Well, you recently told me you play the guitar, so I'm expecting you to Doesn't really matter if it's synthwork if it's good. We'll need someone who can set up a nice website for the project eventually, and also, cover art and the likes. Maybe you could help with something like that? By the looks of it, we'll also need someone who can suggest people we should try to recruit - I don't have time, and am open to suggestions.
-
We probably will, but it's better if you don't make any promises until you have time, or it'll look like we don't need any more people (which we do). So check back when you're done. True, but it's nowhere near as important as it is for the other one.

The instrument the melody has too slow an attack. It's almost impossible to hear the melody. I also think the 1½ minutes of the same, repeated background is very boring. The whole thing sounds like something from those old Arnold action movies... It picks up a little bit at 3:30 or so. Again, the melody instrument has much too slow attack, and it's pretty annoying, too. No, I'm not a big fan of ambient. I think you could throw in a few seconds, at least, of a more steady and upbeat cover of the original. Most people will barely recognize what song this is.

You learn fast, gaggo. Yeah, there's too much samples and they're also too loud, and the "lead" is also way too loud. A good sound card always helps, but most sound cards these days are fine... Some software doesn't even use the sound card when exporting the song into an audio format - such as Reason.
-
That would be a good first step, yes. But then there's the instrument quality and the fact that you're using a mod tracker. I'm afraid you need better software in order to reach the level of sound quality that the judges require. Your arrangement is pretty good, but perhaps not good enough to pass - but the main problem is the instruments. Even bad instruments would sound much better using better software. Try downloading a demo for either of these: http://www.ocremix.org/mixing/

We'll probably still have positions open by then. Most people who join projects quit after a while, so remember you can pick songs that someone else has already claimed, since people dropping out is a rule rather than an exception, it seems. I doubt GaMeBoX or Vurez will fail to complete their songs, though.

That worked. Thanks. Anyway, yeah, the instruments sound like an old video game... possibly the SNES. Hehe The arrangement was pretty nice though. The cowabunga sample was cool the first time, but it got tiring very quickly. The bass instrument seemed off-key. The synths also got boring after a while - the whole thing seemed rather dead. The half-tempo drums were pretty nice though. Well, the main problem is the instruments, and the overuse of the cowabunga sample. I think you need to find better software - modtrackers are cool, but you're not going to be able to make an OCReMiX using one. Otherwise, good start. The world definitely needs more TMNT remixes.

No, Wily's bio isn't done yet, but I edited it a while ago, and the new version I made didn't look like the one you just quoted. Maybe I posted the new version in a new post...

I remember there was a sign right outside my English class classroom in High School that read "mens' room" (referring to the room next to the classroom). Oh, the irony. In said classroom, I wrote a test of some kind. Most of the questions in it were of the "where to put the apostrophe" kind. When the tests were returned, many of the "correct" answers were actually wrong, which made the whole thing pretty silly, considering how picky it all was to start with. Anyway, thanks, Lin - I wasn't aware of the distinction there.
-
Agreed. I think, if you want to do the first 50, do it, and tell us you do. If anyone else wants to do the next 50, they'll do the same. I personally don't have the time right now to do either.

I think you'd be better off doing the ending theme, Steve. That one absolutely needs live guitars or it's going to suck. Washudoll can take Cossack 3-4.
-
Then you can have it. Of course, you always could - you should read the guidelines more closely Anyway, I'll sign you up for it. I've updated my mix a little and uploaded it (just to show you I'm actually doing something... haha)
-
Yeah. You want it? ... what happened to the Boss music, was that in your BrightMan mix, or have you just not done it yet?
-
Link brings me to a very confusing page. Can't find a song link.
-
I only found 1 of the 3 he mentioned in this more complete archive of yours. Anyway, when is someone going to rip the "Flink" soundtrack?
-
No, you're right, I was just wondering if you had the same opinions as I did.
-
Melancholical at worst, but not "sad"...
-
I'll contact you if we do, but thanks for athking!

lol Well, we kinda needed a fresh start anyway. EDIT: Even though this is kinda too fresh...

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Remix: Knights and Magic
Dafydd replied to vr_jadison's topic in ReMix Requests
this is supposed to be in the WiP forum, I think. BTW, nice website, and very interesting mix. I don't think I've heard anything like it on OCR before. It uses a lot of samples from the game, but in a very creative way. I doubt this would make it past the judges unless you manage to make it less monotonous - I love House, but the genre in itself doesn't really fit into the OCR cliché, unless you add some female vocals (ok, personal preference), a steadier 4-on-the-floor section and a chorus of some kind, plus a breakdown and all of that... As a genre, House is probably too repetitive for this site's standards, I think, but I personally thought the song was really cool and would certainly like to hear a longer version of it. This is just an intro, and I don't know what you had in mind for the rest for the song, but I'd love to find out. Nice work! -
I don't want in, but I really would like to see this happen. It'll probably fare better than the MM4 project too... we just don't have the same fan-base as you do.

I'm working on hip-hop/lullaby YI medley, but it'll be a long time before I'm done... hehe

This post still needs some more cleanup. Welcome to the Mega Man 4 Remix Project Guidelines and info: Several source tunes may be combined in one mix. Include one or several of the jingles if you can. Make a remix of only jingles if you want. You may claim songs that are already taken, even finished ones. There are no deadlines. Yet. There are no genre restrictions. Ask for collabs! Want to join? Audition by posting a link to your wip of the track you want to remix either directly in this thread or in a PM and I will decide if you're good enough. Once you're on the project, I will send you login instructions for the project's secret FTP on a secret url with a secret login and secret password where we will secretly store both the wips and the finished mixes, in secret. Don't spread the secret login and secret password or the secret url to people outside the project, not even in secret. Cerrax used to run an ftp for us, but now he's ignoring me, so I don't have access to the old wips anymore, nor the old finished mixes. Feel free to contact me (MSN: dafydd at live dot se) if you need any help with feedback on your wip. If you feel you need more feedback, contact other people within the project. Wips may be discussed openly here in this thread, but no links to the wips may be posted - refer to the ftp. The NSF soundtrack can be downloaded from here: . Very much appreciated, Polo. Again, I'll try to get back to doing this as soon as I can.

Arguably, this is much better than mine I'd still like to hear you elaborate on how mine didn't turn out too well.
