Seconded. Jak II didn't go down the "bigger and had more stuff" route, but instead re-invented the series to the state it is today. I would also mention Crash 2/3 but I don't want to sound like a PlayStation fangirl. Nevertheless, they improved so much on the forumulae by use of the free-roaming warp room route, re-establishing the way it could even be played by move/crate additions, and in the case of the third title adding time trials - I think that was one of the first adventure games that even utilised that concept. (Great, now I'm going to sound like I'm serenading Naughty Dog. Oh well...)

PRC85: Fantasy Can't Get Much Cuter (Little Samson) [Results]
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
I can say it's creative enough to go classical, but that could be me. All I can say is that AS has sent me his source and it's among one of the more interesting I have seen in terms of PRC submissions. LAOS, I say you get Mavis Beacon right now if you need to stand a chance. -

Okay, it's results time Again, I wish I had mod priviledges so that I could edit the topic and tell people when it's done. Still, here we are. Total number of remixes - 4 Total number of votes - 8 Highest possible score - 32 Manic Cinq gets another last place wooden spoon with 13 points. Xela follows on at third place with 18 points. Dragonlord managed to settle for second place with 24 points. And the winners of PRC85 are Another Soundscape & Kholdstare with 28 points! It's not very often that I see a debut from coming talent succeeding in a PRC like this one, but I salute you two for managing to get this far. Another Soundscape, considering the whole thing was your idea, I would like you to have your source tune ready for this Friday. It can be just about any song you want, as long as it hasn't been covered on OCR before. And I will like to bring back the news of the return of the Original Remix Competition! The Orichalcon has made a decision to commence with the contest once again, and it will begin with ORC49 this coming Friday. So there we have it - the two sister competitions will once again run side by side. Be there, or be square. -

Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing? Eh, sounds good that you're still loyal to this. We need more of your creative ideas out here... and a little pinch more of Mr. Trenton! -

Yep, there's 9 hours left if you want to vote. I say go for it if you haven't done so already. Two more things - though I am a competition leader, I still require mod rights to edit these damn titles to let us know when we're finished and whatnot. That's the only thing I hate about this new forum system. And on top of that, happy birthday to Another Soundscape -

I see it as a good thing, Señor Molina. This is interlinked within the General Discussion area, so when you view the forums the latest post could be from anywhere, whether it be from community, announcements, here or the Help and Newbies forums. Subforums will work well for a solid reason of separating the general discussion topics and still making them as potent as ever. On top of that, another great thing is that these competitions will be archived now that we have this place. So if anyone is reading this in the middle of July (or in TO's case, the middle of January), you've just seen how it all works. -

Lo and behold, the competitions forum is online It looks like PRC has found a new home for a good amount of time... and I need to get cracking on polishing something for the ORC revival. It may be time for voting around here, but in the case of this re-invention, a winner is djp. Thank you -

The mixing stage is over. The voting stage has begun! To cast your vote, you send me a PM and in that PM you rank the mixes from first to fourth. Contestants don't need to place their own work as they automatically get a first place vote. The winner of PRC84 (Sir Nuts) has a vote that counts twice. You have until Wednesday, January 17th at 5AM EST to send your vote to me. The winner gets to choose the source tune for PRC86! I'm sorry Chavous, but we can't accept it. If you wanted to use Soundclick, at least make it so that we don't have to wait til the following day to download it. And with the way this is going, we don't have the time for it. Either way, I'm doing the remaining uploads and should start this up momentarily. -
I got your demo Considering I'm here briefly to get PRC started up, I'll be sure to see it. You'd better be around on MSN this evening, Coconut Man™.

The way I see it, three could very well be a minimum requirement. On top of that, I don't know about a few days - the PRC needs to keep running promptly. If we start on Sunday (tomorrow), the results will come through by Wednesday, giving the winner 2 days to pick a PRC source tune. So by delaying it even more, they won't have much time to choose. -

LAOS, I would rather blame my University time schedule. I've been working on the final documentation of my music technology coursework almost all this week and I've barely had time to stop and chat, let alone update signatures. Sorry about that. I can see we have two entries hosted and a third in the making, but for me it's not quite enough for a voting poll. Alex, we'll wait on you before we can get this underway. Or maybe we can wait til tomorrow for other new challengers. -

Nuts got it right. You can sub the song to the judges if you want to, yet in the end you know for sure that they won't see your track for another few weeks. I say you host it on whatever server space you have, or if you have problems, pass it over to either me or Douli. -
I noticed that at GenDisc too. I think there's an option to alphabetise the latests posts there. This forum can't get any more intriguing than it is now.
-
I appreciate the file, though for future purposes, it's best not to share finished works with the rest of the OCR forum personnel. Don't worry, I've got the file now and I'll take a look at it later on this evening.

