  1. Both of these tunes are lovely. Shame i didn't get a chance to submit, however i was spending all of my efforts on the MnP 130 submission, trying to get the damn thing in. I'll vote instead, i mean it's all i can do lol.
  2. Wait this hasn't had a PRC remix yet!? This tune is so freaking popular....how has it not made to PRC! It's also an awesome tune, with one big missed opportunity, that i'll try and fill in this round. I will try and get an entry this time!
  3. Welcome to the Voting Stage! There are 8 entries this round. There is 1 Bonus entry(s) this round There IS no voter bonus this round! Nobody has a vote worth 2x. When Voting, if possible, avoid granting 1:1 covers top spot. MnP requires a bit of remixage after all. Don't vote for Bonus entries please. Do let me know if you have problems voting, and we can sort something out. Try and not make any comments about each entrant until after voting has concluded. Thanks! Participants may not vote for themselves. The winner of this round will join the winner of the last round in a Double Dose for MnP Round 131. Vote ends 11th February 1PM. Vote here: https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/MnP130
  4. Oh god lol, this should be difficult then, when it comes to my voting.
  5. Lol i would murder you...really. Yeah it's definately unadvised to edit the round, in case of future voting/uploading problems, but i wouldn't murder you haha. I'm not that cruel. Also the voting stage begins when i upload the official declaration. That doesn't mean you cannot vote when the box is up, there is no punishment with that, it's perfectly legal. It's more so, usually when i announce the voting, that's when it typically begins. Also it really should be common sense to not vote for yourself, but as HoboKa has reiterated, please don't vote for your own entry!
  6. Well it looks like voting has commenced, before i even got a chance to say something lol. I know you guys are eager, but come on, it's just barely even been a day since the round closed. Now i am a bit sad to be honest, because i've been trying for ages to get my entry in, and it won't seem to have it. I don't know why, i keep trying to upload, to no avail. It takes me to a blank white screen when i upload, and now that the round is over, i feel sad i can't do it (I was uploading this on the 4th of February), as the round has lapsed. The only option for now is to share it here. I don't think i should sneak it in, because to some it would feel like it's almost....cheating. I wasn't last minuting (Even if i uploaded on the 4th Feb. That's still a 2 day period for late entries), i literally was having problems with uploading. Also do bare in mind, i'm not looking at OCRemix every day. I look at it from time to time, when i'm free but not everyday. Sometimes i also deliberately wait a day later, to account for any late entries, that might have surfaced. Because it can't be voted on, or at least due to unforeseen circumstances, it might have to be marked down as a BONUS ENTRY. Oh well. Anyways time to talk about what i did. As you may know from the last PRC round, i tried to make a Metroid type soundtrack, but i failed miserably. So it ended up being a fast paced contra type soundtrack. Well the good news is, i managed to pull through and do it this time. It's not exactly Metroid, but i was trying in that mindset. It was more of that kind of game. I present to you: Bounty Hunters, the Original Soundtrack. This is a game set in industrial and wildlife areas, with the goal to explore, avoid certain enemies, and not fall into any of the traps. At the end is a boss, followed by the final boss at the last stage. It's a futuristic game, with a more "earthy" like atmosphere. I was trying to account for a more realistic musical experience, than a supposedly catchy score, even though i do think there is something to be had here, melodic wise. Think of it as kind of Semi Sci-Fi OST. I won't tell you much about the plot, because to be honest, i don't like writing these, because it forces me to come up with something generic (And also, it takes a while for me to come up with one), but if i had to tell you one, let's say...aliens have invaded earth, and cause the planet to go into a desolate state. In order to free the people captured, and those transformed into aliens, you must kill the leader, in order to kill the whole of the alien invasion. Simple and straightforward, it's just a plot after all. Now below is the link to listen to it, and the tracklisting. Hope you enjoy! Thanks for sticking with me!
  7. Nah, my collection could do with a bit of of a buffer to be honest haha.
  8. I expected the wooden spoon to be honest lol. I went over ambitious on my project XD No but seriously, great round everybody!
