  1. Check the Master track output in the mixer.. make sure it's pointing to the right place.
  2. Are you depressed that you missed the $5 Antigravity sale on August 1st? Do you need a new fix of fresh sgx music? Have you been experiencing serious deficiencies in phat beats? Then listen up! For one month, starting today, sgx and I are running a deal on CDBaby where you can get Better Than Sliced Beats, Chroma, and Antigravity for a mere $15 plus shipping. Yes, three albums for *fifteen dollars*... less than your average single-CD purchase at FYE. If you've enjoyed our remixes, heard our releases on the WIP: Other forum, and seen others talking about our CDs but just couldn't scrounge up the money, now you have NO excuse. Taking advantage of this killer bundle is simple. Go to the following CD Baby pages and add all 3 CDs to your cart. When you do, the price will become $5 per CD. Worth noting: once you've done this, you can purchase many other CDs on the site for an additional $5 only (there's a whole section for it). Here are the links, where you can also read reviews and listen to previews: www.cdbaby.com/sgx - Better Than Sliced Beats www.cdbaby.com/sgx2 - Chroma www.cdbaby.com/zircon3 - Antigravity Whether you're a fan of sgx, zircon, OC ReMix, or even just electronic music in general, hours and hours of tasty beats for $15 is too good to pass up. And if TWO artists isn't enough, between the three CDs you'll hear guest appearances and tracks by artists like GrayLightning, Prophecy, pixietricks, Fishy, DJ Zenith (Hy Bound), Nicole Adams, Aurora, and others. But don't procrastinate... this deal won't be around forever. Enjoy! Feel free to post questions, comments, reviews (etc) here.
  3. AudioMIDI has a lot of VSL stuff at an even lower price; eg. http://www.audiomidi.com/Overdrive---Horizon-Series-P4477.aspx
  4. If you absolutely MUST change mid-project, then just make a new project file, bounce the results, and import back in to your old one as necessary.
  5. I'll cut right to the chase. There are some amazing deals going on right now in the world of audio that you NEED to check out, whether you've already got a ton of stuff or you're just starting off. -- Line 6 Toneport UX1 USB Recording Interface - $104.95 http://www.scitscat.com/catalog/line-toneport-recording-interface-p-1502.html Any guitarists here? This is an all-in-one, kickass external USB interface designed for guitar, bass, and vocal recording, which includes high quality Line 6 plugins for guitar/amp modeling and effects. These are the same models used in the hardware Pod that is highly acclaimed. Native Instruments Battery 3 - $89 http://www.novamusik.com/search.aspx?type=Model&keyword=2909 Want drums? Battery 3 provides some awesome kits of all kinds, from rock, to brushed jazz, pop, hip-hop, electronic, etc. VST format though you can just use the WAVs as oneshots in your sequencer. At $89, there are no comparable, quality plugins in this range. It's also a fully-featured sampler that you can load your own samples into for playback/mangling. M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI Soundcard - $65 http://www.scitscat.com/catalog/maudio-audiophile-2496-system-p-584.html While not the best soundcard, the audiophile is an excellent choice for home musicians. If you're just starting out and all you have is onboard sound or a basic Soundblaster card, this will be a nice upgrade. Unbeatable price. Sennheiser HD-280 Headphones - $69.96 http://www.scitscat.com/catalog/sennheiser-black-professional-headphones-p-256.html Want good headphones? You should be paying way more for these. Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Silver + Silver Pro XP - $195 http://www.soundsonline.com/EWQLSO-Silver-Bundle-pr-EW-161PROB1.html An amazing collection of orchestral sounds, plus piano + choir. If you like the tone of remixes such as Shnabubula's latest "Mario Likes Thorazine", Jared Hudson's "The Frontier", Vampire Hunter Dan's "Twilight of the Millienium", Star Salzman's "Advance With Caution", or many other orchestral remixes, then you'll want the library that helped create quite a few of them.
  6. It's being used in a parodical or satirical manner. You can't copyright gameplay ideas - the fact that it's strikingly similar is 100% irrelevant. The only things to worry about are Toad, Mario, and Luigi. In the game, they hurt their hands playing Wii and generally don't do anything of note. It would be much worse if the game creators actually used those characters as the main ones, but they're more like backdrops here. Also, as as matter of fact, plenty of people - myself included - DO use OCR to draw people towards their sites. Nothing wrong with it, really. People who like my remixes are more inclined to buy my music; the vast majority of my sales are directly linked to this community. Just saying... let's not get overzealous here.
  7. As much as I hate PETA... 1. They could very easily make a very good argument for fair use for two reasons... (a) the works used are done so in a parodic or satirical manner ( the usage has no impact on the potential market for the original work. Frankly PETA would have a far better chance of making their case than OCR would. 2. Nintendo wouldn't "sue the fuck out of them" regardless - at most they would do a C&D. 3. It is unlikely Nintendo would really care about this enough to bring it to court, given the thousands upon thousands of Flash games and videos featuring their characters.
  8. Yes. Options -> Project General Settings, change "Beat" from 4 to 5.
  9. Remixer: Beatdrop (Dain Olsen) Game: Guilty Gear X Remix Name: Alpha Blade Link: Source: "Suck A Sage" (2:45:52 PM) Beatdrop: I guess I could note that I chopped out most of the soloing, since it didn't really lend itself to the transition to trance.