Blame it on the new forum system. We found an error - while we project managers were fine to edit the topic title as we pleased, this new system won't allow us to edit this at all. What a downer.
-
Don't worry, Joker. Your song's safe with me. Also, further bad news has struck - AkumajoBelmont has chickened out. So that means that DW3 Adventure is back up for grabs if anyone wants to have a stab at it. And to think that Robbie's ideas would kick so much ass too
-
Right, I've sent a mass email out to everyone concerning the project. And from here on in, it's going to get crucial. I stated that I'd start slaving people about from here til February, and this is what's going to happen. I want to see finished produce coming in by February 11th. And if you don't come through with much material without good reason, you will be kicked off until you come up with something. What's going to worry me more is if we face enough problems in the next month to have to resort to finding a second manager. I'm finding it hard enough to find new musicians as it is, let alone a person who would help bring this baby to life. But either way, check your emails and get cracking

ZIP archive Another Soundscape - Lair of Kikira Dragonlord - Tiny Yellow Fish Manic Cinq - The Happy Punching Bag Xela - I Can Fly The People's Remix Competition 85 PRCv4-7 Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition! PRC84 saw the second Sonic-related PRC in a row, and among the range of entries it managed to attract, Sir Nuts took the win with something that goes straight back towards his trance roots. Nice work. PRC85 pays host to a game that he transcribed a lot of MIDIs for at VGMusic (look deep in the New-Files) and thus won't stop talking about it. But I think it's about time that can do with some PRC coverage. Come on peeps, it's Taito Little Samson - Kikira's Theme MIDI | MP3 | NSF (track 3) Now that he picked this, there's one step done on his way to infect this game in our minds. We hope from this we get quite the PRC audience to boot. Anyway... GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. There is no limit on entry format or file size, but length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed. Entries must be posted in this thread by NEXT SATURDAY, January 13th at 4:59am Eastern US Time. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted. The winner of the previous contest may not enter an eligible mix, but his/her vote will count double. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score. Doulifée's PRC Archives! If you need help with hosting your mix, contact myself or Doulifée, and we'll help you out.

Odds are they'd go for Mana Beast's theme ("Meridian Dance") because it "seems more melodic". But either way, the Dark Lich is hard to cover, because it depends more on percussion than actual use of timbres. It's interesting how they pulled it off on the SNES O.O Either way, Forfallen (an aggressive metal side-project envisioned by Jason Vincion) produced .mp3"]"In the Wake of Thanatos" for the November 2005 Mana Dwelling of Duels event. And I praise him so much for approaching it the way that he did

I know. But it turns out that only mods can edit thread titles here these days. Doesn't do much good on us competition runners

OCRA-0008 - Sonic 3 & Knuckles: Project Chaos
Rexy replied to SnappleMan's topic in Album Reviews & Comments
I'm probably a bit late for this now, but to the guy who thought that we missed certain themes out, I would have thought that there were so much musics in the game itself that covering them would merely cause more time than they were worth. When it started out, all the tracks were to be planned on covering the two discs as they were, but it seemed more logical to make a bonus one out of the race and special stage themes. That's possibly the reason why some of the other jingles/bonus musics weren't included. Also, I don't think we would have wanted another Sonniku Ganbatte. While the idea was cute, there's no way in HELL we would come to appreciate that as an approachable song. I bet Rama won't even let it on Remix: ThaSauce if you ask me. So by this rate, I don't think we could even risk it again. You even got your fix by Snaps doing the title screen music which sounded a ilttle similar to it, so I hope it would serve as some kind of compensation or whatever. -
You're damn right. And man, I didn't see much of a high vote turnout; I'd possibly blame vBulletin's arrival (which was actually good) if you ask me, but you never know. Total number of mixes - 5 Total number of votes - 7 (ouch) Highest possible score - 35 avaris takes the last place wooden spoon with 15 points. aluminum and xela are tied for third place 18 points. GSlicer was scraped to second place with 27 points. And the winner of PRC84 is Sir Nuts with 28 points! Another pick for Mr Molina, who once again takes the gold with his trademark trance. Nuts, you have until Friday noon EST to send your next source over. I'm all ears. I hope to catch you all again for PRC85, providing more things relating to the site's framework don't take place. I'll see you there, same OCR time, same OCR channel.

How did this get down to page 2? Let me bump this up for its last 12 hours of voting. And then, we will gather the results all together.

Not me, I used Cubase Probably would be a while before I ever come across Reason again.
