  1. Going through some more stuff in this thread now that I'm on the school's broadband... Man, this is making me wanna finish a damn album. Or start a netlabel. Or something. Ubik needs to start ALS4 already.
  2. fagreed. everything xoc makes is gold.
  3. Sorry I'm taking so long. I suck at not sucking. I'm having like a mental block... so close to being finished, yet I don't know what to do to wrap it up.
  4. I don't know enough about Jamstix to answer your question, but on a more general level, typically a midi loopback is required to be able to record or playback midi internally between seperate applications. This can be done either through hardware (ie: an actual physical midi loop) or software (an emulated midi feedback driver). The easiest way is to get an emulated driver, such as MIDI Yoke. Keep in mind, however, that running multiple applications that use the same audio driver can often cause conflicts. For example, I cannot run MiniHost and FL Studio at the same time, because they both utilize my E-MU ASIO drivers. However, if you use WDM drivers, this usually isn't so much of an issue.
  5. I lol'd. The best snake would be Kurt Russel. 20 years ago. Or Bruce Campbell... 20 years ago.
  6. Nagrand and Blade's Edge Mountains are both very Diablo sounding. Netherstorm, especially when in the cities there, sounds very StarCraft-ish, which is an awesome touch. Hellfire Peninsula on the other hand, has more of a classic WarCraft feel. Sounds like WarCraft 2. The other zones don't particularly sound like anything, but are still cool.
  7. I think it was the shit gear I had. Once I had replaced all my crappy level 40-50 green items with Outlands quest rewards, I started levelling faster. Like I said it took me a long ass time to go from 60-64. But I did 68-70 in one evening. Now to scrounge up another 5000g or so for my epic flying mount. The regular flying mount is so slow... Also, there's a lot of weird areas I've noticed that are only reachable by flying mount, especially in Blade's Edge Mountains. There's even named mobs in the Blade's Edge Mountains. Namely Terrordar the Tormentor, some huge ass Eredar guy. But there's no quests for any of these areas. Weird.
  8. [Here] is a nice free electric guitar soundfont I found on the old Auditorium forums before they went to shit. If you know how to sequence guitar, you can make it sound fairly decent with some processing. [Here] is an example. I made this by running the soundfont through my J-Station multieffects processor, though you could also use Guitar Rig 2 or Amplitube 2 to achieve similar (and often better) effects. I have some newer, better examples, but they're not hosted anywhere at the moment. I hate how vb doesn't underline links. :/
  9. You're misusing the term line-in. A line-in signal is already at line-level (like TV or CD player outputs). Microphones are not line-level, and must be first amplified to achieve proper volume. And you didn't answer the question as to whether you're going direct or micing. But since you say XLR, I'm going to assume it's miced. Are you using a preamp? What do you have the gain set to on the dock? Do you have the phantom power on?
  10. Once you get to zangarmarsh, and then even moreso in terrokar and nagrand, the amount you make will start increasing pretty significantly. I made enough to get my epic mount in about 6 hours in zangarmarsh. Also, it probably helps that I have 300+ mining and 375 herbalism. Oh, and save all those motes you get. I get like 9g for vendoring crap ass green weapons with shit stats. And they drop quite a bit. And when you find them with good stats, you can usually sell them for 20g or more.
  11. My IBS was the first thing I replaced when I got to Thrallmar. LOL Night Elves. I think I'll go gank some right now. Yeah, that sounds good. SHADOWMELD CAN'T HIDE YOU FOREVER. Oh, and I make about 400g a day just from quests and vendor trash in outland, so uhh, yeah... Also, if you plan on doing AV, whatever you do, DO NOT DO WHAT I DID. DO ALL YOUR AVs BEFORE 61. 61-70 AV is as broken as broken gets. Several reasons: a) Nobody queues. Because it's broken. Archers/Bowmen now have a range of 200 yards and do 1000+ damage per shot. Broken. c) The flag guards have 15,000hp each and do ridiculous damage. Broken. d) The captains, lieutenants, and basically all elite mobs have hundreds of thousands of hitpoints and will one shot you. Yes, including your MT. Broken. e) I sat in an AV at level 63 for an hour. Not one flag was capped. Not one elite was killed. Neither team could make it past either bottleneck at SH or IB, since the 1000 damage archers would kill them in mere seconds once they got within 200 yards. So yeah. AV after 60 is a joke.
  12. This thread has served well to remind me of how awesome Nifflas is. Knytt is win.
  13. Nagrand is way cool. It feels like it came straight out of an anime or japanese RPG or something.
  14. Are you going directly from your amp to your soundcard? Because that's generally a good way to make stuff sound like ass. Most amps sound like tits on a walrus when run directly. When you bypass the cabinet, generally all you get is a nasty mess of distorted guitar signal. If you plan on doing this, I'd recommend getting a DI box with a cab sim. If you're using a mic, why are you using line-in? Do you have a preamp? The 1820m has two XLR inputs on the front of the breakout box. Are those what you're using?
  15. Level 66 now. Man, 64-66 wasn't nearly as bad as 60-63. Once I hit 64 and got aspect of the viper, my dps and downtime went back to not completely sucking again, so grinding became easier. Also, I find it interesting that Thrall is in Nagrand and Orgrimmar at the same time. THERE'S TWO THRALLS! Oh, and Nagrand world PvP is awesome. Way cooler than Hellfire Peninsula or the joke that is Auchindoun.
