I think they should stop trying so hard to make Yoshi suck. He has the potential to be a very good character, if it weren't for stupid and deliberate steps taken to make him suck. Not being able to jump right out of a shield, for example.

As are doc's pills. That doesn't mean they can't be used to great effect. My brother used to be deadly with Yoshi. If you're good with eggs, Yoshi can be quite an evil little bastard.

This addresses one of my concerns about using the music for routines, but not the other: I often (in fact, almost always) have to modify tracks to make them work as floor routine music, which goes explicitly against part C of the terms of use. I have always asked the ReMixers before using their ReMixes as routine music. Does this constitute getting a separate license from the remixer? If so, then don't worry about changing the terms of use just to accomodate me; I can just continue to use remixes with permission (ie licenses) obtained directly from the arranger. IF we go by the assumption that I am using it under an independant license from the remixer, it raises another issue: should/could I still attribute the track to OCR if anybody asks? I would be using a modified version of the mix under a different license from the one offered by the site; though it would not be explicitly against the terms of use for me to attribute it to OCR, it seems it would be a violation of the submission agreement for the arranger to give me permission to do so.

It appears that mario has much greater recovery range than in melee.

OMG FLSLAYER SUCKS BALLS ... wait... Holy shit, this is actually really good. I can't believe I'm saying this of a mix that relies so heavily on slayer (WHICH IS STILL EVIL AND STILL SUCKS BALLS), but this is really quite good. The solo was especially well done.

I also thought the yoshi music was quite meh.

Jigs would be top tier were it not for the fact that he's insanely light; there are multiple characters who can kill him with an uncharged smash at under %50 damage. Otherwise, yes, he pwns.

This mix is pure awesome. Use of samples from the game was brilliant.

I'm looking to expand my knowledge of music theory. I'm completely self-taught, and have a fairly good understanding of the basic concepts, but I'd like to delve into the more complex stuff. I know enough that you could tell me to play a song in a particular key and I could do it. I know basic chord structure; I can recognize a basic major or minor triad, and a very little beyond that. But I'm looking to get some more solid knowledge of the more complex elements. Any reccomendations?

I'd say the worst part of the whole counter-culture thing is not the rejection of popular music just because it's popular, but the acceptance of "indy" music just because it's indy. Look at Modest Mouse. Near as I can tell, there's nobody on the planet who actually likes modest mouse, but everybody pretends to so they can say they listen to indy music. The funny part is, I don't think modest mouse even qualifies as being "underground" anymore, since everybody and their mother has heard of them.

There is such a thing as good pop music, I won't deny it. But look at some of the crap that has sold millions. Take Kelly Clarkeson's "Since U Been Gone." Everything about that song is so generic a computer program could have written it. The lyrics are simply one disconnected breakup song cliche after another. The writer didn't even bother trying to link them together into something coherent, it sounds like they drew lines out of a hat. And it was a huge hit! BUt as I said, this is merely the best example of the worst of pop. There are some genuinly good pop songs out there.

The mix is now in Usa's hands. He's gonna do percussion and bass, then once he's done that I'll record the whistles. Haven't heard from Magininja about the fiddle.

This is really nice. Very thought-out and well-executed. Good samples, good production, interesting arrangement ideas.

If their "daily updates" consist of telling us about 1 item or character each day, they could drag it out pretty long without telling us anything interesting.