  9. I forgot to mention that i voted lol. A bit too late now ;). Congrats APZX, well earned win!
  10. Ok guys as i've said in my description, i uploaded a lower quality bitrate version of the soundtrack, that includes less stuff, and a shorter runtime. This is not the full soundtrack, both to keep in line with the file size of ThaSauce, but also because of time reasons, i didn't have a lot of time to splice together the full thing. Now since the submission on ThaSauce is the lower quality condensed version, i feel it's appropriate to add the full complete package here, in the best quality possible. It also includes the stuff not present in ThaSauce. I didn't add this in at the last minute, all the tracks have been created a while ago. I didn't have the time to upload it all, nor did i have the space, especially for such a low quality ost. The one i'll link to is the high quality version, remember. This was done within PRC deadlines, and it is a free round, so it does mean there's no limitations or restrictions. I hope i didn't go too far, i was just really experimenting, with what i could do. This will be the last time i go this long lol. (It doesn't really say anything about long entries to be fair.) I don't think there is anything more to discuss. Here's the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tbj68nd4afnp2pe/G-Force High Quality Original Soundtrack Full.mp3?dl=0 Scroll down on this post, to get the tracklisting. Tracklisting: G-Force Activated (Opening Screen) Ready and Waiting (Character Select) What's the Story (Mission Objective) Mind Machine (Stage 1 - The Base) The Attacker (Stages 1 and 3 Boss Theme) Controlling the Universe (Stage 2 - The Computer) CPU Rave (Stages 2 and 4 Boss Theme) Sunken Waters (Stage 3 - The Caverns) Metropolitan Beats (Stage 4 - The City) Final Frontier (Stage 5 Boss theme) Technological (Stage 5 - Space Station) The Generator (Final Boss) Congratulations (Ending) Well Done (Level Complete) Awesome (Final Boss Complete) Hard Luck (Game Over) Retry (Continue) Found an Item (Item Acquired) Upgrade (Item Powerup) That's all. I hope you enjoy this beast. I think i might have bitten more than i could chew lol, but it was a lot of fun, and something kind of different from me. Thanks for listening!
  11. I didn't think this would come up as an issue, because i assumed it would be common sense not to reupload the same composition. But if that is the case, i'll make sure to highlight it in the page. None of this is meant to be conflict of interest by the way, despite both compo's having similar goals for each free round, they are each different.
  12. 5 day's ago we just said our final goodbyes to the hectic year of 2021, and welcomed with open arms, 2022. To kick off the year, as a formal celebration, we are going to have a no holds back free round! This means nothing is off limits. Want to remix a video game source you like? Go ahead! Want to dabble in a soundtrack that's just been released this year? Have at ya! Want to make an original tune? Why not, it's all up to you. Remixes of your favourite artist/song? Yep. Come up with your own OST? Yep. Mashups? Yep. EP's and Concept albums? As long as it's not 2 hours long lol, more power to you! MIDI Rips? Of course! Nothing is off-limits! You can even do more than one entry (See conditions below). And these are just examples! The only conditions (Mainly in regards to submission) that apply are as follows: More than one entry is allowed, but you can only have up to 3 max. If your going to do an OST or EP (Or any extremely lengthy tune), then you can only submit one entry. The free round in PRC bares no relation to the Free Round here. Please don't submit any duplicates from that round. None of the rules in regards to source selection apply here, since it's a free round, however the standard uploading rules for ThaSauce (20mb size, MP3 etc...) remain as normal. And that's it really. Like i said, there is no limitations for creativity, it's whatever you feel is best for submitting. Good luck and have fun! I'm here if you have and questions. The winner of this round will join the winner of the last round in a Double Dose for MnP Round 131. Hope you have fun! Tip: If your doing a VGM remix, it would be advised for you to write down the game and source in the description, so people can understand, what's been remixed. Deadline: 2nd February @ 1PM Closing Date: 4th February@ 1PM Vote Ends: 11th February @ 1PM MnP ARCHIVE - made by Trism submit: https://compo.thasauce.net/rounds/view/MnP130 MISSION STATEMENT The goal of Compo:MnP is to promote that "meat and potatoes" conservative approach to remixing: this includes the mood and composition of source tunes. It is up to the remixer to create their own personalization, or to simply give it a sound upgrade. Moreover, the compo is a great opportunity to hone your remixing skills and give video game music the respect that is due. SOME reinterpretation is recommended, but not required. MnP Instructions/Guidelines - Not applicable this round, but will be in normal/future rounds. Guidelines: Modifying the Source is fine, so long as it doesn't sound completely separate from its original intent. If you're gonna do a genre change, at least make sure the original aspect of the source is not lost. Tempo changes are fine, as long as it's not a big change. I'm talking like, going from 80bpm to 140bpm. Submissions must be at a maximum of 20mb (keeping in step with ThaSauce's file size max), and submitted as a MP3 file. Only 1 entry per participant. Previous winner cannot participate but can submit a BONUS entry. Try to avoid making quality-based comments on submissions until after the Round is concluded. It is to avoid a Bias in Votes. For this round you can remix more than one source. Do make sure you let me know which source(s) you've picked in the submission notes. MISC/TIPS - When picking a source tune, make sure it has a MIDI to make people's lives easier. - In-game sound FX are permitted, so long as they don't comprise the whole track (i.e. replacing entire MIDI tracks with just sfx)
  13. Results In 1st place with 12 points: Souperion The 2nd and last place hero with 10 points: TheVideoGamer Wassup Thunder created a bonus mix. Souperion please PM me with your source pick for Round 131. Normally i'd say next week, however the next round is a special round, so this one is another double dose for 131. Deadline is the 20th of January. Thanks. Next round will be a Double Dose round. So whoever wins MnP130 will also be selecting a source for MnP131. 2 sources for the price of one! Congrats to everyone who participated, you peeps did great! Comments: Very short turnout this time. Maybe it's a January/February thing i don't know. Oh well, the next round is a special start of 2022 round! Keep and eye out for that!
