Nice! The brass sounds great but the strings lag behind a bit. The attack time of the strings samples are probably too long so maybe you'll have to drag the MIDI notes a bit to the left Drums are alright but feels too small and tight for this arrangement. Maybe experiment with other drum kits or try some more reverb on the drums or something.

Now I'm just imagining Lil' Jon yelling "EXTEND"

Nice reimagining of this classic. You really nailed the "national anthem" feel. Great arrangement. The sounds you used sound cheap, but you use them to great effect.

Regarding the stumbling brass, it mostly has to do with the attack time of the samples being too long for the speed you want them to play.
The panning issue is most obvious in the low strings to the right. I know that's where they are sitting in the orchestra, but at least in headphones it sticks out a bit too much IMO.

Hi! My first post in the workshop. I just finished (I think) some kind of electro-horror-funk-ish remix of the Eerie forests song from the old Amiga game Shadow of the beast. How does it sound to you?

    Here is the original:

Specifically, I'm wondering how the flutes sound to you?  Those are the only parts of the track with actual recorded instruments.

Thanks for the comments. I've made some adjustments and will send to to the judges soon.

That didn't go very well, no. Am I supposed to change stuff and resub? Or does that only apply when the judging thread clearly says "resub"?

Thanks, glad to hear it! Yeah, those two parts were even messier a couple of drafts ago so maybe I can blame mix fatigue. Trimming it down further would require killing off another couple of darlings. I'll see if I can bring myself to do it

Not familiar with synthwave, but this sounds neat! Like a slow Laserdance track. Great arrangement, cool sounds... I like!

Sounds great. Fat chords and chilled out grooves. A bit monotonous mayhaps, but I don't really mind.

Sweet atmosphere. I like the groove, it's like slow drum&bass. Congas sound good. Perhaps the slappy bass is a bit "bassy" for a slap bass. Great work all in all!

We see most remixes of popular games, understandably.
Here are some other options, different games, maybe different music genre.
I suggest a remix of Aztec Adventure for Sega Master System, especially this track:

Something more upbeat, from the makers of Puzzle Bobble, Parasol Stars:

And finally, Slap Fight MD. (Only the arcade was released outside Japan as Alcon):

Yeah, 49 is fine for most home recording purposes.

(typing as I listen) I like the varied arrangement. Not so keen on the snares. Too much reverb and too harsh in the attack. I would have chosen another snare sample entirelly. Maybe just a standard 909 to go with the old school vibe.

The lead synths are generally great, but maybe a bit too much reberb there as well.
Thats all i could think of during the playthrough. Great choice of source material, of course.

What keyboard did you get? A stand is usually a good idea for larger keyboards, but if you can fit it on your desktop that can be better (but the working height might be a problem).
I once built a shelf for my keyboard that could be folded up against the wall, so it didn't take up any desktop space when I didn't use it. There are lots of solutions, but it all depends on your desktop situation and your keyboard of course.

Neat! Love the floatiness of this mix and the variations on the theme. The drums doesn't quite fit in though. Maybe it's the contrast between wet and dry that does it.
