I have also done some preliminary tests using an onion instead of a potato and it shows great promise. Because the onion (unlike the potato) consists of concentric rings, it is possible to stab it just the right way with 1/4" instrument cables such that the tips occupy the same ring and conduct along that ring selectively. The membrane that exists within the interstitial space between onion rings acts somewhat like an insulator such that the sleeve(s) of the cable are able to ground together without interrupting the signal of the tip as much as the potato. Future recordings using 3 electric guitars as a microphone will incorporate both the potato for its natural distortion and amplification qualities, as well as the onion for its tonal quality. And I do love good quality onion rings...

Thank you! This track is part of an analog alt-project wherein I record piano but the microphone is 3 electric guitars. The signal path is then pushed through a high-voltage gain-stacked potato to create the abyssal sounds (yes, a potato). There are some videos on my youtube that explain how I accomplish this and it's very simple, all things considered. The tracks are mostly just single practice takes that I'm doing for fun, but I am currently working on an album with more structure (and vocals) to be published in the (hopefully) near future. Anyway! There are more tracks on my youtube and I also have a soundcloud for "the microphone is 3 electric guitars". Enjoy! p.s. i have a bandcamp too: https://100-percent-roemer.bandcamp.com/

The one-and-only "Potato Pedal" It's a potato juiced from 0 and 45 volts with 1/4" inputs Any type of potato works - size is inversely proportional to signal strength You can briefly warm the potato in a microwave beforehand to add warmth to the tone Potato in use:

"Are you awake? You were talking recently about the meaning... of our... life... unselfishness of art... Let's take music... It's really least of all connected; to say the truth, if it is connected at all, then in an idealess way, mechanically, with an empty sound... Without... without associations... Nonetheless the music miraculously penetrates into the very soul! What is resonating in us in answer to the harmonized noise? And turns it for us into the source of great delight... And unites us, and shakes us? What is its purpose? And, above all, for whom? You will say: for nothing, and... and for nobody, just so. Unselfish. Though it's not so... perhaps... For everything, in the end, has its own meaning... Both the meaning and the cause..." - The Stalker, STALKER 1979 S.T.A.L.K.E.R.ep - Track List: 0:00 Onaip (piano) 1:35 Boatdown (guitar) 3:19 CONSTRICTION (rusty chair) 4:57 ChickeringYeet (piano) 7:58 Door (guitar) 12:09 HOTPOCKETS.wav (drum samples + rusty chair) 13:55 Ping (piano) 15:12 GunslingerDisease (accordion) 18:19 Roadside Picnic (guitar + vocals) S.T.A.L.K.E.R.ep composed, performed, and recorded by 100%ROEMER Visualizer programming by 100%ROEMER All rights reserved This ep created in honor of Andrei Tarkovsky's STALKER *DISCLAIMER* All film stills and original movie artwork property of Andrei Tarkovsky, MOSFILM, and KINO International - THIS EP INTENDED FOR FISH ONLY, NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION *DISCLAIMER* #postapocalypticmusic #darkambientmusic #STALKER #tarkovsky #fishmusic #100_percent_roemer

Over the years I've come to really love working with FL frequency splitter. It allows the user to take any track/waveform, split it into three user-defined frequency bands, and then "send" those bands to individual sends for further processing while at the same time retaining the original waveform. In short, instant triple-band parallel processing! I don't do much remixing but I do enjoy taking my old track waveforms and playing with them to see what they can become with a little slowing and alteration of the fundamental pitch for A (A = 432hz and 528hz FTW). I took an old track that, for whatever reason, came out perfectly mixed (to my ears at least) and reduced it down further to its most basic components, removed the kick drum entirely but left the 808, and had some fun with it. Happy with it before, and happy with it even more. Also, famisynth is the only synth you need in life. Original track: A=432hz Frequency split: entire track pitched down by a perfect 4th with A reset to 528hz
