Okay, I've been wondering about this for a while, and this thread gives me the the opportunity to ask. What exactly is the difference between the various versions of the DS? There's the basic DS, the DS Lite, and now this new one that someone mentioned here? Is this just a standard upgrade like Gameboy -> Gameboy Pocket -> Gameboy Color (or GBA -> GBASP, for that matter), or are there actual tradeoffs between the different variations (eg smaller size in exchange for features removed)?

I'd like to change the order in which i view posts
Native Jovian replied to Phoreverof's topic in General Discussion
Go to your control panel (the "User CP" link on the top left), click "Edit Options", scroll down until you see "Thread Display Mode", and then select "Linear - Oldest First" out of the dropdown menu. -
That makes even less sense!

...what? How the hell does looking at your feet make you jump farther? I'm playing the 360 version, so if you're on Steam that might be why.
-
That's probably for the best.

Fixed that for ya, buddy.

3D gaming is officially here! for under 350$!!!
Native Jovian replied to prophetik music's topic in General Discussion
Aw, man, it's just one of those "3-D" things like they have in theme parks? I thought you were talking about some sort of actually-displays-in-three-dimensions display. -
Sorry. Couldn't resist. In other news, I jumped back on the demo last night because I was bored, and it appears to be inhabited entirely by 12 year olds now. Apparently all the big kids actually went out and bought the damn game. Curses. They also figured out how to jump from the rooftop in the very beginning of No Mercy to the vent-fan-things attached to the wall on the far side of the alley. This allows them to jump straight down to the alley without dying, bypassing the apartment building completely. I have no bloody idea how they accomplish this because every time I try I can't jump far enough and I go splat.

Because it would be a PR catastrophe for the gaming crowd, given our currently sterling reputation among the mainstream. Right? -

TLoZ: Majora's Mask has some potent tracks
Native Jovian replied to MuraRengan's topic in ReMix Requests
You realize that that's from Link's Awakening, right? There's already a handful of remixes for it. Yes! The Milk Bar music was always great, I'd love to see someone make a remix of it. -
http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=12779 Video game video reviews that he started on Youtube as a hobby and got picked up by some magazine. He basically hates everything and says so very quickly and with visual aids for your viewing pleasure. I think he's an annoying bastard, but other people worship him. Maybe it's the Britishness. Edit: ninja'd. Curse you, Zephyr.

I picked up Fallout 3 the other day; here's hoping he digs it. Grabbed one of those quick-and-dirty world history books by some company or something called Mental Floss (edit: this!). I read the first chapter or so last night; it's pretty entertaining. I'd reccommend it for anyone who's got intellectual leanings and a dry sense of humor, regardless of whether they're history buffs or not.

Have someone on your holiday shopping list and just don't know what to get them? OCR is here to help! Ask your fellow forum-goes for advice and suggestions. I'll start. I need to get something for my brother. He's 25, and just got his hands on a PS3 for cheap, but doesn't have much in the way of games for it. He's not a gamer, exactly, so he's not up on big titles or anything like that. He's got Warhawk (which he likes), Army of Two (which he said sucks), and MGS4 (which he hasn't played yet). I picked up The Force Unleashed for him because I found it for cheap, but I want to get another game or two. I was thinking about Fallout 3, because I know he's heard of it (he asked me about it once) but I'm not sure it's a good game for a casual gamer. You think it might be a little too time intensive, or can you have fun with it just by wandering around killing stuff? What about Little Big Planet? I don't know a thing about it except that it's a PS3 exclusive and it's supposed to be good. What's the deal with it? Think it's worth picking up? Only eight days left 'til Christmas, guys! Go go last minute ideas!

Your Music in a Video Game with Novo Interactive!
Native Jovian replied to MrSneak's topic in General Discussion
This part I get. This part confuses me. You want it to be different from the standard fantasy soundtrack, but still sound like a fantasy sountrack? -
He did? Where did he say that? If there's an article or something behind that comment I'd like to read it.

So, wait a second. You love the game, but you don't like playing in VS mode and you don't like playing in co-op mode. So what part of the game do you like?

Wait wait wait wait. You graduated with a CS degree in May and you actually have a job in the field? And you're complaining? I most emphatically wish to say "screw you", good sir. *graduated with a CS degree in July and hasn't been able to land a job outside an IT monkey at an elementary school where he spends half is time babysitting kids and the other half with such mentally stimulating tasks as setting up printers and installing programs for teachers because they don't have the privileges to do it themselves.*
