  1. Best Final Fantasy since Final Fantasy Tactics (same scenarist, too). I am enjoying it immensely; the new gameplay design is a gret breath of fresh air for the RPG genre. This game is great so far, and it has renewed my faith in Square Enix. EDIT- A formal request for the use of spoiler tags where appropriate in this thread.
  2. After FF12, FF3 is going to be the most boring RPG I'd ever play. I was on the fence about passing on it for a while, but now I'm certain that missing FF3 will be no loss at all. Any reason why? Besides predisposition against FF in general? I guess my original statement is worded wrong. Because of PLAYING FF12, FF3 is going to be the most boring RPG I'd ever play. I'm just so done with the tediousness of random battles and strictly turn-based combat systems.

  4. It's a button-mashing dungeon romp. Good for what it is (especially good in multiplayer), but those expecting the next Secret of Mana are in for a huge disapoointment.
  5. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's a classic-feeling point and click adventure game from the 3rd person. Only knock on it is that it's on the short side (less than 10 hours), but the plot is good. If you end up liking it, check out Touch Detective, too. They're very similar.
  6. What is your shirt made out of, chain mail?
  7. I don't visit SA, so I guess I missed out on that ;P The rumor is that the translator is a Goon. And some Square-Enix nut jobs argued that their game is too hallow ground for a harmless reference. The flamewars that ensued was just ridiculous. That's an actual expression. The website wasn't the first place those words were put together.
  8. Why you should ignore the IGN score and buy Touch Detective anyway.
  9. I found it to be the opposite (at least collecting all the hidden medals). The regular game is cake, but it wasn't that fun.
  10. I just finished Part 1 of the first case. The game reminds me of the investigation parts of Phoenix Wright (in that you ask questions to the various characters while traveling around town, picking up clues, etc.) and the adventure/puzzle elements of Trace Memory. So far I haven't had much problem with the puzzle logic, and the writing is very very well done (I expected nothing less from Atlus). Some really humorous dialogue, and on top of that, the game is just so damn CUTE. I can definitely see adventure game fans liking this.
  11. I would hardly classify the Tony Hawk games as sports "sims".
  12. I wasn't referring to that. I was referring to Rexy's post about the new Crash game. Context.
  13. Again, IGN is a joke. I find Gamespot to be a far better barometer of game quality, as they usually are far tougher with their reviews, and games they give a 7 are usually very good.
  14. Frankly, their 3.0 for God Hand has completed their move into my view that their website is an utter joke. IGN review scores mean nothing to me anymore. God Hand is awesome. And Touch Detective is, too.
  15. Touch Detective came out today. Going over to pick it up tomorrow morning. Impressions then.
  16. Whoot! Do I get a prize? 8D I have heard about that a lot. But art direction from Mr. Toriyama makes me cry. DBZ type art was the only bad thing about Chrono Trigger. But looking at the screenshots again, it might be bearable. Hmmmmm... Well, if you like the aspect of exploration of SoA, DQ8 has it in spades. If you like an enormous overworld with vastly different locales, DQ8 has that as well. And if you like great characters, heart, and different transportation methods, DQ8 will satisfy. Anything from SoA that I forgot that you might wanna know?
  17. I've totally mentioned it once. I dunno... after Skies of Arcadia, I don't really see how I can play an RPG that isn't a disappointment in comparison. After all, how can you top Air Pirates? The answer is, you can't. You just can't. You win. (Though if you liked Skies of Arcadia, you should like Dragon Quest VIII. They share a lot of similarities, and in some cases, DQ8 is better.)
  18. I read a lot of reviews that marked LostMagic as poor. I looks like the controls were a good concept but they completely screwed it up. Man, it looked interesting too. DS needs more RPGs Repeat after me: Zelda, Phantom of the Hourglass. Zelda, Phantom of the Hourglass. Actually, there are good RPGs coming our way soon. I hear good thing about Magical Starsign whatever, although I haven't read much about it. And of course there's FF3. And Contact.. er, is that out already? I don't consider Zelda games to be RPGs. They're action/adventures. Contact is out. FF3 is out in November. Magical Starsign is October 24.
  19. It plays like an MMORPG in that you can see all the enemies on the field and when you go into battle, you only have control over skills and whatnot. Terry attacks automatically, and keeps attacking, until the battle is over. You can interuppt him by using the aforementioned skills and items and whatnot. The localization is great; lots of humor and whatnot, graphics are interesting: the screens are different. One shows Terry in a more "realistic" looking world while the other shows the professor in all his 16-bit sprite glory. The professor talks to you, the player, and gives you tasks, and then you turn around and guide Terry through his world to achieve those tasks. EDIT- Also, it's only $28.88 at Outpost.com
  20. Q1 2007 Upcoming releases everyone should keep their eye on: October 17- Contact October 19- Konductra October 24- Touch Detective, Magical Starsign October 31- Children of Mana November 6- Elite Beat Agents November 14- Yoshi's Island DS, Final Fantasy 3 Also, Fry's Electronics is having a huge sale this week only (ends on the 17th): Clubhouse Games is only $24.99 and Nintendogs Dalmation Edition is only $23.99. Toys R Us is having a sale from the 23rd to the 29th in which all games are under a buy 2 get 1 free policy (counts for any system and as far as I understand you can mix and match systems) And also speaking of Clubhouse Games, is anyone playing it? It's a great timekiller.
  21. Oh stop bitching. The game will be awesome despite the crappy music.
  22. I'd buy it if I had the money, seriously. I get paid Friday so we'll see. It's only $24.99 at Fry's Electronics. Win.
