Atlus just announced Bomberman Land Touch!. It's not a traditional Bomberman game, per se, but it has classic Bomberman multiplayer over Nintendo WFC so you can play online.

The game is going to fucking rock. The E3 demo was so much fun. Right, I forgot you were there. Tell me, how does the gameplay fare when compared to the original? I'm guessing its pretty much the same right? It's almost identical, except they've now added the ability to switch babies on the fly, and they all have different powers. So Baby Peach, for example, can use her parasol to make Yoshi jump farther

Yeah, that's how Marvelous Interactive is approaching it. They're going to keep the old Harvest Moon, too, but this is sport of a spin-off series.
-
It's the "New Harvest Moon" series. It's American name is New Havest Moon: Rune Factory and it involves fighting monsters and more traditional RPG elements mixed in to the old HM formula. Everyone at the office has been checking out Luminous Arc. Whether or not Atlus decides to do it, I am willing ot bet it gets brought stateside by someone. Also, you can make your requests heard if you head over to the Atlus.com message boards. They have a qhole forum for game suggestions that fans would like to see localized. That's partially how Steambot Chronicles got brought over.

While on the subject of GAF, notice the new Famitsu scores. Mario Hoops got a somewhat disappointing 30/40. Might I go 2 for 2 on my E3 impressions (in that I said both Starfox and Mario Hoops weren't that good)? Time shall most certainly tell.

I would wait until the game is released before you make that conclusion, but I appreciate the sentiment

Yeah, it seems they changed it so now doing a barrel roll is a scribbling motion left or right on the touch screen. Which really complicates the controls all the more. The game is going to be a complete mess.

Maybe instead of being a Square-Enix and Nintendo whore you should check out other quality offerings like Contact and Deep Labyrinth. Maybe instead of being an Atlus whore, you should let people buy what they want. I'm not forcing anything on anyone. I'm broadening horizons.

Yeah, September 12th

It's fruity is what it is. Tingle? In his own game? That is so incredibly fruity...

He tests games. Fixed. I test games. There's no "or something" about it. It's awesome. That's a sick job. It is. The downside is that I'm not getting as much exercise as I would like, and I can't talk to anybody about what goes on in the office, and I really really want to.

You have to be a serious knob to think the controls were remotely good on either of these games. IT'S NOT CAPCOM, RUBE. The game is being developed by Grasshopper, the same people who did Killer 7, and published in the States by Atlus.

Cyber Nations: Google Maps based Browser Game
UnforgivingEdges replied to supremespleen's topic in General Discussion
By the way, I'm non-affiliated right now because I want to build up my strength without any scrutiny on me (it also helps that there's only 3 other nations on Iceland at the moment). I think I'm going to get in touch with some of my neighboring countries and try and starta little informal Icelandic alliance, since we're a rather weak bunch. -

In Water. Best ending ever.

You're really going to miss out then. Mario Galaxy was the best Wii title I played at E3. It's going to be a really fun game.

DS GOTY. The game freakin rocks. It plays just like Secret of Mana, complete with ring system.

Even if they don't, it's worth $50.

What you're seeing in that video is an item power up that barrel rolls you for a certain amount of time before going away. It is in no way user controlled. I didn't go to E3, and I haven't played Star Fox DS. However, looking at this video (lower left hand corner), the guy's left finger twitches on the L button when he does what looks like a barrel roll. If it is an item, is it one you collect, and then can use later? Is it something that's sitting in the air, and when you pass through it you automatically do a barrel roll? If it's a collectable item, then it is player controlled, in that you can decide when to do a barrel roll/use the item. I admit, I'm not a huge player of the Star Fox series. As such, I'm not very good at doing barrel rolls (especially on the SNES), but I haven't found much use for them (again, I'm probably wrong on that. I think it works as a dodge tactic, but I'm not sure). If it's an item that you can trigger, then there is at least some player control over it. At least for me, that'd be pretty good. It would make it easier to do a barrel roll. On the other hand, if the barrel roll does work as a dodging tactic, then I can see how it would be useful. Especially if you're given full control over how, when, and where you use it. But, in playing Star Fox Assualt, I seem to recall barrel rolls only lasting for a certain time as well. Sure, you could chain it together so that it would last longer, but it *seems* (based on videos, not actual gameplay) that the Star Fox Command game has roughly the same functionality. Please feel free to clarify any of this, or correct me. I'm looking forward to this game as well. Based on the videos and reviews I've seen (not reviews from anyone here, mostly in magazines or other sites), most people thought it was pretty good. There's room for improvement, but most thought it was pretty good. Thanks in advance if you can shed a little more detail in that area. Mouser X out. That video is misleading as his barrel rolling and L-pressing are a coincidence. If you watch the rest of the video, you'll notice that the L button is used to fire lasers (which is actually what the L button is for). The barrel roll maneuver is an item that you fly through, and once you fly through it, your ship barrel rolls for a certain amount of time, deflecting incoming enemy fire. Yup, sorry, typo. It's Tenchu DS.

It's too slow and controls too simply, and deviates so far from basketball, to be anything other than a curiosity or short-lived time-killer. I'm sure some people might like it, but it really feels like it's made for 3rd graders. What you're seeing in that video is an item power up that barrel rolls you for a certain amount of time before going away. It is in no way user controlled. That would have been nice, and redeemed the game in a lot of ways because the biggest problem is the control. Talking with the Nintendo guy at the DS booth at E3, he said that the biggest suggestion for improvement in the game that he kept hearing from show-goers was a non-touch screen control input. Whether Nintendo implements that remains to be seen (I desperately hope they do), but the E3 build featured touch-screen control only. It's the same reason I didn't like Mario Hoops; all touch-screen control, no alternate way to play the game.

I was looking forward to SFDS What's wrong with it? Almost all of it. First of all, the touch screen control destroys all of the twitchiness that Star Fox 64 was known for (and what made it so good). The control is overly sensitive and sometimes confused to the inputs you give it. Secondly, doing maneuvers like loops and u-turns now requires you to press a small icon ont he touch screen, taking out the skill of doing them, but also forcing you to stop controlling your arwing for however long it takes you to glance form the top screen to find the icon and press it. I should also mention that barrel rolling is now a thing of the past; it's been taken out as a maneuver. Lastly, the whole setup of the game is ludicrous. They've changed the mission/story based style of SF64 and turned SFDS into a pseudo-tactical RPG where you move each individual squadron's arwing around a map, positioning them to intercept enemies (which takes you into a battle sequence where you actually fly the damn ship). Each turn you're expected to manage the amount of fuel each arwing has, with the ultimate goal being to defeat the enemy's mothership. Levels have been reduced to such mundane goals as "fly through X number of rings" or "kill X number of enemies" for completion. If people thought Starfox Adventures was bad, they could at least ignore it because the gameplay was so different. Nintendo is taking the core of Star Fox 64 and removing everything that was good about it.
