  1. you know, if stevo (level 99) wasn't so damned busy at the moment, he'd cream himself to be able to do something this big for ocr.
  2. lulz that was the best post i've seen you do in ages. too bad you're fucking banned now, fgt.
  3. i just buy a lot of games when they come out. assassin's creed (with the tin and everything), after buying, playing, and selling it back, cost me a total of eight dollars. bioshock: seven. gtaiv: i actually earned three dollars because of rebates and credit from aforementioned used games. h3 cost me eleven dollars for the pack with the nice tin.
  4. haha b& so, pez, what's the verdict? do you think you're going to dual, or are you gonna try the vm deal? i talked with a friend of mine who's hardcore into VMs for just about everything - he says that there's a strong chance you'll have problems with the audio stack, because of osx's general monopolization of audio within the OS (according to him).
  5. i use cag constantly to find good prices on games. with the volume that i buy new stuff, it really helps.
  6. it's annoying but more realistic IMO.
  7. don't forget that you could get student discounts through a store like academic superstore, too.
  8. i was at my student teaching placement a little while ago, goofing around before a lesson with my 5th graders (trombone lesson, actually). i was noodling on the piano with the original mario theme - possibly the most well-known and recognizable game music theme in existance - and one of my kids turned and said, "hey, i recognize that! it's in super mario galaxy!" or something like that. and my heart broke. i hear you, ghettoflame. i hear you. edit: hey, dhsu, don't be a dick. he's got a good point.
  9. lol FANBOY i'm all about the punch. energy balls aren't worth nuthin, but if you can punch someone like that...that's awesome.
  10. yeah, there's a huge library of varied music. i was listening to the public radio station, and i definitely heard a track from my favorite soundtrack of all time, philip glass's 'koyanisquatsi'. not exactly generalized listening music =D
  11. just dual boot. is space THAT much of a limiter?
  12. i remember that article...i keep that copy each year just so i could keep that whole huge chart.
  13. i use itunes for the library, and winamp for quick-play stuff that isn't going in my library. never had a problem with it, and i own an ipod, a sansa mp3 player, and a few other assorted portable music players.
  14. that vb stuff looks really graphically not up to par with the rest of this site, IMO. that's another point. is this going to look like it got kludged onto the side of OCR, or is it possible to get it to be the same graphical design as the rest of the site?
  15. i agree. ourstage tends to be SOOO indie, and it means that there's not a lot of good hard rock/metal type stuff (which i like), or a significant amount of good rap. there is a few great tracks out there, though, i've got to admit that. i love just putting different genres on and listening to a ton of new music.
  16. hey, i ordered a day or two ago...when can i expect my copy? i've been very much looking forward to it =)
  17. i'll give it a shot tonight when i've got some time after GTA IV (it's ruining my life already)
  18. meaning that the overall score is now up to 9.95, right?
  19. i think that this would be the best way to really get it to work...else, it'd be going the way of Disciples of the Mix for guild wars, ClanOCR for halo, etc.
  20. so, have you started yet? what have you been able to work on?
  21. in almost every benchmark i've seen, 45nm = runs cooler, and the quads have a huge improvement in basic math calculations...like the ones used in most audio applications for rendering sound, reverb, delay, etc. the q6600 is a hot processor naturally - it runs a lot more than other quads because of it's (relatively) low l2 cache. it's worth spending a bit more on getting a q9450 or something is good. of course, based on what you're running right now, an e8400 would be well worth the cost, as well, since there aren't any audio programs out there that can utilize all four cores anyways. it's easy to overclock them on stock cooling to something like 3.3 or 3.4 without even trying...i've got a step lower, the e6850, and it's sitting at 3.3 with a shitty intel stock cooler, and it runs cooler than my e4500 did way back when.