  10. Well... the best way to do it would probably be to convert from OGG to WAV (Winamp can do this automatically with the waveout output plugin, which is included) and then WAV to MP3. You WILL lose quality but hopefully not too much.
  11. I'm always impressed by Skrypnyk's drum programming skills - while his work on "Back 2 Skala" is fantastic, the programming here is absolutely top-notch. The main groove is killer, but all the detailed fills, record scratches, and effects make it truly a standout. Production overall is ace, too. Combine all that with a highly interpretive (but not too liberal!) arrangement and you've got an awesome remix. Good job Skryp. YES
  12. Really a fantastic remix. Better in basically every single way than the original sub, which already had a good arrangement and just needed the production spice. The only weak link is the viola, which is not as tightly performed or recorded as the other elements, but it's certainly not bad and does compliment the mix well. YES
  13. The execution here is definitely iffy... the sequencing is mechanical at times and there is not a lot of automation going on to create dynamics. Additionally, as mentioned by some of the other judges, the samples are not great. The exposed lead brass later in the song (after the midway point) is by far the weakest, with the french horns being much more passable. The overall volume is also a little on the low side. But while the samples aren't the hottest, the arrangement is wonderful. It's emotive, dynamic, and richly textured. While better samples would make it far more powerful, I think this just meets our standard for production, and goes well above our bar for interpretation. Great first sub, I hope to hear more from you! YES
  14. www.cdbaby.com/zircon3 Also try any of bLiNd's mixes, or some originals by tefnek (www.tefnek.com)
  15. Yeah, I have ample hosting. Lotd; Maybe a little more sleek than that. Here's an excellent example site- http://orpheusmusiclibrary.com/orpheus/Category/8
  16. 1. HTML is fine, basically the emphasis is just on usability and sleekness. As I said though, previews can be done via a Flash player if that would be easier (I honestly have no idea). 2. I don't have any content yet, though I do have some sample MP3s that can be used to test the system, and can write up text as necessary for the different parts of the site. I leave almost all aesthetics to the designer. 3. Let's say, 3 week timetable? 4. Maintenance of the site should be minimal, but I would want someone who will be around to help if changes need to be made - for example, I should be able to add new songs easily by myself, but if we need to add a whole other page to the site and add to the navigation, I'll need help.
  17. I'm looking for someone who can design a SIMPLE, sleek website for a new project of mine, "zircon media". Basically the site will be a catalogue of music that can be previewed and immediately paid for (via Paypal) and downloaded for use in TV, film, video games, ads, or any other media purposes. The site may eventually have an image and video section as well, for other stock material. The site should be easily navigable and straightforward, nothing too fancy... Flash may be used for streaming song previews, and the music itself will be downloadable via a custom system that Xerol has already developed. Paypal supplies the cart and the buttons. Easy enough, right? I have a small budget for this, but it's a simple project so it shouldn't require massive effort. Please post if you're interested.
  18. Sound effects are not really my specialty... I can cover some stuff like ambience (rain, birds, traffic, wind, etc) but that's about it. I can always improvise in a tight spot of course.
  19. Given that the guy said he is only contracting two people, and he will be doing everything else, I would say that is reasonable. Additionally, as I wrote, on a minute-by-minute basis the quoted price is far lower than industry standard. Consider how lucky the programmer will be, who (in this arrangement) would get 4/5 of the development cost. But regardless, as I said, I'm happy to accommodate his needs and budget as necessary.
  20. For the same budget, yeah, in that ballpark... but it really depends on a couple key variables, such as exactly how much music is needed. A 60 minute film with a budget of $10k could require 60 minutes of very tightly scored music (eg. an animated film), or 15 minutes of music that doesn't need to be exactly timed.
  21. pixietricks covered the Forest Temple already http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01333/
  22. Hey, I would love to provide music for you! You might already be familiar with my remixes, but also check out my website which has some testimonials and a portfolio of original game music as well. I'm an experienced composer and though many examples on my website are electronic in nature, I can write music in all styles. Besides the original VGM work I've done, I've written dozens of compositions for other media projects, many of which I (unfortunately) cannot post publically for contractual reasons. However, at your request, I can compose a custom demo for you once you have enough of a design sketch ready to know the general type of music you want, just to be sure. If your total budget for the game is $10,000 and you're looking for 12 tracks, a rough estimate might be $1500-2000 - though the exact quote would depend on a few other factors, such as deadlines, length of the music, control of the rights, etc. I am, of course, flexible and will make sure all your needs are met without breaking your budget! The typical going rate for game music starts at around $500 per minute of finished music and goes to $1000 or higher, but since you are a smaller independent developer, those prices are not exactly realistic. Music really can make or break a game, and most indie developers give it very low priority... don't make that mistake! If you decide to go with my services for your project, I will work with you every step of the way and make sure the music is absolutely tailored to your liking. Feel free to PM me, email (admin@zirconstudios.com) or call me (- 215-531-0798 -) if you are interested and would like to discuss details. I look forward to working with you.
