ftp://66.221.70.133/FS/Sir_NutS-The_Red_Moon.mp3 Well here's my first wip(Very rough). I'm aiming to a dark trance track, with that little aggressive touch from doom. The first part is the original song's progression, heavily changed. I'm planning on adding more familiar melodies from the original towards the end. Anyways, I'll post any progress on it.
-
I got my headphones back so I can start mixing again. I started e1m4 a few weeks ago and I was checking it last night, so I might drop a wip really soon.
-
I like the title. I did some stuff on e1m4 before my sister broke up my heaphones about a week ago, tonight I'll get them fixed again and I'll keep working on it.
-
Is it too late for me to give e1m4 a try?

I am very sorry and I want to express my apologies to Darkesword and the team for not being able to offer my entry for this project. I tried different approaches to remixing it, and I think darkesword got some of that, but they weren't good or enough for this project. Now I think I've given up at it. Unless a friend of mine that I already contacted wants to help me with it on a collab, I think I could be counted out from the project (If I'm not out already, I haven't checked the thread for a good while). So yeah sorry again, there's still a possibility I could make something but I don't want to give any expectations. Good luck to Darkesword and the team.

lmao... from those names I can only choose a few as trance. crystal method? chemical brothers? the prodigy? depeche mode? Meat Beat Manifesto? DJ SHADOW? Also I must admit that Paul Oakenfold would be good trance (In fact I'm going to his concert soon in my country) but come on, from those artists you mentioned there's a big range of genres that don't include trance. Big beat, breakbeat, Trip Hop, dnb.. hell they aren't even techno. So what makes you think you could say what is good trance or good techno? meh, I'm not gonna even bother anymore.
-
erhmm well I don't really listen to techno. For every electronica ignorant, everything that has somehow a 4 on the floor beat and sawy synths is techno, however, the genre I listen to (and mix in) is Trance. I Don't know whats your huge collection of techno, but it sounds to me like you're just starting to listen to electronica. Trance has so many variations that I can't name them all. Infected mushrooms, Dj Tiesto, System F, Ferry Corsten, Carl Cox, Cosmic Gate, Those and many more are the type of electronica I listen to. I'm sure they won't ring a bell to you anyways. For this mix, I didn't tought "hey lets mix this in melodic trance" or "I'm gonna make a friggin amazing Athem trance song out of this". I don't like to stick to genres, I just let my style flow with the mix. I don't know why this guy is so pissed off that this song doesn't sounds like techno when in the first place it wasn't intended to. I must agree in that gecko yamori is a good mixer, but "techno" is not his main genre. I suggest you to listen to people like SupergreenX, bLiNd, Prophecy or Thomas Nelson, those are consistent remixers of the genre, although, their genre is Trance, not techno. So yeah, I don't mind if someone doesn't likes the song, but saying that it just plain sucks based on the fact that you have amassed a huge techno collection... I don't think its right (considering the fact that the song isn't techno). Also, saying its repetitive?!? lol this has more variation than the 80% of the trance songs. Start looking for some Trance artists, and then come back and give an opinion that actually has a base. (and apex twin techno? wtf?)
-
as for my WIP I think I showed you something not too long ago darkesword, yeah it was crappy and I'm starting over again but I think it shows that I'm still interested in the project. Right now I'm not having spare time to sit on my pc and mix something but hopefully I'll come up with something soon.

