Final Fantasy VIII: Collision Course - History
Sagnewshreds replied to Brandon Strader's topic in Projects
I see no problem with people releasing different albums for the same game. More music is always a good thing to me. I'll definitely check out that other album too. -
Ah man I have some cool ideas for some arrangements from the first game, but that Feb 15th deadline is just...aaaahhhhh. The pre-MAGFest music gauntlet is so real for me right now between getting my DoD entries finished and working on my track for the FF3 album. Perhaps I'll get back around to Double Dragon in the near(ish) future, even though it won't be cutting any lines haha. Really excited to see if other people throw down some sick remixes though.

Basically the ones off the top of my head were Legendary Beast (which I've been thinking about doing, but wouldn't be able to work on it for a couple of months), Breezy and Premonition. But maybe Premonition has too many borrowed themes from other tunes even though I think of it as its own thing. Come to think of it that really bluesy music from when you have to start a band about halfway through the game doesn't seem to be on the list either. Forget what that's called and I'm walking to work right now so I'll look it up later. But that would also be cool for someone to do. But basically I agree with the idea of keeping the "required" list of songs to remix lower and letting people who want to hop on the project claim other tracks as well. Seems like a good way to keep the project manageable. I predict that it will eventually turn into pretty much doing the entire soundtrack though You cannot escape! -

Hmm I still see some pretty prime tracks on the OST that haven't been claimed for this album yet (and aren't even listed under Brandon's choices). Thinking of three in particular that I regularly listen to when I throw the FF8 soundtrack on. Also Random Encounter kicks ass and I'm looking forward to seeing how that accordion remix turns out. Edit: @Jackson Alexander Parodi I'm sorry to derail this convo but I just went through your YouTube channel and found some fucking GOLD: -

Yesssssssssssssssss! Stoked for this and Chronicles of Time. So much CT remixin' for me to consume. -
I was going to go to the one in Boston to mentor people and help them with their code because the company I work for was going to sponsor. But unfortunately I had to attend a funeral instead . I have a good amount of friends who went though. Also judging by this tweet (and his other recent ones) it looks like CarboHydroM participated as well.

I'm pretty surprised that Breezy isn't on this list. Looking forward to seeing what other tracks people claim that also aren't on the list. But I do hope someone does a nice Breezy remix -

Hell yes! I already have some rad ideas for The Landing that I'm going to work on once I get this FF3 track farther along. Well we have very different opinions on Final Fantasy games But in all seriousness I'm psyched that you took Force Your Way. I can see you doing a pretty kick ass remix of that tune. Also depending on what kind of stuff you need, I'd love to be a small part of that massive collab you're talking about (like doing some guitar or bass or something). -

Whooooaaaa this is super exciting! I've been waiting for an FF8 album to come out of OCR for a while now. Brandon, you're constantly doing new album projects. What a bad ass. I know I haven't had anything posted to the main OCR page yet. Hopefully that will change with my next DoD entry which is sounding way better than the other stuff I've done so far. But I'm doing a track for the FF3 album (I just got back from traveling for work this week too so I've been working on an arrangement that I hope will kick ass). Would it be possible for me to claim The Landing? I've actually kind of been working on an arrangement of that for a couple of months now but haven't had a reason to move forward with it yet. Again, I'm totally find with submitting my stems for mixing/mastering. Not sure I'd be able to throw a solid audition of this particular arrangement down before MAGFest though. For the next two weeks I want to focus on the track I'm doing for FF3 and my MAGFest DoD entry. But I'd be honored to take on a track for this album. I'm also up for laying down some guitars for anyone else's remix or collaborating in general. -
MAGFest 2016 (Combat your Post-MAG Depression here)
Sagnewshreds replied to Arrow's topic in General Discussion
GroupMe FTW. So in order to join a group, I believe you have to either have a direct link to it or be invited. Not sure if you can just straight up search for groups. Fun fact: Groupme was originally built at a hackathon using the company I work for's API good shit. -
If I had to label it I'd put it under the category of traditional heavy metal. But the emphasis on lead guitar (because no vocals) does push it toward being pretty similar to a lot of shred stuff like Racer X/Cacophony/Yngwie

That's awesome! I'm also excited that this isn't happening during the DoD listening party. Interesting that it isn't a bunch of 80's tunes this time too. I'll be there -

VGMix is no longer with us R.I.P. Dwelling of Duels is still going strong though -
Well that was fast Shnabubula always kills it! I have a pretty rad arrangement idea for a couple of tracks from DD1. Would love to get in on this too if I have time in the next few weeks! Even though I haven't submitted any mixes to OCR before. Do we just submit our tracks the usual way, and you'll prioritize ones from DD games?
-
Would be rad to see more OCR folks submit entries for DoD! I'm really excited for this month. Got some big ideas floating around, but competition is always stiff for MAGFest month...that doesn't matter though! It's not all about winning I'd encourage everyone to enter and at least collab with someone. I might be looking for a buddy to do mixing/production type stuff on my entry because arranging/playing are my strong suits but I'm new to studio type stuffs.

OC ReMix Playlist - A playlist of all OC ReMix songs
Sagnewshreds replied to Mur's topic in General Discussion
This is a really rad idea! I had this same problem when trying to shuffle all remixes. I usually only download the torrents when huge bundles are released, and don't want to keep up with each individual one to add to my music library. So this YT playlist is great -
Hey it still might come out before FFXV

Super Mario RPG: Window to the Stars - History

Awesome will do! I got a good idea for a remix of "Going Shopping in Seaside Town" so I'll work on that and send one your way. I'm traveling for work right now though so it might take a week or so. -

Is the album too far along to possibly claim a track? I didn't even realize this project was a thing since I'm relatively new to the forums (been listening to ReMixes for a couple of years though). I've just been complaining to myself that OCR needed some more SMRPG tunes. I'd love to snag one of the unclaimed tracks! This game influenced me in a huge way as a child and pretty much opened the door to RPGs for me. I listen to the soundtrack regularly when I'm trying to write some code. I'm primarily a metal guitarist and have played in a few metal/punk bands over the past 6 years or so. I've recorded thrash/death metal stuff before, but haven't ever tried my hand at doing a remix or anything VG music related. All of the tracks that are left sound super happy and upbeat so I could either do a CarboHydroM style guitar remix or switch up the key, add some riffage and do a pretty liberal metal remix with some shredding solos. It'd be cool to take one of the more upbeat tracks and make it sound evil Let me know if that's still an option. If not, that's cool. Either way I'll be anxiously awaiting the album's release! -
Yeah man that was an awesome set! You guys, Mountain Chiefs and The X Hunters totally killed it. I am indeed the guy who convinced you to take the sri racha shot, and I think Travis from Viking Guitar also took one as well as a few other people. Contra races were a blast and my buddy speedrunning MMX was also rad. All in all a pretty sick weekend. I was way too hungover once to make it out to Brooklyn to catch you guys again once I got back to the city though Hopefully we'll all party at MAGFest again!