  14. Congrats Wassup Thunder! A dam shame i missed this one, this is one of my all time favourite tunes... Oh well, i'll share my thoughts for each one. This one might give me a fair something to talk about, since i know the tune a lot. From the top. Wassup Thunder - I assume Dragon Valley was inspired by this stage lol. Nice of you to attempt to incorporate Japanese instruments. Really changes the location, but doesn't loose the feel. Awesome idea to incorporate a guitar into the mix, although the guitar is very weirdly detuned, it's a beautiful way to switch things up, since the original is too reliant on the piano. Also i love how you've managed to add some of your own chords there, they work super well. Amazing strings and flutes, it's very vibrant. There's only 2 problems i feel could be improved upon, and honestly i couldn't really articulate exactly the problems, because the good stuff was outweighing the bad. I will say, the main melody, doesn't get used as much, which is why i love the composition so much, i feel it's too reliant on original material. Second i feel we could break it down in the same way it does with the main melody, at around 2 minutes into the original composition. I also don't feel the sudden switchup at the end (I think you're remixing Dragon Valley here?). It took me out of the flow (Even more jarring when you end on the Dragon Road motif.) I don't know, that was too...left-field for me. The sounds and melodies were lovely, and the idea was amazing, it just needs a few things for me, but other than that, lovely stuff, well done! Souperion - Man this is soo different, i would have loved to see you work on more on this! The idea is sooo different, i love it. Especially love the chord progression in this, sounds like the original, but it feels like it's been switched up into something new. Loving the eastern instrumentation, plays right into the traditional feel of the composition, instead of the electronic elements. The sounds are lovely, the chords are really something. The melody does get masked personally, the chords seem to be pushing it down. I also feel like more could be added, it's like an intro to the main event, however though the rest was lovely, you did a really awesome job on the arrangement, well done!
  15. Ok so i've finally managed to get around to listening to these. Let's take it from the top: Souperion - Nice Euro vibes in this one, very much feels like it belongs in a racing game. To be the fair the original was a bluesy song. I don't think anyone has incorporated the vocals to the mix yet lol, but i think that's the humour of the source. Great drums, very nice electronica feels, melody was tight too. I love how vibrant and energetic it sounds, definately belongs in a racing game. Big fan of the synths here. The only critique i have is, that there are moments where it get's a bit too intense, specifically in the drums. I feel like they're could be a little less drum usage in certain areas, maybe make it more of a simple 4/4, than going all out in the fills. I love me some heavy music, but for a source like this, i feel like it could do with a breakdown or two. The whole thing was super nice though, the sound effects towards the end was CRAZY. Definately some super enjoyable production, you did a great job on this, well done! Wassup Thunder - Another Eurobeat tune, it almost feels like you were feeding off each other lol. This would have actually made it really hard to vote for either of you guys, since both are pretty much the same genre lol. I will admit, i do like the melody work in this one a lot, really great synth usage. Really adds a lot of cool touches to the track. The fills in this one are more pronounced too i really like it a lot. The pitch slide (Almost like a guitar slide), gets way too loud for me. I can't tell if it's a guitar, sounds like a Theremin. Ending was awesome, loved that tid-bit, of having a crash followed by the victory theme, ton of fun. So far i'm having little to talk about in this round, because both tracks are very similar, (and are also well produced), but if i have to be honest, i prefer Souperions over yours, but i think it's because the drums are more thicker in that track, compared to this. However this one was a ton of fun, and very well produced. Well done! studionimbus.org - Very sweet guitar effects, loving the chorus, reverb and delay on the whole thing. Really digging the live aspect of this, it's a real band with real instruments. The fill into the main guitar riff was sweet. Didn't expect you to actually sing the song lol, massive props to that. I love your take on this, it's very much a rock band cover, compared to the orchestral pop original. The main critiques i have in this remix mostly stems from mixing and your voice. First your voice is very dry, i would sub some reverb in there. Also i feel the drums could do with being a little bit more powerful, more often than not, they get lost into the mix, especially for a track this rocking. Other than that though, your guitar licks were beautiful, i loved your playing. I also love that you actually attempted to sing this thing, i didn't think you would actually do that, awesome on that part. The whole thing was super enjoyable to listen to, great ideas. Well done!
  16. Looks like i'll need a bigger case to store all of my wooden spoons in haha. Got some catching up on entries to do. I'll post my comments here, since i missed voting:
  17. Free Round eh? Looks like my OST department is open for business

  19. I know the feeling, i could have added an bonus, but got caught up in a few problems, so i'll have to post comments instead. Good round all!
  20. Daam, i was looking forward to making a track for this one. It's a shame i lost my internet, this could have been one to go to town with. Oh well. I guess 2 entries will have to be it. I'll post my thoughts on each one below, to catch-up on what i've missed. Hope you guys had fun!
