Not intending to double poast, but I am dropping in to say that I have submitted my second Christmas track.
Both are radically different from my 2019 tracks, btw
-
I got one finished so far. Sending it by PM, as I'm not uploading it anywhere public until late next month.
Also, sorry about last year. A certain individual in my life really dragged me down without me even realizing it until it was too late.

Looking for this soundtrack on vgz to rip the instruments

I shortened it, arranged a few things, complete overhaul on sound design and mixing. I intend to make a few small changes.
Here's what it sounds like now

And if anyone is curious, here is the one from last year (the one that got rejected)

I added a little bit of extra stuff just to fill the sound space. Tons of MIDI editing done as well.
I used all Sonic 3 sound driver instruments here, but opted for 80s style drum samples because I thought they would sound better.

You know, I liked Trism's mix the best, but I voted for TheVideoGamer's mix as first place because I felt that it more closely met what MnP is about. Both fantastic tracks, though. The bonus tracks were great as well.

Take your pick.

Dude... You know most of these source tunes are from classic era Sonic games, right?
That being said, I recently remixed (and submitted) Flying Battery Zone (originally from Sonic & Knuckles), and I have a WIP of Lava Reef Zone (both acts) sitting around somewhere.
Here's the Flying Battery Zone remix. Melodic trap /EDM style.

What kind of style do you seek? Are you going fully modern? Or are you looking to give it just a slight upgrade? By slight upgrade I mean like maybe a slightly newer console than Amiga.
If you were thinking to go full 16-bit console style, I'd be your guy, so long as I could find a decent source. VGM/VGZ or MIDI formats would be something I could use. Here's why I'd be the guy for that

If you're looking for something else, do let me know while I seek out something I could use. I am capable of more than chip sounds. Meanwhile, see if you can do a VGM dump of the tunes with an emulator or something. That may help future candidates.

There are only two tracks I can choose... I would think there would be more participation with all the quarantines going on.
By the way, I cast my vote. Both submissions were fantastic, thanks for the ear candy, guys!

Question: is there a preferred sample rate for the output wav file? I use 44.1kHz.
-
I think I'll go in on this one. Kirby be having some nice tunes, and this one is no exception.

I'm updating this with several collaborative works. All of these were initially written by swosp, and what you hear in all of these tracks contain varying degrees of alterations to the original composition.
The first one is kinda vaporwave and utilizes the Sonic 3 sound driver.
https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/927801
Next, I kinda just played with the sounds until I found something that sounded just right to me. Also kinda mellow, but not as mellow as the first one in this reply.
https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/925873
Next is some of the heavier stuff swosp wrote for a symphonic metal side project.
https://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/923063
And here's the one that got him started sending me his MIDI. At the time when I made this, I had no knowledge of his old metal project, for which he had originally written this. He had uploaded it as an 8 bit chiptune, and my first thought was to not just Genesize it, but metallize it as well. This is the result of my work with it.

If you just search Google for "Satiment Alidwel Grothen," you'll find not only the 8 bit version, but not too deep into the results is the original rendition under the band name "Absilentia."
Here's swosp's Newgrounds page. He's rather versatile, as he also produces beats and EDM (and then some).

Hmmm...

Should I mix it up like a full OC ReMix rearrangement, but keep the sound on the SEGA Genesis sound chip? I'm thinking yes.

I've decided to not keep making a new thread every time I post new SEGA Genesis music. Instead, I'll throw it all in this thread from this point going forward.
I'll throw this up first. It's a collab:

This is really more of a shitpoast than a serious remix

Hell yes!
I’m probably gonna pick up the RYM2612 because based on the sound examples and what you made with it it is worth the price and will help me achieve some of those sought after genesis tones that my current synths and plugins can only kind of get. I can get some nice Genesis esque tones from my Volca FM but it is very limited in its capability being that its bascially a toy and has limited midi I/O options. Thanks for sharing all the info and if you do make a tutorial on this subject make sure to tag me in it so I can find it easily cuz I’d totally watch it.
Cheers!
Hey, just a quick note, if you use Reason, you can get RYM2612 as actual hardware. I suppose you would need a MIDI keyboard to use it, though.
Inphonik (the developer) is very attentive to user feedback and questions, if you have any. They're based in France, keep that in mind as far as time zones go.
