PRC98: Time is a Hylian's Virtue (Zelda: Oracle of Ages)
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
I don't mind advertisements. If anyone wanted to do that, feel free. Either way, the mixing stage has come to a close, and now it's time to do the voting. Here's what you need to do - Sign up there if you haven't done so already. Select which of the two mixes you prefer (obviously the contenders themselves can take a break from voting this week). Write a reasoning to elaborate on your decision. Click "submit vote" and have a happy French Independance Day... providing you didn't miss out last Saturday? You have until Thursday, July 19th at 4:59AM EST to vote. The winner gets to choose the source material for PRC99! Legibles - Chickenwarlord - Clumsy Thieves Tensei-San - Oracle of Shuffle Inellegibles - Hylian Lemon - Remember the Ember -

It's still not quite enough for a vote. Odds are we might roll this on for just one more day to get another entry or two in. -

You can either email the track to the submissions email on the first post, or you can upload it like a regular entry and I'll take care of the rest. -

Well I haven't seen anyone use the WIP forum in the past. Generally, people work on the mixes for PRC and plop them in the thread when they're done, and once the contest is over they could improve on it for the future if they want. By that, I wouldn't advise using the WIP forums for seeking for feedback on your work, though there's nothing wrong with sending private messages to people who could help you out or contacting them over AIM or MSN or whatever. -

Yes you can Sometimes I do that to help encourage some source tunes I picked in the past (and by sometimes, I mean only twice, lol). -

PRC97's Pokemon-related contest had an amusing turnout as a result, and from all this we faced a first win from Hylian Lemon who came forth with something rhapsodic in order to take the prize. We are still with the Gameboy in this PRC, and we're going from one popular game franchise to another as well. I bet 50 rupees that we'll get four or more entries on this one; what do you think? Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages - Crescent Moon Island GBS (track 4) | MIDI | MP3 I think we faced enough weirdness when it comes to Zelda coverage through The Music of My Groin, so I'm hoping this compo will go by pretty "normally"... or so I think. Come on, it's Zelda; what do we expect? GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. There is no limit on entry format or file size, but length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed. Entries must be posted at the Compo ThaSauce link by NEXT SATURDAY, July 14th at 4:59am Eastern US Time. Alternatively, you can also email your submissions over to submission@doulifee.com, though it would also help if you put forward a reminder in the thread. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted. The winner of the previous contest may not enter an eligible mix, but his/her vote will count double. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score. Doulifée's PRC Archives! If you need help with hosting your mix, contact myself or Doulifée, and we'll help you out.

Voting time is over! I see there's been some quiet yet quantitive voting. Let's see what we can make of the final result. Total number of mixes: 3 Total number of voters: 10 Highest possible score: 30 Deductive Dave swung his way into third place with 14 points. Nutritious just about edged his way into second place with 19 points. And the winner by an unanimous decision is Hylian Lemon with 30 points! Congratulations, Lemon (do I call you that?). You've scored your first PRC victory, and now it's fair that I instruct you on what happens next. What you need to do now is to choose a source material for PRC98 - it can be any song, as long as it hasn't been covered on OCRemix yet (though you CAN do tracks that aren't covered in the official roster of remixes but ARE covered in site projects). Once you've made a decision, send me a PM and I'll start making preparations for the next contest. Thanks very much for your time, everyone. I'll see you again this coming Friday.

The mixing stage is over! And now, it's time to go to the voting stage. All voting will take place at ThaSauce through here. This is what you need to do - Sign up there if you haven't done so already. Select three mixes and rank them from first to third. Write a reasoning to elaborate on your decision. Click "submit vote" and prepare a potential banner for "July is Also Power-Up Month" once again (hey, it can happen, right?) You have until Tuesday, July 3rd at 4:59AM EST to vote. The winner gets to choose the source material for PRC98! Deductive Dave - Tribal Silphs Hylian Lemon - Heroin Addict's Haunted Attic Nutritious - Trancemander

Assuming we get a healthy number of entries by early next Saturday, the voting stage should start immediately after the mixing stage's deadline. I hope that answers your question

Deductive Dave - Tribal Silphs Hylian Lemon - Heroin Addict's Haunted Attic Nutritious - Trancemander The People's Remix Competition 97 PRCv4-19 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! PRC96's BioMetal related compo ended up being the center of one of the compo's strangest competitions yet, and in the midst of all this strangeness, FiremanJoe took his first win with his own Pop Idol brand parody on the source tune. If that wasn't going to be strange enough, this PRC will take us to a game that practically ALL of us must have experienced at some point or other. Love it or hate it, we can't deny that it's a bestseller on the Gameboy, and with a remix project on the way for it as well, we can only wonder what this compo will bring. Still, when it comes to entries, I'm gonna catch 'em all! Pokemon - Silph Co. Red/Blue/Yellow: GBS (track 41) | MIDI | MP3 Fire Red/Leaf Green: GSF (library) | MP3 With that left aside, it's time we got to mixing. Last one to Indigo Plateau's a one-legged Charmander! Chickenwarlord said this and I'll mimic him in return - don't count yourself out. Yes, the purpose of PRC is to recognise songs that haven't been remixed on OCR yet, but that's the thing really. That kind of scope could go around to just about any kind of song, whether it would be a song in a popular game that hasn't received remix coverage yet (e.g. Sonic 1's boss theme) or a song that was in a game that didn't get much attention by the Western gaming public, like the previous five or so (no offence to anyone who loved Rise of the Triad, but before PRC95 I never heard of that game o.O). In other news, the PRC archives at Doulifee's site has been updated. Now I need to get to work on those banners if I can; as I said I haven't done one since 87 >.>

