  1. Thanks. Sometimes topics die as soon as I post them/post in them. I always appreciate feedback. Is there any specific place where the background strings should be cut or quieted or something? Or are you just looking for more velocity expression in them? I guess I agree with whatever; it seems kind of tedious to have them playing constantly at the same volume. I've never been good at making stuff sound realistic. So, I guess I'll get to work on that soon. Knowing how slowly I work, it might be a challenge to finish on time. I'm using it as my Humanities project for the end of the year.
  2. I'll let my first MIDI do the talking. I give you exhibit A: http://www.freewebs.com/hhmidi/CrescentMoonFunk.mid
  3. Yes, I do think I suck. Your old stuff isn't terrible, zircon. Some people (including me) started off at the bottom of the dumpster. It IS pretty funny to listen to my first MIDIs though.
  4. Lemanhandla is a sort of medley containing OOT songs and TP songs thrown about while Tarm Ruins from OOS plays over and over in different ways. Why the title? The classic boss, Manhandla, was used at the end of Tarm Ruins. And I like lemons. I'll walk you through the remix. Please note that Tarm Ruins is the only OOS song used. I have just remixed it in different ways to reflect the feelings of each section of the 6th essence quest. 0:00 - Lost Woods (contains portions of OOT Lost Woods) 1:04 - Mysterious statues (contains portions of TP Spirit Spring) 1:43 - Mountaintop (contains portions of TP Hyrule Field) 2:51 - Sky darkens, creepy guy appears in bolt of lightning 3:08 - Ancient Ruins dungeon (contains portions of OOT Potion Shop) 4:07 - Manhandla (contains portions of TP Baboon Miniboss) 5:08 - Essence of Nature (contains portions of TP Hyrule Field and OOT Lost Woods) I am aware that the Essence of Nature section starts off rather abruptly and oddly. I'm not sure what happened, because it sounded ok before I saved it. But whatever. I'll work on that for the next version. I know there are some clipping problems at the end of the boss section, and I'll have to fix that too. I'm just sick of this by now and I need a small break. :3 So let me know what you think.
  5. Or just go to The Hylia*cough*
  6. I imagine it's something spicy. I'm working on a large multigame medley that includes or will include parts from the sad spirit spring, Hyrule Field, and the Zant baboon battle. Not that it's very good. WIP topic
  7. Updated. See first post for exact finishments and nonfinishments. I really suck at making percussion sound good. The judges think so, too, so I don't think it's your speakers. Does anyone have some good tips for making them sound realistic? Because I've exhausted myself trying out effects. The oboe may sound a little off during the Lost Woods theme, but I sort of meant it to be a bit disorienting, like the Lost Woods. I can give you more brass, though. The epic mountaintop has been concluded with the TP Hyrule Field theme. And here's a sample of what I'd like the mini story to be like. I think it'll help the listener understand the reason for jumping around in different themes. I'll probably add times to the story so people can read the part that goes with a specific piece of the music. The sky darkens, and Link enters a mysterious tower for shelter. He finds that it is far from abandoned; mummies and snakes lurk around every corner. Finishing off a batch of the monsters, he runs through a door and nearly falls into a pit of blackness. What is this? The song has ended abruptly! All he can do is wait until the music decides to continue creating the environment for him.
  8. -UNFINISHED- Mountainous Maze -UNFINISHED- This remix is centered around Oracle of Season's Tarm Ruins theme, but songs from Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess have been thrown in as well. I plan to write a little description walking the listener through the song when I'm finished with it. Basically, this remix will play around with the Tarm Ruins theme in several different ways, based on the areas you pass through during that quest: Complete Not complete 1. Upbeat Lost Woods (includes OOT Lost Woods and Forest Temple) 2. Mysterious Ruins (includes TP Spirit Spring) 3. Epic Mountaintop (includes TP Hyrule Field) 4. Arabianesque Dungeon (includes OOT Potion Shop) 5. Intense Boss Battle (may include TP Baboon Miniboss) I wanted to know how it was coming. I know, I'm always starting several remixes at the same time, but I had to get this idea out of my head. Any thoughts/critique/bashes? Darn it. It doesn't let me edit the topic title. :C
  9. Ah, if that's what you mean... I do plan to focus heavily on one theme in different sections. All I wanted to accomplish in the intro was to mix the two together. I'll certainly start the dark world off from that point in Kakariko Village later. At the moment I'm trying to create a faster-paced section, in which each theme will undergo more interpretation.
  10. Actually, the Dark World is there in pieces. Kakariko is being played with flute and the Dark World comes in with the brass instrument once in a while.
  11. Changes have been made. Intensely remixed old Kakariko has emerged. Volume has been reduced a bit because it seemed loud before. Links have been updated. Kakariko in Twilight Good change? Bad change? Enough change?
  12. I finally pulled myself away from the Wii long enough to make a new WIP. It is a mix of Kakariko Village from Twilight Princess and the Dark World and Kakariko Village from A Link to the Past. Kakariko in Twilight And just because someone always mentions the abrupt ending, IT'S NOT FINISHED. Now, any comments regarding anything besides the length are welcome.
  13. Does not. I don't really like the drum samples, but the arrangement is pretty good. We want the extended version when you're done. :3
  14. Drat. The temperature is going back up. I've only been able to wear my hoodie a couple times early in the morning. Well, I look forward to cooler weather. XXL seemed a bit small, but it's not a bad fit. I'm just the kind of person who prefers loose sleeves, rather than the kind that clamps around your wrist. Well, I'll see what I can do about that. If intense daily stretching doesn't work, maybe I'll tear/cut it a little. My hands need blood flow, after all. How am I supposed to play video games like this? Otherwise, very cool. I am satisfied.
  15. Bought a hoodie. If XXL doesn't fit me, I have a good excuse to gain weight. Just wondering, why do the hoodie shots look so fake?
  16. Same. My XL Nintendo hoodie is a tad small on me, so hopefully XXL will be good. I may buy a white t-shirt, too. Could always use some more of those.
  17. Sickening. Either XL or XXL for me. Probably XXL. Nice and comfortable. I might get a hoodie and a t-shirt, but definitely a hoodie.
  18. I mean the people outside of the project. There aren't any good remixers interested in joining.
  19. Too few remixers? Ugh. If only I had become a better mixer by the time this topic came around, I would join. Well, good luck finding replacements and getting ideas for your remixes. Probably because the only ones that like him are even uglier and more boring. XD
  20. But we're switching to vBulletin before these avatars get added. What's the point?
  21. I took a look, but it definitely wasn't quick. I saw that part about the vBulletin forums, but it hadn't hit me that this was one of those phpBB things. XD I'm just stupid. Pardon me for asking, but why on earth are we being forced to use these generalized avatars? I don't see how it's your problem if someone wants to use their own unique avatar, even if it is crappy. 32x32 also sucks.
  22. Ooh. Then how long will it take to upload them? I just based my stuff on what was available in the gallery.
  23. It would help if you guys had cooler subjects. All you're doing is pictures of random characters nobody cares about. Ok, I'm exaggerating...but only a little. Metroid Kirby (just in case you want something a little different) Mario Zelda Some of them may have been posted in here before...I can't be bothered to look through all the pages. X_X LT: Samus is fine, the rest don't look that good or aren't that cool.
  24. Double extra large hoodies? Nice. I'd get one, but it looks like you guys are being mean right now...maybe I'll wait until all this gets settled. >.> I'm interested, though. I could use another awesome advertising hoodie.
  25. dBpowerAmp didn't seem to work because it was a trial or something, and winamp said something similar on its site. FreeRip works fine, though. Thanks for the help. I'm all set.