OCR01248 - Gargoyle's Quest "Gargoyle on Broadway"
Sir_NutS replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
I'm glad to see that at last Nixdorux decided to show his skills to the people of Ocremix. I've been a fan of his work since I heard "Zelda is In Love" at vgmix, and believe me people, he has much more outstanding songs in his repertory, although I must say that this is his most experimental piece. As as I said before in vgmix, great work nixdorux. People, expect much more amazing work from this guy. -
Hey, I'm here just to say that I've been working on my song. I'll be uploading a wip tonight or tomorrow, there was a hurricane here yesterday and internet is kinda choppy today. Since I'm remixing "The Great Ace" I'm trying to give it an epic feeling, a very powerfull remix. I'll post the link later. Oh and I'm ok with "The Adventurers"
-
ok I think I've decided. I'l do track 13: Great Ace. gonna start trying stuff with it.
-
Well there are two tracks I'll be willing to do: Track 13 - Level:Great Ace I could do some electronica with this, expanding the original song wich is very short and simple. Track 18/19 - Level: Lil' Trip With this one I could go a bit more out of the box with something more experimental. I'm not remixing both tracks. I selected two tracks just in case someone wants to do one of these. In that case, we could discuss and decide wich one remixes the track. Until then I'll be messing around with these two.
-
yeh I bet a lot of people will want to do Green Greens(Myself Included) But I think I could take track 13 or 21. I'm still listening so I dunno, there are a lot of tracks in there.

Well, as a fan of blind's work since temple trance came out, I must say that this song goes one step up in production and quality for his music. There are a few flaws, like those hats that get too high on the freq range, but this is indeed a very carefully written and programmed track. I have heard most of blind's original works and not much of it compares to this. However, I felt like it lacked a bit more of that good old blind's groundbreaking style (meteorave, i.e.). The sounds are pretty generic here (though they're phat indeed), and we have blind's classic 303 synth modulation. I must say that I like blind's music a bit more when he goes into some unexplored terrains, but I can't say that I didn't enjoyed(and still enjoy) this track. Keep up the good work dude, as a Trance music fan(and mixer) we have the task to show the people that trance is a great genre when its done with profesionalism.

ACK! There was a serious lack of NutS! Sorry, Mike. I won't forget "Overheating" next week. I had a nagging feeling I was forgetting something too. [frowny face] No prob larry. keep up the good work
-

OCR01018 - Ecco: The Tides of Time (GG) "Medusa Mix"
Sir_NutS replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Well I've listening this song almost since sadorf started it, and I've always liked it. Yes its a bit old and took long to get posted but I think that it deserves to be where it is now. The soft synths flow nicely in this song, and although the transition is a bit abrupt, its a nice change and it kills what could have been a repetitive remix. Nice Work to sadorf, and I think we'll be seeing more of his work posted as well. -
OCR01006 - Sonic the Hedgehog "sonik special"
Sir_NutS replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Well as analoq stated, this mix began as a little compo we had in irc between Analoq, Sadorf and I, the song was proposed by Kyle. It was the sonic Special stage remix, a catchy tune but with an odd time signature. I also added a rule: it has to be FUNKY. I think analoq completely fulfilled the purpose of that compo with this funky, catchy and addictive remix. Every sound is managed to get that funky-retro style that I was looking for in that compo. The sound quality is very good and, I'm happy to see that analoq actually worked on the drums a bit more than in his previous remixes. Also, he had to do the drums and the bassline from scratch, due to the different time signatures. As someone else stated, this is one of the best mixes ocr has had lately, and I'm looking foward for more great remixes from analoq (and more compos too). -
OCR01003 - Treasure Hunter G "Linoleum Stalactites"
Sir_NutS replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Well I have had this since the IMC-X, and I like it a lot. The drumwork is great, taking in consideration the odd time signature. It's not an easy task to make beats for a 6/8 song. The beat reminds me of Korn's "Dead". In the other hand, the synths are very good and original, the Arrangement is handled very professionally and the music flows and never gets boring. I like the style of adhesive boy, as he's always trying to bring something different. Nice Work. -
OCR00994 - Final Fantasy VII "Where Destiny Meets"

come on people, lets not start flaming in the reviews thread, lol anyways, nice song here, not the traditional jazz, but it sounds jazzy to me. Maybe do something with more swing and some jazz progressions next time? I would love that! -

Heh, I guess it's a love it or hate it mix lol. I'm just glad that some people liked it. Even if it were just one person, I still would be happy just knowing that he really enjoyed something made by me .
