  1. fantastic track. the homecoming track is pretty solid as well =)
  2. kthnx. bs, you're a doll if you didn't mean that, what did you mean? there aren't very many ways to take your statement there. you want blind voting because you feel it levels the playing field - but the only thing it removes is the name. what are we supposed to think you meant? i doubt this just popped into your head, so i'm assuming that it's related to this tournament, and the last match you had pretty close as it was. names might have swung it either way - but i know at least one person voted for you because they felt your track was so much better than what they expected from you. so name recognition swings both ways. that one person might have swung it in your favor in a different matchup. how did yours turn out, heroe? mine's really, really different from what i was originally going to do, and i'm stretching the source a bit to get there, but i think it's going to turn out ok. i have to record for it, which is something i've never done for one of these compo mixes. i always synth everything, but i can't get the right sound otherwise. but then again, what exactly IS the right sound with a mixed-meter guitar-driven jazz/pop track?
  3. no worries. all couples have those conversations once and a while, married or no. i'll be on in an hour and a half or so (930pm EST) if anyone else wants to visit with me... =)
  4. exactly why it's useless. DoD works because a zillion people submit, and no one knows who submitted and who didn't. in a bracket, it'd be pretty obvious who did which. i mean, can't you pick Lemon's style out from, say, willrock? bs is pissed because he thinks people voted against him because they don't like him. i'm sure that others have the same feeling...but then you look at the brackets, and you realize that rozovian and aeroz both lost early. so, yeah. that doesn't stand at all. in any of these brackets. edit: also, superiorx, neblix didn't mean it when he said that he'd vote against me to spite me. not only would his brother kill him, i'd never give him computer help again. this would make him cry.
  5. hmm. 90s alt rock, complete with live guitar and bass? possibly. let's see if i can pull it off.
  6. immature? not at all. you can appreciate the art and story in a comic just like you can in a book. and if you're into games like dominion, puzzle strike, yomi, or flash duel, there are a good number of players on here as well. we play using the online interfaces for each game occasionally. you'd be surprised how many adults enjoy these hobbies - even more so than the 'target audience' - since they've got the disposable income to partake in them. just because people tell you that games are immature doesn't mean that they are. what's more immature - a guy who plays some board games with friends, or a sports nut who just sits and watches soccer all day, or a car jockey who sits and works on his car all the time and doesn't interact with the outside world? welcome to ocr =) make yourself at home. we don't bite. usually.
  7. is there recompense? is the movie for sale, or for free?
  8. don't feel bad. there's a lot of people who are almost afraid to say that someone's song isn't up to the level of a different one. we live in a competitive society, though - do you like songs more than others? sure you do. you're allowed to put your own songs into that category. it's important to be proud of what you create, and to feel that it is excellent. that'll drive you to succeed, i think. that said, success is relative anyways, so if you make music that you enjoy, that should be a reward in and of itself.
  9. username, zircon? there's a lot of items, yeah, but it's got roughly the ratio of items to champions that demigod has, so it's not that bad. zero, yeah, i was hosing minions left and right with the AoE thing urgot has. it was basically three on five there for a bit, but they were dumb and kept racking up deaths by charging in without support and getting dicked over. i was up to 45% lifesteal at that point, so i basically just sat there and didn't move for minutes at a time.
  10. the artist has an opinion, too. for example, hylian voted for mine last round. i also voted for mine. we both voted for what we felt was the better track. does that mean that hylian's track wasn't good, or that he's a terrible musician, or that i'm a terrible person for not voting for his, or that he eats kitty cats in stew on wednesday nights? nope. i should confess that i have not voted against myself yet, including last year when i lost to txai. i felt that my track was a better arrangement, so i stood by my guns. still lost badly, but that's the voting community for you =) my production was pretty bad, which is why i lost a lot of votes, but i've already discussed my voting beliefs earlier and i don't feel like rehashing that. if hylian's track had been as good as his track from the previous matchup, i'd have voted for him. his arrangement there was way better than mine was in the third round...but that's the tournament for you. i DO have an issue with artists voting for theirs just to cancel out the other person's vote (bs). if you legitimately feel yours is better, great! if you're just being an ass because you don't know how else to be, don't vote.
