  1. This song is too loud, and it's clipping all over the place as a result. It sounded ok, but I thought that the drums could do with some more variation. NO
  2. This is a very difficult decision for me. This sounds very good and big (on my speakers anyway) because of the powerful low frequency content. The sound is dynamic and I found the piece to be very expressive. However there is the issue that this song has been mixed many times over, and there are quite a few clicks in the mix. It is no surprise to me that this has split the panel. I'm going to vote NO, because as it stands, for such a quality sounding mix to have clicks in it is bad, so it could not be posted in it's present form.
  3. I was a little bit unsure about the beginning, but this is very cool. This is probably the dictionary definition of the phrase 'mix it up'. YES
  4. Thanks for the feedback guys! I'd been wanting to do this track for a while, so finally got round to it. For me the Final bosses on the Sonic games always makes me really focus and get serious, which for me is defnitely something. I used quick sharp strings to convey that seriousness, while the drums symbolised the steady thought, which is why they didn't change much. I kept the texture on the thin side, because as you're facing the boss, you are focused - you have one goal. You know this is the end, and all you have to do now is beat him and then you're finished. All the string sounds were from the Orkester soundbank that comes with Reason 2.5. Don't forget to check out my site, I have a couple more mixes on there. (www.malcos.btinternet.co.uk)
  5. My ears are ringing from that pad! That has some seriously piercing high frequencies. There are also a couple of times when I hear a glitch in the song, like a bad cd rip or something. My ears are hurting now. NO
  6. This sounds really good, but with a big exception. I know you said that drums are not your strong point, but the drumloop really does seriously detract from the orginality of the rest of the mix. I think with the pace this mix could be a little bit longer as well. I would ask that you resubmit with an original drum beat, because this could be a great mix imo. NO
  7. It's getting muddy and distorted down below! I can hear several sections of the song that are off-key. Overall though, the sound on this needs to be completely reworked. NO
  8. When the mix first started I almost expected a drum beat or something. Anyway.... the instruments all seem to blend together, but not in a good way. There isn't much to listen to other than the long chords, as that same riff (for want of a better word) just keeps playing in the background. NO
  9. Nice strong beats, doesn't even think of getting boring. Sounds good. Can't think of much to say other than YES
  10. That man screaming was totally unexpected! For a mix that had 'disco' in it's title, this didn't have much to listen to. The drum beat was very simple, and didn't evlove into anything more complex. Instrument sounds were thin. NO
  11. I concur with Digi Coma, the texture is much too thin to be ambient, and the sounds themselves are largely unchanging. Keep listening to ambient pieces and see how much they use reverb, delay and panning to achieve the effect. NO
  12. I found this to be quite emotive, and I really enjoyed it. There's nothing to stop this from being posted. YES
  13. Oh yeah, I probably should have mentioned it. The original song is called 'Gentle Stress (AMD SEXUAL MIX)' by MR. DOG feat. DJ Swan.
  14. The timing in this mix is never tight, and this is near enough exactly like the original. It's strange that no one ever really expands on Ken's theme... anyway NO
  15. The drums are too loud in this mix compared to the other instruments. This is similar to the orginal, too similar, and the thing that really doesn't convince me about this mix is that the drums are from a different world altogether, the sounds in this just don't gel. Nice beat though. NO
  16. I found that this was more of an upgrade than a remix - try taking a different angle from the original. NO
  17. I'm so borderline on this one it's crazy. This could have been more intense I reckon. I had a feeling that it was really going to another level, but it didn't and I had an anti-climax feeling at the end. This may end up being posted, but it's a no from me. Sorry. NO
  18. My apologies for not voting on this one earlier, this has been here for some time now. First of all, this mix is short. But it's not gripping enough for even that length of time. It's quite flat sounding. Go for more, taking into account everything that has already been said. NO
  19. I can hear good groove potential here. Unfortunately there are several issues to do with how the song was mixed and mastered. The combination of using too much reverb and emphasising the bass at the same time has caused the bass to distort. I personally know that this sort of reverb heavy and bass heavy tune takes time to mix - tweak the settings carefully to keep it big, but not too much or it'll become muddy, as this has. No reverb on the kick! Needs more work. NO
  20. Er.......ok...... I must admit to never hearing the orginal, but nevertheless, I can't pass this. I find it to be non-stylistically sloppy, to be honest. NO
  21. Whosoever submitteth more than one remix, thereby making themselves annoying, they shall be made to wait. I'll come back to this.
  22. This mix is ok, but it needs a breakdown or something, because the theme just keeps going and going.....it does get annoying after a while. It's a no from me. NO
  23. I've decided to start remixing again after a long break - too long! Anyway, there's still a lot of sonic stuff to cover. As always, let us judge one another fairly!
  24. Yeah, this got groove. Intro was misleading though, although perhaps for good effect, so the main mix would seem even better? Anyway YES
  25. Only criticism is that it could do with a bit more oomph on the kick. Nitpicking aside, good mix. YES
