  1. How long has this utterly amazing remix been hiding in my music collection? Far too long. I've always loved the original, but when I was sorting through my music and I found this gem it gave me a far more awesome appreciation for the original song. Absolutely powerful and amazing.
  2. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this yet... This is, hands down, my favorite OC Remix. It is utterly amazing. The concept is brilliant (I have this idea in my head of some fantastic music video featuring the NES and Genesis in their epic duel and then coming together to fight some ridiculously easy Secret of Mana boss, like Mantis Ant) and the song is absolutely wonderful. This has given me a tremendous appreciation for the original song. I never previously cared for "Danger," considering it one of the lesser pieces on the soundtrack, but hearing this remix has given me a new respect for the complexity and fascinating nature of the piece. Thank you, Shnabubula. This is freaking awe-inspiring to me.
  3. This is a great remix... just envelopes you in sound. It just sounds so lush and full of beauty. This is the only Jenova remix I've really enjoyed. It's great, it's true to the original song but it's more "alive."
  4. I really like this remix. Really mellow and lovely. A lot of Castlevania remixes go the hard rock route, and who can blame them? What's more hard rock than killing undead creatures with a chain whip? But something like this has to come along and give us a "hero rides off into the sunset" look at Castlevania. Awesome.
  5. This song is so awesome! When I was driving it came on my iPod and I was like, "Wait, do I have a Boards of Canada song in my top rated? Wait, no I don't! This is that remix!" So you totally nailed the BoC beginning. I really like the dnb beginning to the song. It's like BoC cause it's really interesting but not necessarily melodic, just more like a soundscape. Then at about 2:25 it morphs into complete awesome. It sounds... really driven, I guess you could say. Like some kind of wicked machine pumping along. Fitting for the source material. The source song was something I really liked in the game. Then it trickles back into BoC territory with the dropped voices and mellow sounds. Absolutely fabulous.
  6. This song is awesome. I like to crank it when I'm driving through the city. It's got a sweet beat and is just a really fun remix to listen to. BTW, if you don't like rap or hip-hop... um... maybe you can refrain from comment? After all, you're biased against the song before you even start, really.
  7. So I just found this in my stash of Castlevania remixes tonight, and it's like being at a roller disco fighting the undead with a whip. It's ridiculous. In a good way. I really like it a lot, as my Last.fm profile will soon betray.
  8. This is really spiffy. It has a dance feel with a very... industrial, I suppose, feel to the lyrics. I think I could jam to this for quite awhile. "You know that oil and water don't mix." = awesome
  9. I have to say, as the nerdy girl who was tape recording video game music in the days of my youth that this site is so amazing to me. I've been prowling about grabbing remixes since about 2002-2003 and I still obsessively grab every remix I can find. Thank you so much, every one of you fabulous remixers, for making such amazing music. Music from here tends to top my playlist often (hence my excitement that Last.fm will now adequately portray my nerddom). I am excited about the prospect of making this place a bit more socially oriented... I don't tend to do forums well. I'm more of a lurker who seldom posts. Again, thanks! I'm excited about where this place is going!
  10. This is such a fun remix. I think I've listened to it 5 times in a row since I downloaded it. It nails the DDR style dead on. Now all I need are some steps for it. Now I can defeat vampires using the power of dance!
  11. This reminds me of a night rainstorm. It's very soothing and mellow, but there's enough motion with the percussion and that awesome acoustic guitar base that everything just flows.
  12. I love it. It starts out as this great metal take on the theme and then mellows way down and rebuilds. I love the building back up from that 1:30ish point up to 2:50 when the main melody starts to come back in and then it's like the whole piece jumps right back out at you. The whole changing from "The Decisive Battle" to the wicked ferocity of "The Fierce Battle" is awesome. Need to go put this on the MP3 player.
  13. This has so much beautiful innocence to it. I always like when remixes capture the heart of the song they remix. Very pretty and light. I like it.
  14. Normally I'm totally not into "prelude" remixes, but something about this one is different to me. I like the blend of styles and I like the guitar work late in the song. It's got this heroic feel to it, like you're stepping off into the great unknown to save the universe from the bad guys. Very nice work.
  15. I've been listening to this mix a lot recently and it still blows me away. I can't believe this remix was AmIEvil's first time playing a violin, but then there are some people with exceptional musical skills. Fantastic stuff.
  16. This song is so awesome. At first I had it on my drive and didn't listen to it for awhile, but when Winamp was shuffling through all my remixes I heard it and was shocked. So I listened to it again and now I sing along with the lyrics. So original and fun! Thank you!
  17. I actually liked this. It reminded me a lot of an old horror movie soundtrack or something. Yes, there are parts where the tuning problems sound bad, but for the most part it really puts the entire theme into a creepier perspective. Good stuff!
