  1. I think it's time I started posting in this topic. I mean, I AM in the project after all... o_O
  2. As long as I can decompress it back to WAV, I'll be happy as an oyster.
  3. I'm glad that there's gonna be a lossless version. However, sending WAVs can be a bit of a hassle, especially for those with slower connections. Is is alright if FLAC or SHN (lossless formats) are used? As for using MSN, try using webmessenger or e-messenger... (Web Based). You *may* be able to use it, at least until you get your capable system set up. By the way, you may want to update the first page. I'm not too sure yet on other lossless formats. We'll talk it over and we'll see. And there, a cheap update, I just copy and pasted some of the stuff..
  4. Alright people, I know it's been wierd having both me and KFC pretty much gone for some time. Alot of you are probably feeling like the project has slowed down a good chunk. Well, I'm here to tell you all that I'm gonna be able to manage the project from here for now. I'm gonna start getting on some people for work, and giving some critique to others. All who are involved with the project can share their work amongst one another. So please do that. I keep stressing that getting advice from peers is the best way to improve, the reason for that is because... IT'S TRUE So yeah, keep working, don't slack off, and help one another. Also, all the people on MSN Messenger: I'm sorry that I haven't been in contact with you guys for a few weeks now. I've not been able to get MSN installed properly on this really old PC, so I can't really communicate with you for at least a few more days. I'll get back to all of you as soon as I get a capable system set up over here, and we'll get back to the music. THERE ARE NO MORE DEADLINES FROM THIS POINT ON! From now on, we're in the biggest part of the project. We've gotten a good team settled down thanks to our previous deadlines, and now it's time to really get to work on final versions. I'm gonna be asking for work slowly, and especially by late August to beginning of September. I'm expecting everyone to have a final track done by then. As for people who are doing more than one song, I expect at least 3/4 of your workload to be done by that time. As soon as we have all of the tracks together, we will begin with the final touches like normalizing, limiting, any extra mastering, or whatever else. Like I keep saying, this is a group effort. Some people may be asked to send me a .zip file of the individual WAVs of their project so I or someone more capable can mix them. Depending on how well a job you do on your own. And another thing. I know alot of you are using FL. FL has a nice little render mp3 option. This is okay for demos and whatever that you're sending me, but for the FINAL album versions, I'm expecting full quality wavs. That's 44khz 16bit wavs, there should be an option to export this instead of an MP3 (and it's usually a much quicker export too).
  5. Holy Fuck! I let this go for a few days and this is what happens? Everyone must chill out. Hadyn is a permanent part of this team and is not getting kicked off at all. Sorry KFC, but I gotta stand my ground on that one. Anyway, I won't be able to return to the boards for another few days, so I'll just say that everyone should relax and work on their music.
  6. Heyo Beatdrop, very awesome job you did on the track. I love the percussion, it really makes the song. I'm workin' on Flying Battery with Housethegrate. As with all my other work for this album, it'll be a fusion of different styles. I'm planning to have strong percussion also, with a mix of heavy rhythm and lead guitar (done by house). Hopefully I can get something as cool as this
  7. That's been planned for years, I just never got around to it Also, level 2 from Metal Slug 3 But yeah, right now this Sonic project is taking up 90% of my time. I'm even gonna be composing the other songs in GM while I'm on vacation...
  8. Maybe sometime after this Sonic thing, and after the tales thing...
  9. Trading songs between project members is not only okay, but encouraged! No better way to learn than to compare, says me.
  10. Oh shit. Major revision time. It doesn't have to be identical, but try to retain some of the original.
  11. That's right, bitches, this project opened the new Ruthless Snapple flavor. Same great taste, and without all that RUTH!
  12. Like stated above. Nobody claimed Boss 1. KFC was not happy with any of the WIPs so far (from what I understand, at least) and gave the track to Rellik. There's no need to get upset about it. From the beginning we said that it was about the music and nothing else. Alot of people are taking our rejections personally, which is understandable, but this is not about who we personally like. It's about who we feel will do the song justice, and make the best possible version. Ofcourse, this opens up the point of "Personal tastes are different, how do you know what the best version of the song is?" Better is just better. I mean, sure, someone may have an idea that is great, but overall some people are able to produce better quality work. As cold as that sounds, it's the way it has to be done. The main thing we want here, is to retain a good ammount of the original songs feel, while adding your own twist. We're not doing "music based on Sonic 3" we're arranging the soundtrack. Listen to any professional arranged soundtrack. All of the compositions are close to the original, with a tasteful ammount of arrangement and artists originality. This is not gonna be another Hedgehog Heaven. The bar is set extremely high. And for those who can make the cut, it'll be a testament to the very best music that OCR has to offer. What I want to hear from people is complex percussion, flowing melodies, and rhythm that keeps you interested. That means DO NOT loop a 4 note bassline and a one measure long drum section with a pad over it.
  13. Alright people, I'm gonna be leaving for vacation in a couple days. I'll probably be unable to get online for a week or so, then I should be reachable. Send any and all PMs and work to KFC only for now. He'll take care of the project till I can secure a good connection where I'm going. I wont be able to take any of my old projects with me, but I can start new ones there (in GM midi), so when I get back I'll just have to record the tracks and call it done. Again, everything goes to KFCs capable hands. I'd apreciate it if all of you musicians started hasslin eachother for work Nothing get's a team going like the team itself. So get shit done!
  14. An insane cramming session which, due to my working two of those three days, made me unable to contribute my rhythm tracks to the remix . The only work of mine in this remix is the feedback between the clean intro and distorted part . Glad to see this mix got posted though, it's a badass mix. Hah, indeed! We had a huge 3 way collaboration planned. Too bad you were so busy man, next time!
  15. I think someone should fix this in the first post. it's pretty ambiguous. I agree, let's all bug KFC to do it, I'm tired
  16. Thanks to everyone for the kind words! There's a bit of a story here about this song. I submitted the VGmix version just to get in the judging panel early, while I worked on a "complete" version of the song. Well, it got to the panel, and I asked Gray to postpone the judging till I could finish the revised version. I asked Rubbler for new takes on the rhythm and bass guitars, I recorded new takes for the leads (added some new stuff and some rhythm guitar too), and redid the drums. BUT... I just didn't feel right releasing it. This version that's on both VGmix and OCR, is the result of an INSANE 3 day cramming session we did to get this done for DOD. I re-mixed it for the VGmix release, but that's as far as I really wanna take this track. I know it may not be perfect, but it's got a very awesome memory attached to it that I'd feel wrong to change.
  17. BIG UPDATE COMING IN A MINUTE, PEOPLE! Check front page!
  18. www.cvrepertoire.net/Accounts/SnappleMan/Mixdown_Piano.mp3 There, I mixed it using my piano setup. The end cuts off abruptly cuz of your midi, I can fix that if you want. Anyway, tell me if you think that's acceptable, if not, ask one of the other dudes for help.
  19. Yeah, I agree. KFC has his strong points, but piano aint one of them, I strongly suggest Krispy or Kanjika.
  20. I DO use MSN... And Beatdrop, my intention was not to make you appear as an elitist or anything, I apologise if you feel like you were mis-represented. I must admit, I wasn't really 100% clear on the matter. So again, I hope you'll accept my apology. And yeah, people, I am on MSN, AndyDash@hotmail.com. I have a few of you on there! you just never respond!
