The People's Remix Competition 103 PRCv4-25 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! And... what the Hell? We're almost at the end of season 4? I don't even know what to do for PRC104 when it comes to the sweepstakes!! Anyway, the previous PRC saw some obscure Sierra material via Firehawk, and admist the turnout TheoConfidor pulled through with his first win, lending his hands to a little bit of a rock interpretation. So for PRC103, he came through with his first choice of source. I know that the titular character in this title had already made an appearance in PRC101, but with Sonic appearing in two PRCs in a row earlier on this season, anything can go! Mario Kart Super Circuit - Sky Garden GSF (library) | MIDI | MP3 So yes, here we go from paper-thin character designs in a cute yet fun adventure/RPG to a solid GBA succession to one of few noteworthy non-adventure Mario spin-offs. I hope you'd find much from this one GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. Limitations require your entry to be 6MB or less in size. Length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed. Entries must be posted in this thread by NEXT SATURDAY, September 22nd at 4:59 am Eastern US Time. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted. The winner of the previous contest may not enter an eligible mix, but his/her vote will count double. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they recieve a free first place vote added onto their score. Doulifée's PRC Archives! If you need help with hosting your mix, contact myself or Doulifée, and we'll help you out.

PRC102: Certainly Not a Phoenix from the Flame (Firehawk)
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
A lot of PRCs these days have been pretty quiet, so three is like a good feeling when it comes to getting the mixers to vote as well. But either way, the time for voting is up! Let's see what we can make of the final tabulation, heh. Total number of mixes - 3 Total number of votes - 8 Highest possible score - 24 Alex Smith struggled his way into third place with 9 points. Hylian Lemon took his afro wig to second place with 17 points. And the winner by an unanimous decision is TheoConfidor with 24 points! Well done on your first win, Theo. It took a few breaks into the competition but I'm glad you managed to pull through with a first win. So here's what you need to do now - you need to send me a PM with your source tune choice for PRC103. It can be any song as long as it isn't covered on OCR yet (songs on site projects don't count so stuff like Vegetable Valley in Kirby's Adventure is still fair game). Thanks very much for your time everyone, and I hope to see you all again for the next PRC this weekend. -

The mixing stage is over. And now it's time to vote. Here's what you need to do. - Sign up at ThaSauce if you haven't done so already. - Visit the link in the PRC rules and arrange the three entries from first to third. - State a reasoning to back it up. - Click 'submit vote' and follow this tip: never clean up after yourself the minute you wake up as it would make you grumpy and clumsy at the same time. You have until Tuesday, September 11th at 4:59AM EST to cast your vote. The winner will choose the source tune for PRC103! Alex Smith - The Mission with Deadly Consequences Hylian Lemon - Deadly Disco in the Dark TheoConfidor - Thexter's Crusade -

PRC101's Paper Mario based round seemed to be sparser than Forever Forest itself, though that didn't stop Chickenwarlord from creeping in (pun intended) and taking his first PRC win. So how do you think he could make a mark with his choice for PRC102? Here he's gone for a Sierra classic title, though sadly it's not in the same vein as Quest for Glory or Leisure Suit Larry. I hope you still find interest with it though. Fire Hawk - Thexter: The Second Contact - Mission 3 MIDI | MP3 I really gotta apologise for the late start, fokes. Turns out that my afternoon schedule left little time to get the PRC started, though I swear that this would never happen again. GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. ThaSauce's server allows for MP3 files at 6MB. PRC101: It's-a-me, a living A4 cutout! (Paper Mario) [RESULTS]
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
Voting time is over. Now, who got out of the woods first? >.> Total number of mixes - 2 Total number of votes - 5 (wut?) Highest possible score - 10 The winner by an unanimous vote is Chickenwarlord with 10 points! Not much competition this time around, but I'm glad we saw it shape up in one piece. Well done on your first win. Now you'll need to pick a source tune for PRC102 - I plan to get it started by tomorrow lunchtime, so between now and then I want you to make your choice. It can be any song that hasn't been covered on OCR - can be an uncovered song from a known game, or it could be really obscure, but it's your choice at the end of the day. (Site projects don't count, so stuff like Sonic 2 Hill Top Zone for example is still fair game.) Thanks for your time and I hope to see you all back here tomorrow. -
Even though the project has gone on for so long, I'm still in anticipation to hear it all in its released form. Not only that, but I'm now destined to actually invest on Tales of Symphonia once I get my hands on a Wii and a set of Gamecube peripherals

Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
Seems like we're heading into another one of those weak PRC turnouts. Anyway... The mixing stage is over. And the voting stage has begun. All you do is the following: - Sign up at ThaSauce if you haven't done so already. - Make your choice between the two contestants. - A reasoning would help your clarification. - Submit the vote and try and plead for any British Bank Holidays in America, or something. You have until Thursday, August 30th to make your vote. The winner gets to choose the source material for PRC102! Legibles Chickenwarlord - Temporary Forest Radiowar - untitled mix (a remix of the song entitled forever forest) Illegibles Hylian Lemon - Gutsy Ghost -

I see what you mean, but regardless though, the competition is still going to see a time extension. I will give you all one more day to try and come up with something with the source, otherwise Chickenwarlord will win by default. -

This is just odd. PRC has been quiet for the past 5 days or so, and I see that the forum structure has changed a bit again. Is anyone actually working on something? -

I managed to upload it in your place (and changed the name field afterwards). I got the same message as well, though it was nothing that a re-encoding of the MP3 wouldn't fix. What do you use to encode your files btw? Maybe that might be the problem. -
The People's Remix Competition 101 PRCv4-23 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! We're plowing into the triple figures pretty well, I think. With PRC100 done and dusted, all that's left is for the formerly anonymous contestants to host their mixes and that is that. Recapping to PRC99, Hylian Lemon scored his second win with what seemed like a cuter entry than the competition but got a lot of brownie points from his peers nonetheless. So it's only fair that that approach matches with Ben's choice for PRC101's source tune. How can you imagine the team behind Advance Wars to make something as colorful as this...? Paper Mario - Forever Forest Theme MIDI | MP3 | USF (library) Let me add a brief word of advice for anyone reading this thing - never, and I repeat, NEVER play it on an emulator. Sure there's the usual "buy it yourself" comment, but a lot of graphical effects are missing as well, making it a little buggy and whatnot. Ey... ramble over. GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. ThaSauce's server allows for MP3 files at 6MB. PRC100: It's a Swingin' Web-spinnin' Celebration! (Spider-Man / X-Men) [RESULTS]
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
Time's up. It's time to total the points and see which one swung into first place. Plus, we're also going to reveal who did the individual songs. Total number of mixes - 4 Total number of votes - 6 (wut?) Highest possible score - 18 Jaybell sent Flashing Blue Bits into last place with 7 points. Anorak and his work with Bad Bb Bricolage were assigned for third place with 10 points. GSlicer wrote August and reached second place with 15 points. And the winner of PRC100, with 16 points, is Uncanny Orchestra by Nutritious! Wow, I never thought that an anonymous contest would end up in this much of a pickle Justin, you managed to work well. I'm assuming by Larry's reactions to your work for PRC99 that you could have potential to polish up your track for Dirge, so you know what to do. The rest of the path is all up to you on how to impress the pubefro master. PRC101 will be launched in 7 hours. For now, I will open the ThaSauce link for the contestants to upload their entries to the server. Sorry for any hassle relating to TS's system, and I hope to see you all again this afternoon. -

Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
No worries, Aaron. I just never realised the server would act that way to be honest. Either way, sure, I'll discuss with you beforehand prior to getting something launched. I don't even have a clue how the ThaSauce servers might even react, so this is what's going to happen. This PRC's voting will end as normal early Saturday morning, and once that happens I will give the contestants the opportunity to host their tracks on the ThaSauce servers. Due to concern relating to any potential alteration of the standard PRC signature when it comes to timings and whatnot, PRC101 will also begin tomorrow as well. I might as well mention it here before I get any mass mail saying "when's PRC101 coming" and stuff like that. -

Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
The problem is, I discovered the fact that multiple entries are impossible at ThaSauce. I did consider trying to make multiple accounts, however in spite of operating with duplicates the system still says that the Anonymous PRC account "has already entered". Odds are the server would sense IP numbers rather than user names, interestingly enough. -
PRC100: It's a Swingin' Web-spinnin' Celebration! (Spider-Man / X-Men) [RESULTS]
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
Yeah, the way I see it is that once the contest is over, I will open up the PRC100 post at ThaSauce as if the contest was still going on, and then everyone can submit their entries (or if three people contribute I could submit the other and edit the name field when doing so). The scores will be inputted with no problem, though the votes would be given a transfer to Douli's server given that I feel that I would face the same situation when trying to host the mixes at TS all over again. -

Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
I don't even know if I can find any willing volunteers to be honest. It was hard enough just trying to push through the servers every way possible to try and go beyond one entry online, but in the end, it'll be less hassle to just stick with the OCR PM method. -

Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
Ah, Doulifee; I know you might have been a little angered by the positions of the web files, but the big issue for me was whether your FTP server would be fast enough to get the entries up ready for voting. Sorry if I disturbed you with the move; if I see you on MSN tonight we'll discuss it. The tags have been fixed, however ThaSauce STILL won't let me host more than one entry, even if I use different accounts (must be an IP restriction system, I see; nice work analoq ). I suppose PMs will have to be used for the source of this competition. I'm also willing to add an extra day to the voting to make up for this early hassle. -

Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
Strange, most people said that they didn't tag the Artist field. I'll look into it; it's hard enough trying to host these tracks on ThaSauce anyway, at least at this rate. [EDIT: okay, even if I DO mess around with the artist field, it looks as if ALL operations have to take place outside ThaSauce for this one competition. Not even renaming artist fields at ThaSauce would let me host more than one entry as "Anonymous PRC Contestant". This is getting a little awkward if you know what I mean. o_O] -
PRC100: It's a Swingin' Web-spinnin' Celebration! (Spider-Man / X-Men) [RESULTS]
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
Right, the entries are online. However, due to issues with ThaSauce's flood control at the moment, the first few hours of the voting stage will run a little differently. What you should do is listen to the entries and then if you don't wish to wait for the voting to be ready at ThaSauce, you can send me a PM with your vote (the ballot will be added once the vote servers come online). You just pick out three tracks and rank them from first to third. The contestants don't need to put their own entry in as they automatically get a first place vote. You have until Saturday, August 18th at 4:59am EST to submit your vote. If Larry digs the winner's work, they might get acceptance onto Dirge for the Follin. Okay, we've got a good number of entries. I'll be sure to get everything ready in the next couple of hours or so. [EDIT: Well dang. There's some issues relating to flood protection, so unless I find another web host in the next 30 minutes the voting stage might be delayed.] -

With a few hours to go, we only have one entry. Even if more people chip in and we have enough for a voting stage in time for the actual deadline, I'm not going to be there to set it up anyway due to being out of town for most of tomorrow. An extra 24 hours has been added to the alotted time, so make sure you use it well. -

How would I guess you'd say something like that? That's one of the reasons why I opted for an Anonymous contest this time around, heh. Just out of question, whatif the winning track is one that you would refuse to put on the project? What do you think should I give the winner other than "bragging rights", per se? Thanks for the birthday wishes for yesterday all -
The People's Remix Competition 100 PRCv4-22 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! It's anniversary time once again. Before I start though, who would have thought I'd start a PRC on my birthday? And odder than that, who would have thought I'd kick off PRC100 when I turn 21? But enough about the festiveness for now. For this special PRC event we have a few tricks up our sleeves. I don't have the fundings for any PRC memorabilia at the moment, but we do however have prize potential outside of that. And when there's prizes, there's a twist and a cracking source tune. We will get to the twist when we get to the rules; for now, our source tune provider for PRC100 is from one of OverClocked Remix's senior judges and the bearer of the most colorful pubefro around - Larry "Liontamer" Oji. Are you ready for your source, ladies and gents? Because THIS is what you will be working with. Spider-Man and the X-Men: Arcade's Revenge - Spider-Man's Stage MIDI | MP3 | SPC Now what is all this in aid of? Well, I still need confirmation from Larry on whether he's willing to or not, but odds are if you do really well with your track, he might even put you on Dirge of the Follin. It might be seen as a definite prize for the winner, but I still need more thought on that. What I DO have thought on however, is that for one PRC only, this will be an ANONYMOUS CONTEST! That means that the music needs to do all the talking if you need to get up there, and there's two weeks to do it in, so what are you waiting for? And now, I leave you to it. Start using your Spider-senses, people. GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. There is no limit on entry format or song length, but length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed. Entries must be emailed to submission@doulifee.com by TUESDAY, AUGUST 14th at 4:59am Eastern US Time. I will upload all entries that are submitted at the Compo ThaSauce link under the artist name "Anonymous PRC Contestant", and will reveal the artists once the contest is over. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score. Doulifée's PRC Archives! Time's up! Now, who got out of Mephisto's grasp alive? It's time we braced ourselves for the final conclusion. Total number of votes - 12 Total number of mixes - 4 Highest possible score: 36 Chickenwarlord received another last place wooden spoon with 3 points. Andy Jayne rocked his way to third place with 22 points. Nutritious rode onto second place with 26 points. And the winner of PRC99 is Hylian Lemon with 30 points! Well done on your second PRC win, Ben. You've managed to pull through some intense competition to get this far. Now all you got to do now is figure out a source tune for PRC101. Hurry up, you only have 17 days PRC100 will begin in an hour at the least. I hope you're all ready for what's there, fokes. Be there or be square! -

Suggestions would have been cool, though somehow I'm more leaning in the direction of a prize relating to PRC100's source material, assuming that the source provider would give the green light on it. We'll find out when we start it off at 7AM EST tomorrow. For now, let's go go go - 10 hours remain until THIS PRC's voting stage comes to a close.
