  1. I don't think many people will take this article seriously, at all. That isn't Times, like the New York Times( Though they really didn't like the PS3 either. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/20/arts/20game.html?_r=3&oref=slogin&oref=slogin&oref=slogin ). That's TIME, as in TIME Magazine. One of the biggest publications in the world. the guy does brings quite some good points about things that the xbox360 beats the ps3 out of the park.
  2. And Sony gets their awesome free publicity, and all it cost was people stupidly freezing themselves for a few days, and a riot where people got hurt. You can't tell me that in the Sony offices, they aren't grinning and ringing their hands over this. They knew it would happen somewhere, and it did. And now they have the most "wanted" item in the world right now. And all it cost them was cutting back the number of units to the US. Which will then be made up for when the next batch comes in, and everybody that sees this crap rushes out to get one for themselves. Shame on Sony for letting it happen, shame on those people for letting it get that bad, and shame on the sheep that will perpetuate it by buying into the whole thing. And some of you wonder why I don't like Sony as a company; it has nothing to do with their comsole, it has to do with how they act. Regardless, get a ps3, it's good for your soul. =)
  3. Okay, the deal is that the PS3 includes the graphical architecture of both PS2 and PS1 but not the sound system. It has to be emulated through the firmware. Since some games are non-standard soundwise, these games end up muted or distorted. The firmware will be upgraded however and these problems will eventually vanish. yeah I only wish these douchebags were as informed as you or anyone who has followed the ps3 for some time. Anyways, you're right, they will upgrade it, but I can't help but to feel uncomfortable about this. There's clearly no doubt about it, the Ps3, Xbox 360 and even maybe the Wii will adopt the PC games policy of "we deliver first, then fix later". I hate so much when I come with high expectations to a game(Titan quest comes to mind) only to find it's incomplete or plagued with bugs that will be fixed "later" with software updates. Sure, it brings some advantages, as there are room for new functionality to be added this way to your games, but they're giving that for a price anyways. The days where you turned on your console to play a game knowing that it won't need any shitty update to work properly(at least for the majority of games) seem to be going away to never come back again.

From what I read in an article at ign, the software ratio for the ps3 launch was below one game per console, this means that lots of this consoles are being bought for the sole purpose of being sold later at an auction site to gain profit out of it, which of course doesn't benefits sony at all. But yeah, the ps3 is expensive for people who have a tight budget like some of us, in our case all that is left is to wait for price drops. This topic is, quite frankly, old and unnecesary. If you look at it this way, sony is practically giving away their product. A blu-ray player costs around 1000 dollars and they are giving you one plus a hard drive, controllers, and the most powerful console around for 600$ (that supports the highest output to date, 1080p). I can't afford it right now, and for me its too damn expensive but its because I look at it from the console perspective and for me, 600$ is too much for just a console. But if you look at it from the media center side of things, it doesn't looks that expensive. Sony is betting a lot on the ps3, it's true, but there is still a lot of time left until we see if they were doing the right thing.   7. Resistance, for example, uses 16GB I think. Wow, what makes it so huge though? I mean, it looks like an FPS on a PC and those use DVDs. Indeed. Even gargantuan fps like UT2k4 and farcry don't take that much, I smell inflation in those numbers. The game seems good and has tons of stuff, but I don't think they crammed so much different stuff to have to use 16 gb of space, even moreso by seeing in videos and images the same enemies over and over.
  8. Impressive screens indeed, but as some people have already said, we pc gamers are kinda used to this kind of graphics now as we've been having them for around a year or so. That doesn't takes away the fact that Resistance looks like a great game though. The Ps3 has on resistance his killer app indeed(that is at least for the american market), but let's not forget the Wii has one of the greatest killer Apps ever for launch too: The Legend of Zelda. And the ps3 still has a lot to prove on its graphical prowess, after such amazing games like GoW that are coming out for the 360 that are on parallel and at some points even surpassing what we're seeing on the ps3. Admittedly, they've been around for a year already so the ps3 might start showing some visual advantage later on.

  10. Wow, 5$ for a ps1 game is pretty darn nice. And what the heck are the ninty fanboys doing in this thread? geez can't they go away to praise miyamoto and masturbate to zelda teaser videos as they always do? I mean... 5$ for a ps1 game and 15$ for a n64 game? uh? doesn't that makes nintendo's service look like a user milking machine? even more when you take in account how many remakes they release every year of the games they are selling you on the vc. Anyways, I'm burning today a cd with a complete collection of all the NES roms to play them on my ps2. yay for emulation!

  12. the ps3 will do fine. But not as well as the ps2 imho. The 360 has a very good marketshare already and the Wii is looking pretty good and with some luck it could do better than the gamecube. I really hope the ps3 don't fail, and I don't think it will but the price point is something to take in account and I think will hurt sales a bit. With exclusive games like MGS4 in the horizon, how could this console fail?

  14. So first, big thanks to F4T4L for showing me this song, the bastard has an infinite supply of tranceable tunes. So yeah it's a DEMO. It's missing a lot of things(like cymbal crashes, effects, woooshhhes, fairy dust and all the magical things that make up the good boomtiss) and it's halfway done. But the arrangement for this section and a rough mastering work is done there. The transition between sections is very rough and sudden but as I said, it's still missing things that I'll add up later. It's been quite a while since I posted a mix here, but I've been working in some tunes that will (hopefully) please fans of the genre. Anyways, I wanted it to sound powerful and epic but not too overwhelming, and I think I'm on the right track. As always I appreciate and take in consideration any input. Hope you enjoy this! Btw, Rastan is sum Conan the Barbarian ripoff videogame, and Quimera is Chimera in spanish, I didn't spell it wrong.

  18. now that I thik about it you're right. The initial scope for the project was very wide, so the time it has taken isn't that much compared to all the effort involved. Also I'm really happy that every track I've heard is no less than great.
  19. man we remixers are such a bunch of lazy farts. This project has taken longer than it should. But hey what the hell, it'll be the best project since KiC, so hell it'll be worth the wait.
  20. You have to do your panning automation on the mixer's channel of the audio signal you want to pan. If you want you can modulate the panning using an lfo by connecting the lfo's output to the mixer channel's pan cv in. So yeah, automate it on the mixer. EDIT: oh and remember to create a sequencer track for your mixer, since it doesn't creates one by default and you will need one to automate the parameters on the mixer.
  21. What V Said. Also, if you want to control pitch in a more dynamic way, most instruments have two wheels to the left, the MOD wheel and the pitch wheel. With the mod wheel you can asign some parameters to it and control them with the wheel, and the pitch wheel does what you think it would, changes the pitch as you move it. You can set how many octaves up/down you can move through by changing the number on top of the wheels.
