  1. Well I'm under the impression that competitions will stay in Community until they end. Larry, btw, competitions really need the casual visitor a LOT more than the ReMixing boards do - we have no other rallying point as a community.
  2. As long as we can keep current competitions on the GenDisc forum, this isn't an issue - I don't care where the repository ends up. However, if this is where current competitions must go, then it's over and done here...if DJP thinks that visibility will be better as a Workspace forum he's out of his mind - it's now INVISIBLE to the casual forumgoer.
  3. Potenchiladas. I've been playing a lot of non-chess board games recently though, and would love to start a tournament of some of those - but when I play them they're already in like tournament setting.
  4. My personal politics don't necessarily align with PETA, since I love me a good piece of meat several times a day, but I'm the kind of guy that wouldn't mind if they had their way as long as the protests ended and Boca Burgers were still around. I don't go to fast food restaurants for more reasons than just the stuff you read in Fast Food Nation, so I hope I'm helping their correctly-aimed but way-too-strongly-sought cause. That being said, isn't it in poor taste to be, ahem, "flaunting" Pamela Anderson like that? Kremlin Fried Chicken is better though.
  5. The title came first. Terminator theme vs. Summertime
  6. Ted Lupin. You got your Tonkses mixed. ALSO: Ted Lupin, son of a werewolf (Remus). Victoire Weasley, daughter of a semi-werewolf (Bill). Think it not ironic/planned?
  7. Hrm. Incomplete, probably, and from another source, with some additions: -Charity Burbage -Hedwig -Mad-Eye Moody -Bathilda Bagshot -Dobby -Pettigrew -Gregovitch -Grindelwald (?) -Lupin -Tonks -Colin Creevey -Fred Weasley -Crabbe -Snape -Voldemort -The muggle family of five (pg 439) -The goblins Voldemort kills in Gringotts -Ted Tonks -Dirk Cresswell -Gornuk -Scrimgeour
  8. Harry and Ron should have sent the Chudley Cannons to an unlikely decade-long dynasty first. One that makes Krum a sad panda again.
  9. lol I stop looking at the thread for a day and something happens! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connect6 I've been playing a LOT of that on www.littlegolem.net There's this one polish guy who's totally dicking me around - I'm 5-15 so far and he's accounted for 7 of those losses.
  10. DoD has 10 competitions, two of which go for two months instead of the requisite one. Maybe THAT'S what we really need to do - extend the deadlines for July, August, December, and January. I want to remind everyone that the forum was LOOOOOONG time coming. My first reaction WAS what happened - that everything would drop off - but after a while I believed that this separate forum could be a good thing...I was informed of the impending change sometime in September 2005 by GrayLightning. It came a good 16 months later.
  11. Defect to other website shall we? For the motherland! *Insert Zangief Here*
  12. 3-0 vs. dPaladin I have a 4:1 lead on Mike231 in our first set.
  13. This is NOT meant as a rip on anyone, especially not DJP, TO, judges, management, whatever. This is just me talking to myself aloud so that all of you can understand where I'm coming from. I've been thinking a lot about what I do online and where I've come and what I'm doing. At some point in their lives, everyone has to grow up. In my mind, it's always been that OCR is a place for adolescents and young adults, and at some point you just have to leave and grow up...This might be my time. I've been part of this community for 3.5 years now, and it wouldn't have been nearly that long had I not latched onto these competitions and done work in keeping them going. I come to OCR now to check on my tournaments, and that's about it. I had a busy last semester. Pep Band, increased radio station duties, hanging out with my friends, my large commitment to my girlfriend, schoolwork, working at my job, and playing football on weekends. Add to that the chess, emulation, and fighting tournament standings and I was a fucking rock. But now, the chess league died. Emulation and Fighting barely get anyone to join, and people aren't playing their matches. It's like I'm the only one making a commitment to this whole subforum, and it's not like I'm not ABLE to do it (of course I have the time for it), I just see NO POINT in continuing to beat a dead horse. Mew will take back the emulation tournament whenever he elects to, which is either August or September. I will run the current one until it's done and then probably go hands-off in terms of running the thing. I hope this one continues to be fun cause I love Mario Battle, but I hate having to recruit to make a tournament out of it. Arek has learned how to do the standings for his fighting game tournament, so nobody's really needed me to do anything for a while now. Chess is dead and those of you in the OCRCL can find competition elsewhere. This may have stemmed from the realignment in January. At least, I'm pretty sure that's where the OCRCL died. Those of you that might say "you changed the rules way too much," look at the Emu and Fighting tournaments. We haven't changed the rules for that since a long time ago, it's mostly the same format, and numbers are still declining. --- I'm tired of being the only one that's really all that interested in these tournaments. Therefore, I'm done.
  14. SUPER MARIO ALL-STARS BATTLE GAME TOURNAMENT The Sonic 2 tournament SUCKED! You guys didn't play any games, even when I was asking for matches all over the place. The deadline is over and I've decided to cancel that one and unilaterally choose the next tournament. Mike231 approved it, so it's actually not completely unilateral, but still, I wanted to do something exciting and hilarious and Mario Battle Game is it. We'll have some modified rules for this one, but it'll still make sense. ONE TO JOIN THE TOURNAMENT, post a reply in this thread CONTAINING YOUR AIM SCREEN NAME. If you don't have one, GET ONE! Then make a buddy group with all these people in it! 17. Alright, makes sense for you guys. I'm going to start a double elimination tournament now, but it'll have a registration phase.
  18. you probably will. If any of you are pissed off at me for saying that, redirect your anger to your bracket opponents. I predict a double-elimination tournament upcoming.
