  1. 370+ replies and I JUST NOW heard of this project? I must be getting old... I just hope you people do a better job than that Hedgehog Heaven piece of trash.
  2. Well, looks like I'll be working on an EWJ remix... Hah, it's funny when you think about it, Tommy's butt rock and my crotch rock might be on the same album together... So, in essance, I'll be fucking him in the ass... not that I want to... or anything like that... ... ... ... Okay, so I'm a FGT, so what!?
  3. Regardless, the remix of it is among my top 5 favorites from the CD! now see i didn't know there were five songs that had real guitar. ZINGER! U GOT ME THERE PAL!
  4. Regardless, the remix of it is among my top 5 favorites from the CD!
  5. I've come out of hibernation/lurking to say that you are not alone. Maybe I'm just missing something here since I didn't follow the creation of this album on the forums. The songs are great in production quality and could easily stand alone, but some of them bear so little resemblance to the game's tracks that I struggle to find the original melody. I just don't see how some of them made it into an album dedicated to the game. But as one above poster said, beggars can't be choosers. I'm just disappointed that the classic melodies I'd loved from DKC years ago are so subdued and hard to follow in the tracks on this album. I had a similar problem with some of the tracks on there. Especially the Factory theme by Gray. While a marvelous song on its own, I was dissapointed in the 'remix' part of it. That's why I always keep my mixes close to the original. Either way, listen to it for the quality of the music, don't listen to it mainly for nostalgia. I mean, I have my problems with some of the more liberal mixes, but still, they're great pieces of music and I listen to everything because it all sounds good. The ammount of work we all put into this collaboration, and the determination it took to keep certain people onboard, and to keep our collective patience from wearing thin, is clearly evident in the production level of this project. I know I'm one to normally bash remixes, but as some people here know, I'm only honest. And most of the time, it's a negative reaction. But this time, I can honestly say that every song on here (except for a certain song that was voted on by some fags) is a masterpiece! God damn, I'm so bored.... Just enjoy the fuckin thing, good music is good music, period.
  6. What they all said. Tis some good listening, Mr.Gray. I just wish you wouldn't be so damn liberal with your remixes Overall, I can't really say anything that wasn't said before, so I'll just say that this is a GREAT remix. one of the best on this site.
  7. I think the main problem Gray and I had in this mix, was the freedom given to each of us. Gray pretty much gave me a completed song and said "okay, do whatever you want with the guitar, you have complete freedom." I didn't really know where to start with it, so I had Gray choose the tone that he liked best for the song. In the end, I think it's a very good remix, but theres a problem in that I had no previous work on it, so going into it just to record the guitar was kinda awkward and unfamiliar. The issues some people may be having with it, are most likely because other than the guitar, no other elements of my style are in the song. Anyway, it was a pleasure to work with Gray, and I'm very much looking forward to doing a full collaboration with him some time in the future.
  8. This is the only remix from the game though. So you can't really compare it to the remixes from Star Ocean, which is a different game alltogether.
  9. Not only that, but it's completely transcribed by ear! I mean cmon, anyone who needs a MIDI file is sad and pathetic!...... Seriously though, I'm glad you guys enjoyed it! I don't think it lives up to Moonchildes claims, but hey, it's nice to see ones work being enjoyed by others. Hmmm.... might it be in bad taste to reply to my own review thread? The shoe is clearly on the other foot now, although I'll be walking in circles.
  10. Well, let's see here. I like the overall theme, takes in a bunch of different ethnic influences and actually makes them work together. The mix itself was very enjoyable to me, and it got even better when I heard those blazing Tablas! Oh man! Whoever played/sequenced those is a genius!
  11. I heard this song a while back when it was on VG mix, so you get the copy and paste of my VGMix review: "Interesting... experimental shit done right, for once. PROS - The percussion here is superb (the tribal/ethnic shite)/ - The synth at the beginning is BOSS. Pure 80's! - The equally 80's bass is rocking also! - Good choice of musac to mix. - The piano section at the end is really awesome, you we gotta talk about hooking me up with them piano samples. - You seem to have fixed the gripes I had with the first version you sent me, always cool. - This song has an old school feel to it, late 80's early 90's stuff goin on. I like. - Techno-ish drums that don't piss me off... for a change. CONS - Needs cheesy 80's guitar to take some of the main melody on occasion. Overall, you surprised me with this one, when I first heard it, I was a bit "..the fuck...?" but it's grown on me and I like it! ALOT...!!! This is my personal example of electronic music done right. Very nice synths, very well done percussion, and nothing that pisses me off. The mixing itself is very well done, and all the levels seem perfect. You've got yourself a winner dude, tis very rare that I give a score this high... so savor it whilst it lasts. I don't say what my scores are in my reviews (unless I am somehow motivated too... usually in a negative way), so if you're interested in knowing what it is, ask me in a PM or instant message or something. "
  12. Five For Fighting and Train suck, it's that kind of mediocre crap that's lowering the standard for all music. I've kept an open mind since I was 11 years old. Over the years I've been able to listen to almost every kind of music out there and narrow down what I really like. And most of what I like just happens to be from the 70's and early 90's, and it also happens to be nothing but forms of metal. By modern, I mean modern genres. Things like thrash metal are still alive and very much great today(with awesome bands like Megadeth, Exodus, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Testament still making creative and well written albums). Every other genre has evolved into shit over the years. The bands I mentioned above are the ONLY ones whos modern records I listen to. This really saddens me though, because the production quality of today is so much better than that of the 70's and 80's. It's just that the music being produced is crap.
