Team OverClocked ReMix - Folding@Home
100_PERCENT ROEMER replied to 100_PERCENT ROEMER's topic in General Discussion
Guess Covid gave this a boost the past year. Glad to see people still fighting the good fight. -
Thanks! This was made using three instances of famisynth, some standard drumkit samples, and one 808. Trying to keep it simple (tons of FX though). One of these days I'll finally get around to submitting a remix but I've also been telling myself that for 18 years now, hah.

The only sample came from my 4 year old daughter singing. The rest was just a lot of morphine and toxic biohazard synths along with careful automation on panning and gain. Lots of fx on the vocal sample too. This track is BGM for a game I'm working on at the moment. It's the part that plays before you get attacked by a fucked up genetically engineered human-shark hybrid monstrosity.

Good stuff. I enjoyed the track and the energy. Each transition was really smooth and enjoyable. Nice work

Thanks! I just recently started getting into remixing. I remember the leads of the original song being way more metal than what I have, if I revisit the track I'll need to do something about that. I've been practicing my workflow in FL studio so recently stuff has been more quantity over quality. Thanks again for the input, greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the feedback! I made the track in about three hours and then took a couple more off and on to do a little mixing. It's a rushed project so I relied a lot on maximus and compression to make up for my sloppiness along with excessive reverb and delay. Basically, instead of taking the extra time to ensure that the track was clean I just dumped a bunch of reverb on it and then relied on compression to bring it all out. Results in a muddy sounding mix in the end I think. If I get some more time to clean up the track I'll keep your points in mind. Thanks for taking the time to give me your honest thoughts!! Edit - I put in some more time in with your advice in mind and re-uploaded the track

Piano song - Feedback wanted!
100_PERCENT ROEMER replied to catsandrabbits's topic in Post Your Original Music!
From a composition standpoint, you use a violin and a piano at the beginning but use the piano for sustain and the violin for the faster notes. Perhaps it might sound better if you flipped the two instruments for the first 20 seconds or so. The piano is a little off beat throughout the song. If you recorded live that's understandable, you can fix that in post pretty easily. A lot of the song sounds like you're pecking at notes, I would mix various chords into the end of each phrase to complete your musical thoughts at the ends of the measures. Don't forget that the piano has 88 notes and half of those are in the lower spectrum. Don't be afraid to hit some bass notes to help the beat! It's a cool song, I like the chill style. This is my style of piano if you want to listen: https://soundcloud.com/100_percent_roemer/dr-lorn -
Hello! - Three Original Game Tracks

Wow, these are great! Love the atmosphere and the feel of these tracks. -
Right now I'm rocking a super budget pair of Samson SR850s, although lots of people swear that they are the best bang for the buck for mixing on a budget. I have a great set of M-audio studio monitors but I can't use them currently... Oh well. Anyway, here's a playlist of all of the tracks I've finished up for the game - they don't have to be great, they just have to be good enough to get the point across... At least that's what I keep telling myself
