Er... could you elaborate?
-
You know, one of the things he told me was "get better samples". And that's what the other judges told me, when I asked them about another mix I was working on, too... I'm using Reason - which is pretty expensive software. If their samples aren't good enough, well... I'm gonna have to live with not having good enough samples. I'm not buying some $1,000 sample pack just to get my stuff on OCR Of course, even I can say these samples aren't excellent, but they certainly don't make my ears sore either. It would be interesting to submit it just to see what else they have to say, but I'd feel silly submitting something that even I didn't expect to pass. That would just be wasting their time. Also, the song isn't even half-finished yet.

Nice voice staff, by the looks of it. Haha, the Swedish dub of the old cartoon episodes was great at first, but then they decided to make a cheaper version, in which there were only 3 voice actors... Krang and April were played by the same woman... hahaha... awful. Now I just look at the original, American dubs

I feel so much better now. You're a hero for letting this out in public, Zircon. Thank you. Really. EDIT: Hey, that Lufia one is actually pretty good. The volume levels could be better and the so could the drums, but overall, I actually liked it... LOL, I'll never be a better remixer than I am now, will I...

Thasauce is probably where my mixes will end up, if I ever start finishing them. You don't really get the same kind of exposure though - I would guess most people who have mixes there would prefer to have them on OCR if they could choose. This is where the community is, where the big guys play ball, you know? VGMix has some truly incredible mixes, the likes of which I can't find here, but they also have some really bad ones.

It's not that it's not what they're looking for, I don't think, it just isn't good enough. Me and the judges panel set the bar rather differently, that's all. Until I start demanding the same level of quality from my mixes as they do, I can't make something that they'd consider good enough. It's too bad VGMix is taking so long - sometimes you would find very nice mixes there that had some quality issues which made them unfit for OCR, but that I enjoyed listening to all the same.

Eheheh... I just had DarkeSword listen to this and he pretty much grinded it... as usual... It'll probably be another few years before I make anything worthy of being submitted to OCR at the rate I'm going. Oh well.

Glad to hear it.

World 3, you say? Ok, I wasn't sure which one. Well, glad you like my mix

OMG. This is like... well, listen to the SMB3 soundtrack (in Super Mario All-Stars). There's a song there that sounds almost exactly like this mix... hahah

SNES music BPM? (Beats Per Minute)

This song would be great as an rnb mix. -
Yep, volume levels are a bit phrt right now. Thanks for the comments.

Well Zircon's latest SMW remix features a guitar that would go perfectly in a Corneria remix.

I guess "cute" will do for now. It's a rather cute song to begin with.

Heheh. Someone requested this a while back. Tell me what you think and what I can do to improve it. It doesn't sound very authentic yet... and I haven't worked a more than like 2 hours on it... and I'm aware of the dissonances and oddities a little here and there. Still trying to figure out if it's because I screwed up when I copied it down ear-to-midi or if it's because of the bassline or the melody I added. So, suggestions on how to make this more elevator music-like? http://phytrepighlet.googlepages.com/zeldafile.mp3 EDIT: I've edited the volume levels a little and changed the way the guitar plays. Still need a better guitar sound. And to fix the dissonances.

Does anyone have a good sample? I'm talking BIG base drum, like the ones you hear in the Homeworld soundtrack. Heavy as hell and blowing everything away.
-
Yeah... I would like to get this further, but it's kinda hard now that the source file got corrupted. I'm so sick of corrupted files. Why does it even happen? Why can't files just... work and stay working?

*sigh* Americans... (lol, maybe that's not what you are. Those people just sound a lot like people I met in the USA... but I have Americans to thank for introducing me to SPC's, NSF's and whatnot, and for this site, so whatever) You're both a stuck-up snob and a nerd/geek. AWESOME COMBO! Myself, I haven't really managed to pull anyone into this, really. I know no one on OCR irl, even though I have friends who don't mind listening to game music or and who think remixing it is a cool thing to do. My girlfriend thinks I'm a nerd, too, but she lets it slide... all in all, I guess I'm better off than many others, though. Even though it's rather lonely being interested in game music, at least I'm not being frowned upon for doing it. Anyway, what do you call a person who dismisses an entire world of music just because it's game music? A stuck-up snob!

Hello. I used to post WiP's regularily in this forum, but I stopped and decided I would only post stuff here that was almost finished, so I wouldn't get the usual, stupid remarks about the flaws I already knew my WiP had. Anyway, here I am again. This song has become a corrupt project on my computer and I can no longer continue working on it unless I begin from scratch. Argh. I wanted this to be a punk song with some calm sections, very much like Green Day's song "Minority". I got the idea while listening to Project X, who unfortunately left this song rather untouched, and they probably would have done a good job with the song if they'd tried the idea I have for it. Unfortunately, you only get so close to punk using sampled guitars and computers. This should be played by a live band (like Project X). Since I won't be feeling like picking this up anytime soon, and since, if I did, I'd still not be played by a live band, I figured I could let it out in the open in case anyone else wants to give it a shot. I have some pretty good lyrics for it in case someone does want to try. The corresponding song in Mega Man 3 goes very well with this one, btw. Here it is! And you're welcome to comment on it whoever you are and whether you want to make something of it or not.

OCR00896 - Super Mario World "Ghosts of the Marble Hall"
Dafydd replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
This is kick-ass. -
Those are expensive. I got one like 3 years ago... and it was like $60 :omg:
-
Ok, that's fine.

Well, here's why, apparently. And doing this solved it. Thanks for your help, guys! http://www.tweakxp.com/article36849.aspx