  16. same LAST name? oh shit, time to transfer my druid off my brother's account. ...someone lend me $40.
  17. Doug, what's your pally's name? My toons on Illidan: Wolfenleid (lvl 62 orc hunter) Composure (lvl 29 blood elf paladin) Spectral (lvl lowbie blood elf rogue) Bismuth (lvl lowbie undead priest) also, my brother rolled on Illidan: Brana (lvl 32 blood elf paladin) And as I said earlier, 58-60 was nothing. I did that in an afternoon in the plaguelands. But 60+ is a bitch for some reason. Maybe I'm not getting as much xp as I should be for some reason? Most mobs give me 300-500xp without rest, quest turnins anywhere from 6,000-10,000 xp. Probably has something to do with that horrid hunter nerf last patch. My DPS has been reduced about 45%, and that's AFTER getting new outlands gear.
  18. Illidan is back in working order. Dunno what Blizzard changed but it works fine now, no queues or lag. Anyways I'm 62 now, doing some quests in Zangarmarsh. I think I'm doing something wrong though, because it takes me an amazingly, amazingly, amazingly long time to level. 58-60 was nothing, I did that in one 8 hour session. 60-61 on the other hand............................................................ /wrists. First mob I killed yielded something like 500xp, so I checked my stats mod to see how many kills to level. 2429. So it took me 3 days of endless grinding and quests to hit 61. 5 more days to hit 62. I figure I'm looking at a solid week to hit 63 (two days into it so far). Meanwhile, my guild leader goes from 61-64 in a day... what the fuck is going on?
  19. They've blocked thousands more ISPs since then, including my own. WHY? Fucking retarded.
  20. Cool, glad the posts are appreciated. Where I'm from, we call this a circlejerk.
  21. 1up.com is dead to me. They can rot in hell, every last one of them. Fascist bastards they are.
  22. Incorrect. Vista will disable all "unsecure" outputs when playing back "premium content." Not just video, but audio as well. S/PDIF falls under this category, as it is completely unsecure. You're right. HDCP DRM does not affect music playback (unless it happens to be "premium content" such as SACDs etc but that's besides the point). Instead, that falls under the ever expanding category of Windows Media DRM. PS: Files encoded with the public distributions of WMP v9 or later are by default limited by DRM to only be played back on the system they were created on. Not to mention the horrors of WME. So much for file sharing, eh?
  23. No offense, but you should probably learn the very basic fundamentals of music before you go off trying to do... whatever it is you're trying to do. First, some terms you should know Pitch - the frequency of a note. basically how "high" or "low" the note is. pitch is measured in frequency, but is usually refered to by note (ie 440hz is A above middle C) Interval - an interval is the distance between two notes, usually measured in semitones, but can also be measured in cents. Semitone - a semitone, sometimes called a "half step," is the smallest interval between two notes (in western music). it is a difference of 100 cents, the same as one key upward on a piano, or one fret on a guitar. for example, C to C#, or E to F. Octave - an octave is an interval of 12 semitones (1200 cents), a repetition of the original note at double frequency. for example, C5 to C6. All you really need to know, is that one fret is the same as one key on a keyboard, one semitone, or one half-step in notation. The six strings on a guitar are tuned at six different pitches. In standard E tuning, the strings are as follows (in order from highest to lowest in pitch): E6, B, G, D, A, E4. Note that the highest and the lowest strings are both E, but two octaves (24 semitones) apart. Knowing this, it's a relatively simple manner to interpret tablature as notes. Here is a chord as played on guitar shown in tablature: e|-0 B|-1 G|-0 D|-2 A|-3 E|-0 Now, knowing that each fret is one semitone, we can figure out which notes are actually being played. E + 0 = E B + 1 = C G + 0 = G D + 2 = E A + 3 = C E + 0 = E So, ECEGCE. An inversion of the chord C Major. (Drop the redundant notes and we have the triplet C E G). See what we did there? Another quick and easy example: e|-5 (e + 5 = A) B|-7 (B + 7 = F#) G|-6 (G + 6 = C#) D|-0 (D + 0 = D) A|-x E|-x So we have D, F#, A, C#, or D Major 7. It's a pretty simple process. You don't even have to know the names of the chords if all you're doing is changing tablature to notation. However it wouldn't hurt to learn them. ...man I feel like a teacher or something. OK now, to deal with this "Cock the Hammer" song. Standard bass tuning is G, D, A, E, or basically the same as the lower four strings of a guitar. However the tablature notes that in this case, the bass is tuned 2 and 1/2 steps, or 5 semitones down. This puts it at B, A, D, E. Knowing this, we can begin the process of transposition. I'll do the first couple of phrases for you, but you're on your own for the rest. B|----------------|----------------| A|--------6-5-----|------6-5-*-*---| D|8-5-7-8-------88|--5-7---------88| E|----------------|0---------------| A# A D# A# E A D A# G A# D A# G D# A# It ain't pretty, but it's there. Hopefully this helps.
  24. Ahh well there's your problem right there. Vista doesn't allow emulated hardware drivers, which ASIO4All is. (Also, this means stuff like Daemon Tools, Midiox, syncrosoft dongles, and a vast plethora of usefull tools will cease to be functional in vista)