  11. i think the idea was that the person clearly was almost there and just needed a bump to get over the hump. zircon helped me with my super dodge ball track several years ago with the same thing. also, in4 racist ban.
  12. zero that 80m game we did was absolutely epic. you were what, 40-10-25 or something? too bad i sucked so hardcore before level 18.
  13. forgot about that. i think that was related to how annoying it was for people to complain that their track was too hard and they couldn't finish it after three months.
  14. not true, fred. i went slow and low for my last two songs, and still won. not sure what style i'll roll with for this last song, but we'll see.
  15. exactly my point, crowbar. i didn't say that the games weren't fun - they were! they had tons of issues, though, that unbalanced them and made them way less fun than they could have been. but yeah, they phoned in new vegas.
  16. i agree with this. you can always expect a studio to put their mark on an IP, which is why awesome games don't always come from developers with the best track record, and vice versa. look what obsidian is known for. KOTOR 2 is considered by most who played the game without beer (SW) goggles to be a real letdown after the excellent initial entry in the series. the NWN games, while doing decent in critical reviews and being fun to play, were marred by bugs and inconsistent design, and barely sold within parameters for being such a big-name IP. alpha protocol was a commercial and critical failure, regardless of what a few vocal people on these forums seem to think. new vegas has the Fallout IP on it, and it was criticized for massive bugs that persisted from Fallout 3 - as in, they didn't fix the bugs they already knew about - and for just being more of the same. Dungeon Siege III is getting similar criticism, for uninspired design that's clearly derivative of a prior game (in this case, DII). i see a troublesome pattern here. I see game after game handed to them - only one is their own IP, the rest were given to them to handle - where uninspired design and major bugs are the defining characteristics of each game. the poor job on New Vegas and DS3 are the two that are most troublesome to me - these are established IPs where the game functioned either as a large expansion pack with no new engine improvements or bug fixes (New Vegas) or functioned as a shiny layer of graphics over a tired gameplay mechanic. these are huge, huge IPs, people - Fallout's probably top five among PC games, and the DS series (on PC and consoles) has sold millions of copies doing their own unique form of dungeon crawling. one goes the way of shiny graphics and crappy gameplay, the other keeps the gameplay and dated visuals someone else already did and just regurgitates some more "kill six rad roaches" design from the previous five or six entries in the Fallout 3 world. and you folks want obsidian - a developer that has always been primarily a PC developer - to do something with CT, one of the most venerated games in history? a game that is lauded for single-handedly introducing the importance of story, of depth of character, of creative continuity, to the RPG world? to the console world? sorry. i'll pass. at least until they show that they can do something great. also, before someone points out that fallout and NWN are technically obsidian's IPs because Black Isles studios did them initially, it's not the same thing. not when a lot of the original development crew wasn't there, and they were under new leadership. not the same at all.
  17. i think he's referring to the fact that it's rare for console games to have bugs that make them crash, whereas on PC it's relatively common.
  18. good to see you're not stuffing the ballot box over something completely inconsequential. that's the spirit.
  19. that'd be awesome, but honestly even if i lose this round i'm still happy with the results. i was 3rd of 16 last time - being 4th of 32 is even better, really.
  20. that makes more sense. excellent example. the new Tactics Ogre is similar to that.
  21. this post makes no sense. you don't have a 360 because games with new game + freak you out or something? all, what, five of them? nooooo sense.
  22. i just started playing this game. also, i am bad - i often lose beginner fights versus bots. i would love to play with humans who talk on skype or something. i like tanks and spikers. cho-gath, urgot, and the armadillo are up there for me in terms of enjoyability. my username is prophetikmusic.
