconds later. Sorry if that's a stupid analogy .. just my take. It's really good. Nice drumming
  11. My goodness... the vocals surprised me at first because I wasn't expecting it.. but I seriously got goosebumps, not exaggerating.. This is beautiful.
  12. Hello Eradicate! Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. I thought no one would reply Aww, I like that sample at 00:53 ... I thought it sounded good but I'll definitely try exploring other options and experiment with more aggressive sounds. As for the mixing, I'm very much a novice with everything to learn (I'm getting tired of saying that, I really should get off my ass and learn how to mix already, or upgrade from novice to apprentice or something ). The drums do get overly plain at 01:04 so I'll try fleshing them out more. Your feedback was definitely valuable, thanks a bunch. I seem to be starting a bunch of WIP's lately and haven't been returning to them, but hopefully I get to work on this again with your feedback in mind. Thanks!
  13. Thanks Sir. I like my remix so far, but after hearing yours, mine definitely sounds a bit too ordinary. I want to incorporate the feedback I'm getting here and explore/experiment more with it, make it a little more strange and less straightforward.
  14. I'm still listening to it and picking out my favorites, but what I find funny is that 3 stood out to me so far: Lunar Whale, Bat Outta Hell, and there was one sexy track that I really liked too.. so I looked at the track listing right now and it was "Quotidian" by Xenon Odyssey. good stuff
  15. I'm not familiar with this game or music at all but ... I'm going to try this
  16. My cheap speakers at work won't do this justice so I'll check this out later headphone style
  17. First off, call me crazy but is that snare glitch still at the end..? I still hear it right at the end at 6:07 .. bizarre.. Yep I meant "offbeat" as in "not on the downbeat," in a good way. It still sounds a little jarring but I know it's a stylistic choice and it works for me, I just hope the judges see it that way too; I have no idea where they draw the line between "this sounds funky spastic cool" and "hmm resub" It's obvious that it's purposely and purposefully placed in there. I haven't listened to a LOT of remixes on this site yet but I still vote for this remix as "feel good remix of the year." Nice work thinking out of the box (not to mention on Random Encounter as well). Creativity Level Up.
  18. Everyone will vote how ever they want, that's just going to happen. Yes, it would be better if everyone voted with certain criteria set in place, and the more sophisticated system the better, but that just isn't always going to be the case, and everyone's system will be different. I have a lot to learn in terms of production (as evidenced in my 23rd and 25th place wa ha ) and I'm not as familiar with the source tracks as others may be. There are so many factors that go into everyone's individual opinions, but I think that the voting system put into place was as fair as it could be. Admittedly, I based my voting mostly on enjoyability reminiscent of the Netflix star system (hated, didn't like, like, really liked, loved). It wasn't the best voting system but it's still valid. Everyone won't universally like and dislike the same tracks. E.g. my favorite tracks came in 1st place, and 18th place. And the 1st place winner XPRTNovice stated that his favorite track was Track 1, which I believe came in 19th place. I think my point got diluted.. Anyway, the voting was going to have varying opinions and I don't think the voting system was at fault for that at all.
  19. ahh cuz I know SuperiorX wanted to know who made the remixes he liked based on the numbers he wrote down and I wasn't sure there was a list of track numbers with ReMixer name other than that zip file Zircon posted a few days ago
  20. woo hooo, I got excited when I saw this. The former remix was awesome, but those drums .. They just felt weird; I think the judges felt the remix would be THAT much better if the drums were tightened up (and I'd agree). I can't be unbiased because of my love for the game and the music.. I love the new improved version as well. There are some parts that still feel off beat, but stylistically it feels like that's what you're going for and I hope it doesn't hurt in the judges' eyes too much.. After all, a funky weird offbeat remix is bound to be off beat sometimes, ya? (get it?) I can't comment too much on the production yet because I'm still learning... but I like it a lot! I love the use of sound effects too... If they don't think it's up to par yet, I think it's definitely on its way. I really hope that the judges give this the Victory Fanfare and that this submission doesn't !DIE! (kid chameleon style).

  22. I finally got speakers hooked up to my work computer, listening to this now, some good stuff on here.
  23. I could listen to your stuff all of the time, all of the time.
  24. I googled "ocremix Cowboy Bebop" and came across this thread and although it is old, here is my take: Cowboy Bebop is the first anime I watched and my favorite; if a live action movie were to happen, I would watch it for the sake of curiosity and would really hope they did it right. No, I don't think Keanu would make a good Spike. I think a better, more open-minded person would give him a chance and see how he does, after all, I remember thinking "Heath Ledger? The Joker? Really?" I also thought Hugh Jackman looked too puny and dumb to play Wolverine and now I think he was perfect. But alas, I am not open-minded and think Keanu + Spike = neh. This might seem like a stretch but to be honest whenever I watched early episodes of The Office (U.S.) I could always picture John Krasinski as Spike, mostly because in the show, he's this tall, skinny character, and even his voice feels similar to Spike to me. His demeanor was always laid back and lazy, and the way he wore his clothes was reminiscent also, long sleeved shirts with the sleeves rolled back, tie worn loosely around the neck. But The Office sucks now so now there's this. I currently even have the top comment on this, stating that Joseph Gordon-Levitt would make a good Spike Spiegel; I think he has the acting chops to do anything. I'm just continually impressed with him after 500 Days, Inception, 50/50, etc etc .. Side note, after watching Drive (and also, after watching, and then subsequently thinking, about Firefly), I think Christina Hendricks would make a good Faye; she's frikn hatt, and after seeing Firefly, she could definitely play sexy/seductive/deceiving/manipulating well. Aura and acting wise I think she'd be great (although Faye is more impossibly slender) Further side note, I occasionally check on other potential live action films based on anime e.g. Akira, Evangelion .. seems production always stops for one reason or other ..
  25. Thanks Trism. I hope other ReMixers follow suit. My favorite composer is Nobuo Uematsu hands down, and I understand and love that there are so many FF remixes, but KC needs some love too. Thanks Phonetic Hero. My ear has been improving but as far as effects go, everything is new to me--but that's why I'm here. I just gotta do some studying. The organs having a long attack and release makes total sense, but I didn't even think of it being a problem so I'll try out other instruments for the quick parts. I'll look into the other stuff like glitching as well. Thanks for the feedback! I occasionally lurk in that Sonic Zone Remix Competition thread. Nice work, your stuff was always really good.
