Dude... I have no PM from you.

    *bashes head*

ARTISTS POST WHAT ART YOU CLIAMED TO DRAW SO WE CAN ORGANIZE IT!!!!! EDIT: Just what you claimed, not the art itself.

  2. Whoo!! New version is up! (click the bottom link durr) The page texture is working very well. :D The next thing we need to do is make the page look like it has pages under it. I've tried doing that in Flash but the flipping code screws me over. Usa, if it isn't too much trouble, could you make another PNG kinda like this: (make the black part transparent, still keep the edges uneven if possible). That way we can make a better effect of pseudo-3D.

  3. Musicians! C’mon guys! Look how hard I’ve worked. In 3 days I built half of the project. Get off this message board, onto Reason, and prove to me that I have no idea what hard work is. While this project has great artistic talent, a fantastic project concept, and a sweet Flash interface, this project is at its core, about the music, and it always will be.

    Reason? o.O

Anyway, I think having whipped up a piece in 2 days is not slow at all :D

Oh, and great to hear that Arek is getting better. I wish the best for him! Oh yeah, and my personal tip for you, Arek: Use crystalline salt (It's got an orange-tanned colour) instead of refined one. Refined one is absolutely not good, especially with your problems.

    YEAH! Reason?!

Anyways, I should be finished (compositionally anyways) with my song rather quickly, just need some inspiration.

    /check in

Heh, I was kinda hoping my paragraph would be inspiring. <(^_^; )> I promise you I wasn't trying alienate anyone.

Anyway, I've gotten a bit of feedback from some people and so far they think it looks real nice, but it doesn't feel like the big, thick, ancient storybook it should be. Thus, that's what I'll be working on achieving for a while. (EDIT: It seems I can't make the cover page bigger than the other pages. The page itself disappears after 2 flips forward in the book. I'm certain that happens to keep the book from slowing down the computer. Don't wanna mess with that. <(>_>)>)

Could one of the artists please make an ancient-looking page for me? Nothing elaborate is necessary (it could be any color), I just need an ancient-looking page to experiment with. You can even give the page a rough edge to the outside of it if you want (I'd like that anyway ). If you do decide to do that, please export it as a 300x400 PNG (24-bit with alpha) as that will simplify a few things.

Does anyone on the project have anything to say about the Book outline?

    EDIT:

    ...

F&*# I'm stupid. Why did I set the writers chat date to when I have Cross Country practice? I guess I really meant it when I said be prepared for anything. 8O Anywhoo it seems none of the writers have even browsed this topic this week anyway. No writers date shall be set until the writers confirm that they are here and watching the topic for updates (Arek's taking the month off). Also...uhh.. I've never set up a chatroom on AIM before. <(^_^; )>

ONE MORE THING!!: Artists! I haven't been able to keep up with all the work you guys have claimed. Help me out by posting names of all the art you're working on so I can organize it on page 1. Thankee =)

  4. BIG IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT TIME!!!

Allrighty, after 20 hours of (mostly) enjoyable work for the past 3 days, I present the complete outline of the Kirby Storybook Project. This version outlines the entire plot from start to finish (minus the writing, some music and most of the art =P). What this means for the project is that everybody better get to work! We’re going to become a Site Project!

Artists! I think it’s about time I start giving you some guidance in this crazy project. Here’s a quote from the book, Animators Survival Kit, "I always sketch everything out small first. The little drawings, because they're 'thinking' drawings, always seem to show if the idea is working clearly or not." Simply put, I want you guys to do the same with the Kirby copy ability and environment art, aka, more WIPs. We really need more ‘thinking’ drawings to clutter*kicked* decorate the project with.

EDIT: No WIP due date for the thinking drawings. Post them up as you make them.

Writers! It’s prime time we start writing this damn story. Tuesday night, 9:00 PM Eastern. Be on AIM and be prepared for ANYTHING!! <(O_O)>

    Other stuff!!