  13. My review wasnt meant to be insulting or anything, I'm glad you take it as a compliment. Like I said, I'm impressed by the quality of the song. I just didn't enjoy the song much because of my personal hatred towards the genre itself. It kinda reminds me of that song by The Polyphonic Spree, and there is nothing in the world I hate more right now, than them and that song. The only reason I've listened to it again is those drums, I'm still very impressed level of depth and dynamics that went into that section.
  14. Amazing! You managed to take everything I hate about todays music industry, and combine it into one song! I don't know if I should even bother going into the pros and cons. Production is TOP NOTCH. Honestly, the quality is all there. It's just the notes played, the instruments used, the lyrics, the singing voice, the overall mood of the song, pretty much every but the production is complete trash. But I gotta hand it to you. This sounds professional. This is the kind of shit I'd change the channel over on MTV, pure shit, done very very professionally. And I don't even hear the original theme very well, so to me, this doesn't even seem like much of a remix, more of like, a new piece of shit song for the wannabes uptown to drool over. Overall, I really dig the drums, and overall production, but everything else is just a horrid reminder of why I don't listen to modern music.
  15. Freya on Universe difficulty in Star Ocean 3. No contest.
  16. Am I the only one who finds this empty and boring? It sounds way too unenthusiastic, like elevator music. The composition could use alot of variation and some more things going on in the background. The playing could be better, timing issues mainly. The guitar tone needs more gain to it. The bass sounds off at times, the drums could be more creative... but, I shouldn't go on about what it COULD be, and take it as it is, a cool, but mediocre mix. I like it because I like the game, I don't know if I would otherwise.
  17. I'm lazy, so here's a copy-n-paste of some remarks I have made on this mix at an earlier time! "As the husband of the tri-Ace Superfan, and being an avid Sakuraba listener, I can say that you've done me proud with this one. I tip my hat to you, sir. May your gigantic scrotum continue to grow so you can spawn more Sakuraba remixers for the future of music as we know it." That about sums it up. This mix is very nice indeed!
  18. I like the transitions. Some are better than others ofcourse. I think the guitars could have been a bit heavier and some faster rhythm playing in some parts would have made this flow a little better. But yeah, my main gripe is the testicle-less guitar tone. Other than that, it rocks my cocks.
  19. Finally, a mix worthy of the download time. Just when I've all but given up on this place, I hear a song that restores my faith in some of the people here. I tip my imaginary hat to you man. very nice work. I'll definetly be saving this one.
  20. The vibe I get here, is cheap 80's German techno..... I don't like the drums, I don't like the crappy synth that comes in at 0:29, I don't like the way the song builds to nothing, I do like the paino work, I don't like much anything else... Overall, I give it a 2/10.
  21. Tis pretty good. I like the style of the mix, too bad it had to be used on another Chrono Trigger song... But yeah, not a bad mix. I've gotten really sick of the music from Chrono Trigger, but the mix was enjoyable to the point where I didnt care what game it was from, it was just a good track. I think it's got more of a Chrono Cross vibe, not so much Trigun. Overall, a good remix, not spectacular, but above par.
  22. It flows. Yes indeed. It be a good mix. Not much of a comment, I know, but I've already talked myself to death about this mix in the past. Attach signature (signatures can be changed in profile)
  23. Hehe, good ol Tony Thai, sticking to F-Zero X, one of the best fucking games ever, with the BEST soundtrack ever. This is a very nicely done remix indeed. The dude seems to be obsessed with F-Zero X... I don't know if hes got a brother or something, or just another alias, but a Jimmy Thai (or something like that) has been holding the records for the best times in the game... and try as I do, I always lose by a second or less.... Anyway, yeah, this is just the remix I'd expect from someone who likes the game so much.. very very well done. I, for one, like the mastering and stuff. It gives it a very unique sound, it's like, half live and half synthetic. Overall, this song has the same feel that the music in the game has, that's what does it for me.
