  1. I must admit I liked Mcvaffe's version better, but thats not saying this one is bad. When I think of funk or hip-hop I think of po!, and when DJP takes a crack at it, it doesnt sound right to me (but thats just me =0!). Although fun to listen to on other levels, it feels to me like a techno song trying to be funk, although as Orkybash put it, it does take you there sometimes. Check it out for an interesting take on the Actraiser song. I give it a 7/10.
  2. I wish Peeples would make more songs like this, although I like his Prowl Redux for the song better, that doesnt make this one any less awsome. I sugest you check them both out, escpecailly if you enjoyed this one. Very grooveliscious and true to the original song, try playing this on loop while playing Red Alert =D. I cant see anything to complain about unless you hate the genre in general, I give it a 10/10 keep it up Peeples !
  3. Hmmm...listening to this mix now, I see that it is very ambient (something I missed before). Deffinetley not my favorite ambient piece or work of AmIEvil's, mostly becuase as Jivemaster put it, it lingers on. I think AmIEvil could have spent a little more time to make it evolve a little more. I give it a 5/10, its just average in my opnion.
  4. Sadly I never played NiGHTS because I flat out never played a Saturn. I got Prozax's NiGHTS mix and i loved it so much i had to go find another NiGHTS tune. I was pleased to see one in the archives, and even more pleased to see high quality composer McVaffe as the remixer. This song is very fun, and Im a sucker for the jazz like piano usage, and that instrument that plays the meledy is just has "energetic" written all over it. This is going on my perky music playlist . Recommended, I give it a 10/10 because i flat out enjoy it and its energy. EDIT: I would like to add that the instruements in all of McVaffes works, but escpecially in this one sound very natural, and flow together semlessley, no doubt part of the overall appeal.
  5. Im not much of a fan for rave, but like the Pac-Man theme to its extents. I never really got hooked on the game so it never really got on my nervers, although I could see why being its only like 8 notes long...the ambience here sounded kind of out of plave, and the "chirping", as DJP put it, just anoyed me. I didnt enjoy this song at all...I give it a 4/10 (sry).
  6. Amazingly enough I kind of enjoy this 80's like tune. I was amazed how he could take a nearly 5 second long tune i believe it is, and turn it into a 1:50 long song. It has a lot of spirit and make you want to go down to your nearest arcade and eat some ghosts =D. Considering the restriction involved and so on I think it came out pretty well and I give it an 7.5/10, my favortei Pac-Man mix on this site.
  7. I really think this is one of the best mixs on the site. Estradasohere does indeed cook up a very swinging jazz song complete with sax solo and chello solo. I came on this site one day thinking to myself "I could use a good jazz version of SMB 2", and bamn i get this and I have no complaints what so ever, its exactly what I invisioned and more. I really wish these guys would do anotehr song for us Jazz fan out there because they ahve raw talent. I give this song a 10/10 easy. Highly recommended.
  8. Hehehe, I know exactly what your talking about Orky. When I first listened to it I thought it might be my comp . Never played Doom 2, but loved the music from the first installment and this song is pretty good too. The distortion didnt bother me at all, in fact I kinda liked it. I recommend this song to be played on a quadronic speaker setup because it supports it and is MUCH cooler...escpecially at that one cool part...This song has high special effects and it sounds like a lot of thought went into the song itself, I give it a 9.5/10 on its technical level because of its originality and high production level. Highly recommended to listen to atleast once.
  9. Unlike some people, i kinda enjoyed how the songs style changed alot escpecially the part at the end with the drums and base. The instruments where nice and clean, and i also enjoyed the steel drum part. One of those evolving songs that never seem to end, which I think this one could have taken off from the drum and bass easily, and I wouldnt ahve minded. Thanks Jivemaster and Malcos for this interesting mix, I give it a 9/10 because although it I really enjoyed it, it is a little misleadign sometimes, but thats just on a technical scale.
  10. Hehehehe...im a Dj Pheonix fan so i liked XD, the drums are alittle annoying in the beggining, but its all worth it for the meledy (I think ). I wish he made the beggining shorter and took off with the meledy a little more, but its a decent mix anywayz. I liked the original song ALOT, and this is a good mechanical mix of it, atleast worth listening to once. I give it a 7.5/10.
  11. Heres another reason to get every Peeples song =D. It starts with a dark ambient feel, then the Peeples beat kicks in and you get taken away...o ya. This is how i think the lava stage music shoudl ahve really sounded, with that optimistic feel, instead of its...lets go kill some badguys for the hell of it feel, wich even this songs pokes at in the middle. Nice contrast and synths. I give it a 10/10, highly recommended.
  12. I lub AmIEvil's work alot, thatnks to him I have become an ambient fan and this is one of the reasons. It takes the holow feeling and lonnlieness of the game with an awsome piano and some rocken synthsand throughs it into a medley that is just awsome. If your an ambient fan get, if your a metroid fan get it, if your niether then get it anwyas I DONT CARE. Easily gains a 10/10 for me.
  13. Ya i really dug this one, it keeps very true to the original and is exactly what I imagined it would sound like if made now a days. Yet another amazingly solid techno song on this website, with that crazy synth in the background among others made me really enjoy this song. As Joe said, if you like C64 or especially Arknoid music, then check this one out. I give it a 10/10
  14. This was actually kind of neat with the vocals and its hollow ambient feel, kinda like a metroid mix except a little more repetitive. I cant really say that its an evolving piece, as it just kind of plays a few chords at a time. I have not played it or have an idea of what type of game Tempest is (shutup Mustin ) but from the music I can guess it was a puzzle game of some sort or a space flyer of some sort. This is deffinetly worth listening to, I give it a 7.5/10.
  15. Maybe its me, but that guitar was really ruff and chinky sounding. The bass was kinda nice although it got repetitive and same with the drums. I never played the game, but there seems to be alot of guitar wailing songs comming from it, which I'm not a fan of. I give it a 6/10
  16. This remix totally rocks in everyway possible, from crazy monkey hollering to awsome gitar riffs and dance house vocals. This is a high grade DK remix and my personal favorite so go download it now. I give it a 10/10 hands down, when u have 2 awsome remixers collaborate like this u cant lose. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
  17. Daknit is one of my favorite mixers and he doesn't disappoint me with this very crunchy mix of the infamous sanctuary music. Its a strange jazz-hiphop hybrid song with plenty of breakbeat thats almost peeples style (a good thing =D). The song slowly evolves and gains the background quality similar to Scott Peeple's Bridman ClearSkies, but in some ways is more dynamic with semi-evolving drums, crazy lead/background (ya i dont understand it either) instruements that come in and carry the song, and an awsome sitar part. Strike one up for Daknit, I give it a 9.5/10 for being so damn enjoyable and different twist on a well known song (atleast to all RE fans out there).
  18. Its a very moody piece with a beautiful use of piano, chello, pads, and choir ahhhs. I really liked this song as it contrasted most of the music on the website and in my collection. I never played the game but i can imagine it from the music and the screenshot...i might check it out sometime. The Kreme gives it a 8/10
  19. I lub this song...i used to spend countless hours spenidng time raising those stupid choas just to race their panzie asses, but the arcade like music and gameplay kept me going. I think this song is a beautiful remake keeping the spirit and catchyness of the original. A solid tehno dance with lots of spirit and beat, if you got hooked on the original then youll love this song. I give it a 10/10 for keeping true to the original song and making me want to dance.