Arek’s getting better! We’ve discovered the cause of his heart condition, high blood pressure, and now he has immediately changed his eating habits to lower it. Armed with knowledge and hope, Arek is more than ready to combat the disease.[/corny]

I’m dropping Yoyo and Cutter from my art. That would be all of them technically. You guys draw circles around me.

I learned something interesting in Africa. It seems that all dial-up users will under no circumstance download a file over 10MB. This interests me because I’m certain that I can get the filesize of this entire project at or under that with acceptable quality. Heck, the project outline already has ½ of the entire project in it and it’s only 4.1 MB. <(-‘v^)>

EDIT: Allrighty, Arek and I have agreed that the Metaknight incorporation will take place between the time when Marx makes his wish to Nova, and when the stars create the starship Kirby attacks Nova in (Kirby's unconsious at that time, good moment for a flashback). Nova will be divided into 2 chapters. MaliceX's remix will also be divided accordingly (thanks for the funky Nova sounds at the beginning bud!)

Quote:"The director is a 2 faced creature with a foot in 2 camps. The situation demands it." *talking to the executives* "It's going to be great! We hope." *talking to the workers* "Do good work and draw faster"

Anywhoo, I hope everyone’s excited now. I only have 1 week before school starts and I want us to get as much done as freaking possible. :D

  5. Ugh, I've been working all day on the Storybook and I didn't get nearly as far as I wanted to. I think I spent more than half my time reworking code and trying to fix glitches relating to the table of contents. Anywhoo, here's the latest of the storybook in exe format http://www.kwarp.com/storage/StorybookProject.exe (I'll explain later). If anyone needs a Mac-compatible version just ask and I'll upload it in a jiff.

In other news it seems our Easter Egg animator, KineTheGenius, submitted a cartoon to newgrounds.com The popularity he's recieved from it is MASSIVE. I strongly reccommend checking it out. :)

Also, Arek's given me some of his shares of the project, so now I own 51% of the company. :P I think it's better just to quote this.

Arek: You post in that thread yet?

    Arek: as in

Arek: are you goig to say you took over most of the project

    Arek: as in

Arek: are you going to say you are head hancho

    Arek: as in

Arek: are you going to say you are like the demi god

    Arek: as in

KWarp11: I was just getting to that actually

    Arek: XD

Yeah, anyway, once I completely finish outlining the storybook, I think we'll be worthy of becoming a site project. *dances* (>^_^)>

  6. Hmm.. we're already tripping on the first step are we? When I get back home next week I'll make sure to kick this project into high gear. I'll finish making that Flash interface so quickly you'll all be speechless.

Seriously though, get these WIPs in or I won't have any music to put in my WIP. 8O

    EDIT: Also, I'm docking everyone's pay. :P

  7. Aww man, this sucks. We've lost some 4 musicians, and no one's even mentioned what's going to happen now that chthonics dropped out. Seriously, this is a big problem. We have a guy working on an animation without any music to go with it. Here's a few options I've compiled.

Chth's dropped out. What do we do?

    1) Get someone else to remix the Dedede theme and continue the animation

    2) Drop the animation altogether

    3) Change the animation to a battle with Metaknight.

I think option 3 is our best bet. I'll discuss it with our animator and see what he thinks.

  8. Egh... me no likes. How about you let me take on the melody with the Cello? (when I get home next week)Hearing annoying reptetive accordions at the beginning of the storybook would be a disaster.

I read a bit on how to be a good director during my trip so far and learned it's best to put a team's best people at the beginning and end of a project, the middle guys in the middle, and let the rest fill in the gaps.

Bottom line is LAOS, your track is too important for you to poorly remix it, heck even making an average remix is a bad move. The training song has to be good. It simply has to be. PLEASE DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED. I intend to do everything I can to help you with this remix when I get back. Wait until Saturday next week.

Hehe, yeah I think I am a bit eager. <(^_^; )> I agree with lightwarmth completely. Also, I'm echoing what I typed last page. Comments would be nice.

