  1. Haha, he deserved that. I've been getting better matchups lately. I think I'm finally evening out and being put with/against similarly skilled players. Bastions are actually watching for my deflect instead of melting, Reapers are waiting for me to use it before DIE DIE DIE'ing, other Genjis are...still pretty bad. Not many people seem to really main him though, so unless I see one with a legendary skin it's usually an easy kill.
  2. Just another day as Genji... They were kinda bad though. I'll chalk it up to that "OMG OVERTIME RUSH POINT" but the Hanzo ignored my I'M USING MY ULTIMATE LOOK AT ME cry, the Reinhardt ignored me, the Zarya ignored me and the Mei didn't bother trying to freeze me. Her first ice wall also sort of stopped Hanzo from doing his job.
  3. Awesome! This was one of my favorite Genesis games, thanks to the demo cart including Revenge of Shinobi and getting me hooked on the series. Gonna have some fun with this track for sure.
  4. I originally did this as a bonus track for the Meat and Potatoes compo. I'm mostly looking for comments/critique/advice on the mixing, as I'm pretty new to mixing vocals and mixing in general. The arrangement is set for the most part - it's really just a cover rather than a remix attempt. Updated 11/2/2016 - Most parts humanized and/or redone, some elements removed, guitar re-recorded.
  5. Good news: You don't have to! (It finished 5 days ago, and voting concluded a couple days ago) DusK killed it this time. Pretty sured he'd have beaten out my mix if it weren't a bonus. Shame we didn't have more entries though.
  6. Oh yeah, saw a deflect duel on Reddit using helix rockets. Great stuff. Also seen one with a turret Bastion fueling the deflect duel. It's why I love Genji. I think I've narrowed down the "phantom hits" thing though. Server tick rate is 60 and client tick rate is 20. That alone isn't a huge problem, but if any players are having ping issues that small delay will be compounded by a lot and the "favor the shooter" setup will, well, favor the shooter even if they're the ones lagging. It probably happens to me a lot because on Genji I rely a lot on evasion, and of course it favors the shooter and disregards my dodges when latency/tick does cause an issue. Also hating turrets now. I had one do a 180 degree snapshot headshot 9000 bullet barrage in 0.25 seconds of exposure, which seems completely wrong. Even the kill cam showed it immediately snap around and shoot me down. It's not even the damage or tracking speed that bugs me. It's that it has perfect awareness of it's surroundings, unlimited range(other guns have bullet drop) and the ability to instantly spin around to the target.
  7. It happens to me all the time, but only in specific circumstances. Like, I'll Genji dash out of the way of something(Junkrat's ult, Tracer's bomb, D. Va's mech) and be far far away(well out of range), but I'll die anyway and the kill cam will show me standing there doing nothing. I've heard it's because the game uses a "favor the shooter" system, meaning no matter how well I dodge/avoid/etc if their screen says they got me then they got me. Today I picked Genji on Hanamura. Shortly after, everyone else on my team switched to Genji. We won both attacking and defending. That was a fun match.
  8. So just curious: How do you deal with "phantom hits", for lack of a better word? You know, those telegraphed attacks you hear coming, see coming, react to perfectly and dodge...only to die. You then see a killcam showing you not dodging and getting slaughtered even though that's not what happened. AFAIK it's basically you saying "I dodged", the enemy saying "No I hit" and the server replying with "Ok they say they hit you so they did". It usually isn't that bad, but today has been infuriating.
  9. That's odd. I bought mine new from Guitar Center for $99 off sale. Their website currently shows it on sale at $85. Though if you're willing to spend $100 you may as well spend the extra $25 for the 2i2, or take Garpocalypse's suggestion for the audiobox.
  10. If I'm not mistaken, the Focusrite Scarlett Solo can record two inputs simultaneously and has 48v phantom power. It has one XLR mic input, one 1/4" instrument jack and one 1/4" jack headphone jack. Average retail is $99, though it's cheaper in some places. I use it currently, although I don't do a lot of recording with it. As far as mics go I can't really make any suggestions.
  11. I always love the games where one team gets to 99% and the other manages to turn it around after one hell of a fight, even if I'm on the losing side. It's always a fun match. Screw Temple of Anubis though. Attacker side you've got one archway you have to clear, and 9/10 times there's a turret + Symettra sentries and often a ice-wall spamming Mei to boot. I can sometimes get up on the archway, but the turret and its extreme range stops me from actually getting through to the backline. It may be good strategy on their side, but at the same time I absolutely loath a map with such a linear path. Every other map gives mobile characters plenty of alternate routes to get around turret nests, but not here.
