FRUITY LOOPS 101 - PLEASE direct -ALL- FL questions here
BlueEnvy replied to starla's topic in Music Composition & Production
Im sure this has been covered before, but that list of subjects hasnt been posted yet so...is there somewhere I can download the full FL slicer? (i have FL 3 but when I go into the slicer it has, it tells me that it's just a demo and wont save) Oh, and is there a good description on using the slicer somewhere since i havent used it before. I read the tutorial in FL, but it doesnt really say much. Or maybe if someone wants to write a description on using it. thnx BlueEnvy -
I think I can help you, BlueEnvy. This is an idea that I got. I haven't been able to test it (the audio cables I have aren't long enough), but in theory, it should work. You'll have to perform the rip directly from gamecube. You'll need Gamecube, SSBM, the TV, and a CD-recorder or cassette recorder (with line in). Step 1: Power up gamecube, with the component cables attached to the television. Attach two controllers. Step 2: Go to the options menu and further to the sound effects bar. Step 3: Find the sound effect that is the right Kirby one. Step 4: Disconnect the audio cables from the television. Attach them to the CD-recorder or cassette recorder. Hit record. Step 5: Hit play on the console menu to play all the sounds you need. In theory, the sounds should get played and recorded directly onto the CD or tape, which can then be transferred easily into a computer. (For tapes, use your soundcard's Line-In port and re-record digitally from there. You may not get the best qualtiy, but a good audio editing program should be able to clean it up to a resonable state.) Alternatively, pop the CD into the CD-ROM drive and see what happens. There might be an accessable sound directory in the disc if the PC CD-ROM laser can read it. Afterall, you can play all the music and SFX from a menu screen. I hope this helps in your search! alas, i dont have a Gamecube does anyone think they'd be able to do it for me? i'd greatly appreciate it

OCR00955 - Wild Arms "Rosetta Refrain"
BlueEnvy replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Well, here is a great example of an amazing quality song that is under 3 minutes. Some people have mentioned it could have been longer. I absolutely disagree. In my opinion it seems longer than it really is for many things happen within it's time span that work so well (this trait seems to be apparent with many Marc Star remixs). Details: the beat is wonderfully catchy, and i love how the bass is in synch with the kick. The background guitar has a smooth pattern that fits well. The piece has the perfect amount of variation, and flows smoothly from each section. The piano breaks are nice, and planned well. The melody is astounding, with beatiful flutish sounds (what exactly are they). Harmonies are great. This whole piece is wonderful, i dont know how many times ive listened to it. Great work Marc, after listening to your four mixes, im begging for more. ~Nathan -
OCR01117 - Street Fighter Alpha 2 "Kasugano (Booty Mix)"

Well, once again Marc Star has delivered something brilliant and unique. Alright, im starting with the guitar samples. Amazing as always, it certainly sounds quite real, i can barely tell it's not recorded. All the samples are in fact very good, which is appreciated. The overall Sakura theme is definately brought out in this style very well, and the voice samples are fun. Many people have found them rather annoying, which i can see why since they are used a lot...but for some reason the more i listen to this song the less redundant they seem, and the more i like them. So, i think they fit nicely and give the song flavor. Lets see...the song as a whole is longer than any other mix you've done which can be taken as good and bad i think. The main pattern in this song is repeated a fair amount of times, maybe too much. There are breaks, which i must say were great, but the patterns keep the same structure and are usually added to the repetetive part after singled out. I'm not complaining about this but saying that it might not be welcomed by everyone. My opinion though is that the song could have been a little shorter, and not repeated as much. Overall, i like this one a lot, but prefer your other mixes... ~Nathan -
ok, since no one seems to know where to find a wav file of kirby saying hi, does anyone know of where to find any kirby game sounds then? Or atleast a search engine or site that can find stuff like that? because ive heard a fair amount of mixes with sounds from the actual games, and i cant find any sites that have that sort of stuff.

ooh you should play some stuff by marc star... how about on valentines day play rosettarefrain (by marc star), and this saturday something like the crono cross mix he did. That would be cool.

OCR01103 - Seiken Densetsu 3 "Within the Fable"
BlueEnvy replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
ahh you told me about making this one. Wonderful sort of celtic sounding rock, i like the beginning very much, which leads well into the flute solos. Percussion is good, but could be a little more convincing (im not complaining though ). Actually, most of all the sounds are wonderful. Especially the choral section. The style of this piece still retains your new age feel while adding a wonderful new feel to it. I agree with everyone else though that it couldve been a little longer. And one other thing that isnt really that big of a problem but mightve been considered is changing the background patterns. A few instruments, mainly the percussion keep the same consistent pattern throughout the whole song. Again, not that big of a deal. Overall, a wonderful piece that was a good surprise to listen to after hearing Frozen Dreams and This Heart. I cant wait to hear more from you ~BlueEnvy -

OCR00888 - Super Mario World "Super Mario's Sleigh Ride"
BlueEnvy replied to DarkCecil13's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Ahh, awesome Jazz medley that's pulled off excellently. One ever so slightly small problem: The parts were not always Exactly together, but i realize this was because it was all recorded....so actually it was integrated incredibly well. The arrangement is quite enjoyable, and has a great deal of variation. I love the way the Mario theme's are mixed in with Christmas music...makes me laugh. Great perfoming, the sax/trumpet/piano are wonderful. The tone of the trumpet is one thing however that coulve been improved. It sounded kinda bladdy (sp?) and didnt have a smooth clean sound. Although as Nex mentioned, this mightve been because of the mic distance. Im not sure, for i have never recorded my trumpet playing let alone any other playing. Anyway, great job, this is an amazingly fun Jazz piece that should be downloaded. -
haha, i like it. The kirby sound is nice, adds feel This song is a bit too repetetive...lacks change, and could definately use another section, maybe from another theme. Lets see, the subsection in this theme is my favorite (with the wrong notes on purpose...heheh). Overall a nice bouncy kirby techno song that kirby fans should check out.