  10. Let's get to the point... I need to drop out of this project.

    Reasons:

    • 1. My song is alright, but I can't fit the melody in at all, let alone make it connect and make sense.
      2. I'm burnt out on remixing specific games for specific projects. Getting my S3&K track done was pulling teeth itself, and I just want to just be able to do any song that pops into my head.
      3. I don't want to waste time doing a track that I'm not enjoying and give the project a sub-par mix that was only intended for an Easter egg in the first place.
      4. Sounds like the animator has a lot on his hands as well, so it might just be for the better.

Again, I'm really SORRY! Better luck getting my brain to function creatively next time, I guess.

    -chth

Uhh... well if that's the case then we won't have a song (or a reason) to make a Dedede battle easter egg animation in the project. From what I understand from the above quote you kinda missed that. I suppose if you're really dropping out, the animation can change from a Dedede one to a Metaknight one. I'd like to hear from chthonic and pretty much everyone else on this project before a decision is made.

Who's remixing the Metaknight battle theme anyway?

  11. Hi all I'm typing from here in Israel. Arriving here was a total f@ing nightmare but now after 3 hours of sleep and 8 hours of driving 6 people and all our stuff in one car we've finally arrived at the hotel. slightly better anyway. I can't wait to get back home and finish outlining the Storybook for the project. 13 days now I think...

  12. Ha! Nice! Seems like the vote's unanimous. We're adding a Kirby animation into the project. :D

    KirbyMixer

Back to the remixing part; I have some interesting ideas for my remix, but I first want to know if that would fit with the chapter 8. Is it some kind of evil digital monster Kirby's dealing with, or just a computervirus which shouldn't be taken serious?

Personally I'd like the remix to sound like a(n) NES chiptune, but whatever suits you I guess.

I wanna write! C'mon KWarp, I've been ready forever here!

Yea me too. Dont make a writer mad or you will be assasinated with fully-sharpened pencils and murderous dialog... Laughing Yea we should get together sometime and think about the story at some point. I mean, us writers could at least brainstorm a bit while we wait right?

I was about to suggest that. You guys brainstorm a bit, and by the time I back, the plot will pretty much write itself. :P

  13. Heh, I'll bet everybody's pretty confused now. <(^_^; )>

Here's what happened: Back when Arek first had the idea for this storybook project, he wanted to include "flashback" battles with Dedede and Metaknight after Marx makes his wish to Nova to inspire Kirby to keep fighting. I convinced him that incorporating a battle with Dedede out of nowhere was a bad idea, but the one with Metaknight is still included at this point.

As a result: The battle with Dedede was cut from the story, but chthonic had already begun on a remix of the battle music. Keeping this in mind, I began to look for a way to keep the Dedede Battle remix in the project somehow, even if it isn't related to the Milky Way Wishes plot.

That's when I asked Kine if he'd be interested in animating a battle sequence between Kirby and Dedede to serve as an "easter egg" (aka hidden bonus) for the project.

The bottom line is: Despite the difficulties we're facing now, I really want to include this easter egg in the project. Kine is simply the best Kirby animator of any Kirby fan I've ever met.

Chances are, the project won't make it's desired due date at the end of this year (I'm forced out of town my whole winter break) anyway. So once again Kine, time isn't really an issue. Still, I can't singlehandedly decide whether this easter egg should be kept or not. Is anyone actually interested in seeing an animated battle between Kirby and King Dedede as a bonus for the project? If not, we'll drop it (and probably the song as well). If so, awesome! We'll give you as much time as it takes to get it done (it should fit it perfectly with the project deadline if we're lucky). Heck, if you need any help with the workload, I'll pitch in. I know how to use Flash better than some professionals. <(>_>)>

Anywhoo, answer the question in bold, the inclusion of this animation depends on whether or not people are interested in it.

  14. Egh, no internet for a week. Twas' in the Victoria Falls area.

The Dedede and Metaknight bits of this project are a real mess right now. I can't really do anything about it until I get back home at the end of the month. :? I'm going to contact Patrick on the Dedede part of the project and see what's going on on his part, but I haven't even looked into the Metaknight part yet. I'll leave that part up to Arek for now.
