PRC86: Holy Legendary Sword, Batman! (Secret of Mana) [Results]
Rexy replied to Rexy's topic in Competitions
Wow, you guys are really quiet voters. There's 10 hours and 30 minutes remaining if you need to cast your vote and/or fix anything. What can I say? Hop to it. Also, someone make me a mod so I can actually edit these stupid topic titles. I don't even know who did the routine for me in PRC85, but to be frank, this time without the power to edit the actual topic title is starting to get a little bit annoying. -
Let me quickly bring this up in fear of it dropping from the GenDisc page again. I can never be too careful. >.<

The mixing stage is over. The voting stage has begun! What you do is send me a PM containing your ranking of the mixes from first to sixth. Contestants don't need to place their own works as they automatically get a first place vote. The winner of PRC85 (Another Soundscape) has votes counted twice. You have until Tuesday, January 30th at 4:59AM EST to make your vote. The winner will get to choose the source tune for PRC87! I suppose we'll wait for you. But we know we faced problems in the past PRCs waiting for you to submit your entry. I don't want to sound like Judge Rexy here, but something needs to be done about that. -

I've done my song too. Just need to title it and put it on the webspace. Before anyone asks when they hear it, the guitar parts didn't work so I layered down a harpsichord instead. Providing I'll find time tonight, that's what I'll be doing so that I don't face strain tomorrow other than getting the RAR together. With that said, get cracking - there's only 13 hours left! **Ba-dump. Ba-dump.** -
I don't think there's many games in my collection that I thought are much better than what the critics said, but I do like to give Animaniacs on the original Gameboy a shout here. People said that it was an atrocious licence, but for me, it's no longer than Kirby's Dream Land, actually had some decent (remixable?) in-level music and it was the kind of game to keep me occupied while waiting for food every night thanks to its fair share of content and everything. Yep, like many of you, I sound like a douche.

What can we say? Money makes the world go round We have just over 24 hours left to get entries in. If you have anything, get cracking on it! It's interesting that we have four and a bonus by this stage, so I congratulate the peeps that came through so far. I've got an entry coming; I just need to layer my acoustic guitar into the mix. -

Right, I'll edit them out. Sorry about the mistakes. If anything I would blame a cold I caught lately, but not to worry. -

PRC85 had one of the cutest source tunes I have seen in a while via a song from Little Samson, and in the end came out a horrific - in a good way - industrial mix from newcomer Another Soundscape, complete with vocals from Kholdstare, take the first place prize. For this week's PRC, he's picked a fun source for us to mess around with. I see it to be really different to experiment with than most things, but luckily for us, it's a song from a popular game within the RPG community. Are you ready to seal some Mana Seeds? Secret of Mana - Dancing Animals MIDI | MP3 | SPC I hope this will encourage Liontamer to play the game for longer than 20 minutes (quoted from VG Frequency 84). But enough thoughts about things that might not happen - I say we get cracking on and seeing what kind of results would come out of this. GOOD LUCK! Fine Print: PRC instructions If you happen to be mixing this song already, start over in the interests of fairness. There is no limit on entry format or file size, but length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed. Entries must be posted in this thread by NEXT SATURDAY, January 27th at 4:59am Eastern US Time. Alternatively, you can also email your submissions over to submission@doulifee.com, though it would also help if you put forward a reminder in the thread. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted. The winner of the previous contest may not enter an eligible mix, but his/her vote will count double. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they receive a free first place vote added onto their score. Doulifée's PRC Archives! If you need help with hosting your mix, contact myself or Doulifée, and we'll help you out.

Seconded. Jak II didn't go down the "bigger and had more stuff" route, but instead re-invented the series to the state it is today. I would also mention Crash 2/3 but I don't want to sound like a PlayStation fangirl. Nevertheless, they improved so much on the forumulae by use of the free-roaming warp room route, re-establishing the way it could even be played by move/crate additions, and in the case of the third title adding time trials - I think that was one of the first adventure games that even utilised that concept. (Great, now I'm going to sound like I'm serenading Naughty Dog. Oh well...)

I can say it's creative enough to go classical, but that could be me. All I can say is that AS has sent me his source and it's among one of the more interesting I have seen in terms of PRC submissions. LAOS, I say you get Mavis Beacon right now if you need to stand a chance. -

Okay, it's results time Again, I wish I had mod priviledges so that I could edit the topic and tell people when it's done. Still, here we are. Total number of remixes - 4 Total number of votes - 8 Highest possible score - 32 Manic Cinq gets another last place wooden spoon with 13 points. Xela follows on at third place with 18 points. Dragonlord managed to settle for second place with 24 points. And the winners of PRC85 are Another Soundscape & Kholdstare with 28 points! It's not very often that I see a debut from coming talent succeeding in a PRC like this one, but I salute you two for managing to get this far. Another Soundscape, considering the whole thing was your idea, I would like you to have your source tune ready for this Friday. It can be just about any song you want, as long as it hasn't been covered on OCR before. And I will like to bring back the news of the return of the Original Remix Competition! The Orichalcon has made a decision to commence with the contest once again, and it will begin with ORC49 this coming Friday. So there we have it - the two sister competitions will once again run side by side. Be there, or be square. -

Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing? Eh, sounds good that you're still loyal to this. We need more of your creative ideas out here... and a little pinch more of Mr. Trenton! -

Yep, there's 9 hours left if you want to vote. I say go for it if you haven't done so already. Two more things - though I am a competition leader, I still require mod rights to edit these damn titles to let us know when we're finished and whatnot. That's the only thing I hate about this new forum system. And on top of that, happy birthday to Another Soundscape -

I see it as a good thing, Señor Molina. This is interlinked within the General Discussion area, so when you view the forums the latest post could be from anywhere, whether it be from community, announcements, here or the Help and Newbies forums. Subforums will work well for a solid reason of separating the general discussion topics and still making them as potent as ever. On top of that, another great thing is that these competitions will be archived now that we have this place. So if anyone is reading this in the middle of July (or in TO's case, the middle of January), you've just seen how it all works. -

Lo and behold, the competitions forum is online It looks like PRC has found a new home for a good amount of time... and I need to get cracking on polishing something for the ORC revival. It may be time for voting around here, but in the case of this re-invention, a winner is djp. Thank you -

I'm sorry Chavous, but we can't accept it. If you wanted to use Soundclick, at least make it so that we don't have to wait til the following day to download it. And with the way this is going, we don't have the time for it. Either way, I'm doing the remaining uploads and should start this up momentarily. -
I got your demo Considering I'm here briefly to get PRC started up, I'll be sure to see it. You'd better be around on MSN this evening, Coconut Man™.

The way I see it, three could very well be a minimum requirement. On top of that, I don't know about a few days - the PRC needs to keep running promptly. If we start on Sunday (tomorrow), the results will come through by Wednesday, giving the winner 2 days to pick a PRC source tune. So by delaying it even more, they won't have much time to choose. -

LAOS, I would rather blame my University time schedule. I've been working on the final documentation of my music technology coursework almost all this week and I've barely had time to stop and chat, let alone update signatures. Sorry about that. I can see we have two entries hosted and a third in the making, but for me it's not quite enough for a voting poll. Alex, we'll wait on you before we can get this underway. Or maybe we can wait til tomorrow for other new challengers. -

Nuts got it right. You can sub the song to the judges if you want to, yet in the end you know for sure that they won't see your track for another few weeks. I say you host it on whatever server space you have, or if you have problems, pass it over to either me or Douli. -
I noticed that at GenDisc too. I think there's an option to alphabetise the latests posts there. This forum can't get any more intriguing than it is now.
