  1. I now stand corrected. We have a third, apparantly.
  2. Thank God it's the weekend; I could just set something like a near-to-5AM wakeup call like with VGF79. Once again, we Europeans are treated to the Larry Oji Breakfast Show™! And... damn, I just remembered; April 1st is the start of my Easter vacation. I don't even know if I would be able to call, but I will still attempt to catch the show if it goes on for long enough. Figuring out how to use a mobile in a semi-detached house without waking up any relations will be tough if it does happen Talk about pot calling the kettle black; you were on the edge of crying in two scenarios this past couple of months, being struggling to get the webstream working for VGF75 (I wonder when that would be put up for all to see though), and the end of Toyota Disco's reign on the OLR Top 11. That said, if you can do that, then Arek can cry all he wants
  3. o_O() There was me thinking that was June 3rd. Goes to show that I get my dates muddled up, doesn't it? Happy one year of OLR. I know that the site has a lot of projects getting started up, but also, so is here as of late. We have this one, Doom 2, Super Dodge Ball, Dragon Warrior, Kirby Superstar and Tales of Phantasia/Symphonia residing here alone, and there's many other potential candidates for officiality (is that a word?) in the WIP: OCR forums. Don't panic about strict regulations concerning site projects at OLR, because compared to us, OLR seems to be standing on terra firma while we're heading towards the quicksand direction (!). I wish I could stick by the statement with the Katamari project, but we did see that Jimbo scrapped the idea. (hasn't he heard of WIP deadlines?? oh well...) I'll still work on it a little more as a standard OLR sub. Before I forget, why the pessimism on thinking that we might topple you? You're the Mighty Sexophone, so I know you can push the power of the sax in some shape or form
  4. Well the only thing that instigated this project to begin with were the general public's reaction to Hedgehog Heaven. I don't know if we could instigate a future Sonic project, though if anything Sonic 1 would be perfect material for something like OLR to mess around with And Snapple, watch out for a finished WAV in your inbox pretty soon. Het and I have decided that the render I sent you last night would be the finished version for the project (unless Geoff and/or Xenon do better, of course).
  5. It's not necessarily the samples used in the clip (a reason why I would never work with 808 kits), but it's more like the kind of effect work that's being driven across. I will consider experimenting with what's been said in the thread, but even here I understand there's some controversy on the sample I've put up with. That said, if anyone knows any places to find reference drum samples, I should be able to find a better explanation for my intensions. And if anyone must know, that clip was done by Bentley Rhythm Ace. I'm expecting more missiles being hurled towards me after what I towed back, but that's the problem when the usual web browsing won't give me much else
  6. It took a lot of browsing, but this 14-second clip has the tone I'm looking for, although not quite as compressed as crazy as shown in the explosion further on.
  7. It would help if you mention which one Distortion? Flange? Delay? Nonetheless, what I'm thinking specifically tone-wise is late 80s-early 90s dance riffs, with artists I'm looking at here including the Prodigy, the Crystal Method and the Chemical Brothers. I could even point at Khalan's "DevilLab Acid" for the kind of mood to look for, but that's five years old and I don't even know if the effect remains now.
  8. I know this may be an odd question, but I'm hoping in one of my incoming tracks to manipulate the drums so that they sound really gritty and dark sounding, but I don't want to overdo it and be shrugged off as a noob when I do that () so I thought I'd come here for help. All I want to know is what kind of effects I should put on the drum kit being used, in what order and if possible in what quantities. If it helps, this is what they currently sound like. (Default demos for the win.) Thanks for the help in advance
  9. Even though we understand that time has to move on, it's shows like this that help make people much more aware of the sites that they currently reside. We can easily do with things that have felt more like a community thing, and it's that that I feel has been done right. Thanks once again, and... sure I'll wait patiently for VGF81 In other news, I have VGF70 for the people who want it. Or if I'm doing the wrong thing in waiting for Larry to make the release official on Paige's webserver, sure he can edit the link out or he can tell me to remove it O.o