Don't worry, V's score was edited appropriately. He still gets the first place tie on his entry just for voting, like every competitor that takes part.
-
Either way, the results are in. Let's see what can be made out of it, ok? Total number of voters - 8 Total number of mixes - 3 Highest possible score - 24 Chickenwarlord and V_gasm share the runner-up spot with 16 points each. And the winner of PRC96 is Fireman Joe with 19 points! Well done on securing your first PRC win, though given what I said earlier it sounds more like an understatement, lol. o_O Regardless, now that we're done here, I would like you to send over your source tune choice for PRC97 in my direction, whether it be through PMs or through MSN tonight. Thanks for your input everyone, and we will meet again for PRC97 tomorrow afternoon. Be sharp, I guess.
-
Sadly I have to agree with Cocaine White (don't worry about your vote, I inputted yours with mine). But I don't put it down to genre preferences as I'm pretty much acceptable to a wide range of style, just that the production level of some of these entries feel as if they were more made for an OverLooked ReMiX competition than one on OCR. (no offence to any of the competitors or anyone associated with that site, I just needed to bring it up.) I'll probably explain a little more on this reasoning tomorrow, when the votes have been tallied up.

All songs from PRCs 87 through to 92 are on Douli's webspace, thus they have all been linked in the individual threads for them in this forum. I still need to hoast V's work for PRC93 though. 94-96 are all at ThaSauce. Man, I need to get a move on on hotlinking everything on Douli's web servers. I haven't done any banners beyond 87 though. [EDIT: V, do me a favor and re-host your PRC93 entry so that I can get at it and put it up on Douli's serever. Thank you.]

Strange, I went on there when there were 80 minutes to spare and I saw the mixing stage was still going. o_O I'll see if I can puzzle over that. For now... The mixing stage is over! Firstly I weren't expecting you two to pull in right at the last minute. Secondly, even with two entries, I still think it makes things slightly uneasy on the ThaSauce voting system, however we will go with you two if you two remain to have the sole entries by the deadline. Somehow I'm also intrugued over OCR's terminology of "the typical School year". I've done my last few assignments by the end of May, so I'm under the assumption that most schools in America break out in mid-to-late June?
-
And so another day passes. However, we STILL don't have any entries, so another 24 hours has been added. Normally in a PRC situation, this is the last rollback I end up doing, as by Monday there's barely enough time to do the voting. If we still don't have any entries by tomorrow, then this is something that I would need to bring up with analoq if he's around.
-
Yes, ThaSauce can allow for time extensions. I can't see any chance of getting enough voteable entries in the hour left, so I've managed to add another 24 hours to the mixing time.

PRC95 had analoq choosing a source tune from Rise of the Triad, and that resulted with a healthy turnout and a first win in the competition for Nutritious. And so it's only fair that he gets to make his first pick for a PRC source tune. For the third week in a row he's picked something that drew a blank on me, but I know that he's got good intensions for this one. We're sticking with shoot-em-ups, though to be honest, there's not a lot in the genre for the SNES...! BioMetal - Bio-O SPC Somehow I'm curious over how 2-Unlimited's music style would transfer to an eight-channel chip like the SNES, but that question's best saved for another day now that we're looking at the Japanese version. Anyway... GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. PRC95: I don't think we're in Wolfenstein anymore (Rise of the Triad)
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
Joe, please wait for the host. Honestly, internet conditions were rough this morning and have persisted up until now. But anyway... we might as well make the clarification. Total number of mixes - 4 Total number of votes - 9 Highest Possible Score - 27 FiremanJoe obtains his own last place wooden spoon with 8 points. Deductive Dave starts his time for the PRC with a third place finish and 15 points to his name. Alex Smith scraped his way into second place with 20 points. And the winner of PRC95 is Nutritious with 23 points! Congratulations on your first PRC win! You know the drill now - you should contact me sometime soon with your choice of source for PRC96. I know you'll come up with something fun. And so, there concludes another PRC. There's a quick reminder though - this Friday's PRC would begin a few hours early for classified reasons (nothing to bring illwill or anything, I assure you). Regardless, I hope to see you there for PRC96. -

FAC - Fan Art Competition 11: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney [VOTING RESULTS]
Rexy replied to atmuh's topic in Competitions
Well, as the current PRC host, I can safely say that the personnel that have been associated with that contest have been more or less stating the same thing for the past several months. We did find a way out of the pickle thanks to analoq and a subserver at ThaSauce, though how it could work for a competition that's not necessarily relating to remixing is beyond me. Nevertheless, do you think there could be a way for Atma to find an outside source to help promote the competition? With the way I see it, odds are the threads in the competitions forum would never show up on the OCR front page sometime soon alongside with the other main thread links. At least, that's how I feel about it. -
FAC - Fan Art Competition 11: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney [VOTING RESULTS]
Rexy replied to atmuh's topic in Competitions
Well I did play through Justice For All recently; never thought that this set of the Fanart competition might struggle in spite of the fanbase this game has out here. Regardless, I'll make my vote. Once I'm back home I'll start participating in these things more often. If I need to show a sample of what I can do, here's something cooked up from several months back. I think from that alone, I can come to a conclusion that attorneys are tough cookies to draw. -

Ah, thanks. I can't believe I overlooked the minor detail in the link. Note to self: never take a nap before you start a PRC thread. You never know how messed up things can get. o_O