  12. Well, most characters I play are countered by her. Genji can't accurately hit her unless you get the jump on her, though dragon blade will make the fight easier in a pinch. Mercy can't properly escape unless there's a well-placed ally(preferably a Pharah) to jump to, and not even Bastion will stop a good Tracer from flanking. Ideally Mei or Symettra will be around to kill her mobility. With Symettra a turret nest will destroy her(and anyone who relies on mobility for that matter). For Genji, the one tip I'd offer is to look EVERYWHERE. Not just for enemies, but for anything with a flat surface. There are actually a ton of places only he or others with a good jump/dash can get to, and thanks to cybernetics + swift strike(which can travel in ANY direction) he can usually get there faster and easier. Sidenote: Genji is a Mercy + Pharah's worst nightmare. You're basically handing him a rocket launcher
  13. ^ Yeah, that. I don't have trouble with Roadhog because deflect. Mercy is fairly easy to deal with on Genji(plenty of mobility to get behind them), but Tracer annihilates me. Far too dodgy for me to hit with my shurikens(which need pin-point accuracy). Mei also annoys me because she takes all my mobility. I can beat her if I keep a good distance though. She has no counter to that. If she drops her ult to try and lock me down I can just swift strike out. On the other hand, I laugh at Reaper and consider him a free kill because DIE DIE DIE quickly turns into DEFLECT DEFLECT DEFLECT. I especially love using deflect on McCree's Deadeye. A homing potentially insta-kill bullet? You don't say...
  14. That's odd. I haven't had any disconnects, but I'm on PS4. I saw a notice saying they were checking out connection issues though. Had a nice Genji match today. Deflected a Hanzo ult for the win(the initial arrow can be deflected and you "steal" the ult) and got featured. I normally like supports but I may stick with Genji for a while.
  15. Having a blast so far. I usually end up playing Symmetra or Mercy because we lack supports, but I play a lot of Genji as well. He's pretty hard to get used to, but can hit like a truck. Yeah, I'd say 9/10 times the play of the game is DIE! DIE! DIE!. I did get it once with Symmetra though. The enemy team was preoccupied trying to break through our defense, so I flanked them and dropped a few turrets and took 3 of them out.
  16. Haha, you and me both. I'll definitely have a bonus mix ready in time, but it may be a bit rushed. I'm not particularly experienced with mixing/mastering, much less with vocals for a change. Good a time to learn as any though.
  17. Eh, still a week left. Hope we get some entries before then. I don't want my bonus mix to be the only one.
  18. Nothing too fancy. An Oxygen49 keyboard, BX5a monitors and a Scarlett Solo interface all crammed into a tiny room.
  19. Making some good progress. Muaha. is what I'd say if I was actually competing.. Nonetheless, it's coming along nicely. Looking forward to some good mixes this round.
  20. Naaaaah, easy would've been too easy. I might do something with the source, but my usual field(orchestral) has already been destroyed by an in-game arrangement of it, so I'll have to try something different.
  21. Haha, glad you're enjoying it. I consider it the second best VST purchase I've made and by far the best affordable violin library.
  22. Oh snap, thought you had this one hoboKa. I was worried mine was too mechanical. Gotta think of a source now.
  23. The problem is that the Shakuhachi is set to channel A1 while the piano is set to A2, and the midi data in the piano roll only plays to A1 by default. You have to change that on your own. In the upper left corner of the piano roll there's a colored box, just below the dropdown menu. Click on it and this will happen: Those numbers correspond to the midi channel number. It's pretty straightforward. Notes written in color 1 will be played by instruments set to [A/B/C/Etc] 1. The color isn't really important. It's just there to differentiate the notes in the piano roll. Write out your notes in the appropriate "color"(or select existing notes, open the above menu and pick the appropriate channel to change them) and they'll be played by instruments on that track with the correct midi channel(or Omni). You can also configure your midi keyboard/devices (if you have any) to play to certain channels to make this easier to do. By default they'll generally send input to channel A1.
  24. I was mildly annoyed with them deciding to make Frost evil(he wasn't in the manga), but other than that it's pretty nice so far. The actual art is crisp and clean, but the animation itself could use some work. It's no big deal though.
