OCR00973 - *YES* Chrono Trigger 'Forever' *FT*
Malcos replied to Antonio Pizza's topic in Judges Decisions
Oooh, I like the filtered stereo drums thing at the beginning. And this mix doesn't get boring it all, keeps changing. The programming is good, as is the sounds and arrangement. YES -
Well this is short. But that's probably because he did it for a DDR thing, and all those songs are like a minute and a half anyway. It is short, but the pace is correct for the time. YES
-
Blluupppppp, yeah, like I'm gonna let this pass. Yeah damn right, "one step too far". NO
-
I like the arrangement of this mix, however there are some sounds that really don't work IMO. The flute sounds cheap compared to the other instruments and the strings really could do with some reverb and a slightly slower attack. Not bad, but this mix needs some more work to really bring it out. NO
-
Heh, nice name you gave that DJP. Yeah it is obvious that this was made in fruity. Not a bad idea, but it could have been mixed better than this, at the moment is just sounds too raw. But then, perhaps a raw sound was the aim. Unfortunately, this mix doesn't add anything new as it goes along, so in the end it's just boring. NO

The only question in my mind is if the choir samples are in tune/in time. Sometimes they are, sometimes I'm not sure. Uuuuuuhhh... Oh what the hell. EDIT: I was gonna say yes, but then the ending just cut off like that. What the hell was that? NO
-
If you hate it, why send it to us? Too quiet, too short, doesn't stand out in any way. NO
-
This sounds good, enough for a yes definitely, BUT it was obvious to me that this sounded low quality. So I look at my winamp, and what do I see? 96kbps? Damn, I thought the minimum was 128! Well it's very noticeable. NO until this is re-encoded.
-
I'll come back to this one later, as I haven't heard the original. But I kept expecting drums to come in, and it just fades out without any warning. And it's too short. I guess it gets a NO anyway then.

OCR00967 - *YES* Super Metroid 'Zebesian Midnight' *FT*
Malcos replied to DarkCecil13's topic in Judges Decisions
I could hear some clipping at around 3 mins or so. I think that this mix really shines through from the second half. That Jazz bit with piano was superb, and the transition from that part was very well done. And a high quality, sorter mix would be nicer, although this is very good stuff. -
O...............kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy...... First of all, there's sooo much clicking in this mix it isn't even funny. Second of all it's mostly made of some crazy over-hectic drumbeat over the original, mixed with some very very very inappropriate voice samples. There is just lots of noise and stuff on everything, and it doesn't sound artistic. If only I could somehow make this NO even bigger.

*NO* Super Mario Sunshine 'Isle Delphino's Odd Illusions' *FT*
Malcos replied to analoq's topic in Judges Decisions
Very dynamic, detailed and intricate would be words to describe this remix. Are you sure this is for real? It's almost too well done! YES -
Good use of synths, good percussion, etc etc. I see no reason for this not to be posted. YES
-
I am the tie-breaker. This sounds really good. Unfortunately, it's essentially just the original with some new instruments. The sound is there, but I just can't let this pass........I can't. NO EDIT: don't we require 4 NOs or 4 YESs? -Prot
-
Ok, after finally finding the original on this page: http://www.therpgsoul.net/?section=accueil&page=article&id=73 I'm gonna give this a YES Just about passes it.

OCR00965 - *YES* Chrono Cross 'Dreamer' *FT*
Malcos replied to Protricity's topic in Judges Decisions
Erm, well despite having no idea what this mix is of, it sounds very nice indeed. YES -
Timing is off on various elements in this mix, particularly in the second half, (2.12 onwards). Sounds ok otherwise. But the timing really is quite bad. NO

OCR00962 - *YES* Super Mario Bros. 'Water Main'
Malcos replied to djpretzel's topic in Judges Decisions
This mix is kinda sparse at times, and my mind was hovering near the line. However, the impressive improv bit in the middle pushed my mind over that line. It was that part that saved this mix. YES -
Yeah heard some clipping in this mix. I love the arrangement, but unfortunately this is spoiled by an unimpressive piano patch. I recommend getting a better quality piano patch, and re-record at a slightly lower level to avoid the clipping. Then this would be a yes. However, as it stands now, NO
-
The recording is not so great. However, the arrangement is good, and it adds diversity to the site. I'm going to give it a YES Is this controversial? Well then spank me.
-
Overall I don't think this mix achieved it's purpose. The transitions are not as impressive as they make themselves out to be, and the ending just sounds slapped on. The main part of the mix is also repetitive. This mix is definitely missing something. NO

*NO* Super Mario Bros. 3 'I Feel Like I'm Going to Die'
Malcos replied to djpretzel's topic in Judges Decisions
The synths in this are well scary! The name for the mix is very appropriate! Unfortunately, this mix just kills itself in it's repetitive repetitiveness. NO -
*NO* Wonder Boy 3 'Wonder Island' *PRIORITY *
Malcos replied to djpretzel's topic in Judges Decisions
Interesting how this mix goes though many different drum kits at various points. The strings have a click at the beginning of some notes, which doesn't sound too hot. There are also a couple of times in this mix where you hear pops/clicks/gliches. The changing instrumentation doesn't change the fact that the notes themselves are still repeating. The ending of this mix is also very unsatisfying. NO -
*NO* Metal Gear Solid 2 'Introducing Metal Gear'
Malcos replied to djpretzel's topic in Judges Decisions
Oh how I wish this was longer. I like the synths, in fact I like everything. But it's too short, and the ending cuts out before it's fully faded out. NO Me want longer version.