  10. We could always ask DarkeSword, but does he have time to check IPs on edited posts? You be the judge.
  11. He usually lurks around MSN when I sometimes come on. If I see him I'll bring up the subject and see what he thinks.
  12. Okay, so I managed to read on at the messages. I'm still a little concerned if this grudge existed since that phase in CS though, but I see where you're looking at. Still I do feel a little concerned if he's rubbing what's been exchanged between you two the wrong way, and he's taken all this "aaaah, Pixie just flamed me" business too seriously. I know he's my squire within the kingdom of Trenthia, but I've had to put him on block until he can control his temper a little better. I'll release it every now and again to check on him though, thus that doesn't mean that I necessarily hate the guy. Still, I am now puzzled on which side seems to be the instigating side, but whichever, I really want both parties to come to a halt with that sort of thing. I face enough drama with the DoD people shitting on me, and I don't want that kind of thing to come here too. And... just for the record, it's odyssey and Nasenmann, not the weird spellings put in the shownotes
  13. He does kinda have a point though; we brits never got our hands on the Tales series outside emulation. Kyle, my WAV will come to you ASAP. It's hosted, and I should have given you the link a long time ago.
  14. Not to rub any butter in anyone's faces, but if this grudge relates to what happened in the mastering phases of Chrono Symphonic, can you at least let that slide and come to a compromise? And I don't think he was attacking the thread; he thinks that you attacked him during the recording of the last show (which was my first forray into VGDJ and I gotta say it was a slick job between you and Wing ). I think a certain Black Eyed Peas song would be appropriate right now. Where is the love??
  15. Mine's coming through, the refrain is building in well enough. I should be able to get a render set by Tuesday. It's like brewing beer; optimise the time you have and it'll taste better
  16. Kyle, didst thou receiveth my PM?
  17. Or Stinkoman? Oh, and the deadline's today. You asking for a deadline challenge???
  18. Is it because I'm one of the two artists (three if you count house and paragon as separates) doing Fighting of the Spirit? Nonetheless, I'll believe it when I see it when I come home this weekend. Presea will also be done and sent tomorrow unless Kyle will find any objections when I send the file to him.
  19. I wish I can say the same, but I have no TV licence over here. Still yeah, definitely made an interesting run out here in spite of the 2 hour delay, and a welcome change to tuning into Radio 1 for one morning only. And we salute Beatdrop for chipping in like a sailor should
  20. Haha, more from the Milkyway Wishes camp? And I thought Mustin and Myth wanting to chime in would be enough O.O
  21. I just said that he's improved greatly since making this mix, that's all. It shouldn't have been that hard to understand
  22. I don't know. I've seen ilp0 provide some neat stuff at VGMix, and in my opinion, I think he has actually grown better since his initial mix (which apparantly is this one). I have to agree with Larry on the instance of the clicks that randomly come through throughout the track (not to mention hiss now that I think of it), and my own take on the situation is that it could have been given a slight push up the front for the drums and - what I think should have been debated from the panel - should have been given a much BETTER ending than the sudden transition to high-pass filter and the pop at the end. But still, I can't deny that the ideas are all in place and show a nice Latino-esque movement to it that can easily show things nicely for the people. The guitar skills are also very fluent in performance, and it's a common sign that styles like that should be pushed forward into the Dwelling of Duels someday. This track was featured in my VGMix spotlights on ThaSauce for the week of November 5-11 2005, and to be frank that week was really slow, hence the lack of tracks in there. Personally, if it was me voting on it I would have said no, but it's still alright. If that can pass, I'd expect ilp0 to keep pushing the pace with his future subs. I've grown quite fond of his new FF7/Wolfenstein 3D mix myself Still, welcome to OCR and enjoy your stay.
  23. I usually hate Tuesdays (it'll be 5AM over here) because that's where I have to struggle with five hours of lessons straight, but at least the time feels more convenient. I'll try what I can to make it, although God knows how long it'll take for me just to get out of bed in the morning
  24. I'm not Larry, but he's doing a show later in the week just so he can spend some quality time with his lady. Speaking of which, even though her call-in on VGF77 was satisfactory, I kinda miss her being a guest host
  25. Wait, so if Het (and possibly me alongside him) is doing one competing mix, who's doing the other? O.o
