it sounded like a normal cymbal roll to me, not a reversed cymbal crash or hit. -

I want to build you a computer

400$ is a tough number, simply because of how pricing works with me. i charge 50$ for system testing and OS installation, and 10% of the parts for a handling and assembly fee. for a big system, 50$ is piecemeal, but for a smaller system, 50$ is a major chunk of change. you'd be looking at roughly 325$ for parts max, which is a very, very minimal amount. for 400$ plus shipping, i could do a tri-core AM3 system (3.1ghz, 3 cores) with 4gb of RAM, 500gb HDD, dvd burner, and basic integrated graphics. i don't like AMD systems, but that's all that's available in this price range. the graphics are next to nothing, but most casual internet games are flash- or silverlight-based, which is dependent on the CPU and not graphics card, so you should be mostly fine for that kind of stuff. you can always add a cheap graphics card in for under 50$, just plug and chug and install the drivers. i'll pm you some more information. -
Mega Man: The Grand Robot Master Remix Battle 2011

i've actually never done a sax mix for any of these. i've never recorded anything for these competitions, period. first time heroe, your track is pretty fun to listen to =) it needs way more balls, though, particularly in the intro. add some more juice to the intro and i'm in lurve. you did so much creative stuff with the melody itself, and your use of effects as a whole was really creative and varied for the most part, i thought. dress it up and have blind or zircon show you how to add the bump to it, and you've got a really spectacular song. for those wondering, the guitar isn't live. it's from BGC's acoustic revolutions pack...and it was in 4/4 and not in the right key, and didn't include some of the chords that i needed, hence why it doesn't sound right all the time. it did a decent job for what i was asking of it, though, so i was pretty happy. -

i submitted my track this morning. 7/8, jazz/pop, managed to use BGC's acoustic revolutions pack even though it's not the right meter OR key. huzzah for melodyne editor's ability to change minor chords to major =) i'm excited for this round. this isn't necessarily the best i possibly could have done, but i approached this totally differently than in the past for this stuff. instead of asking myself what the best genre and chord progression was for the track, i chose the oddest genre i could think of and wrote most of the chords before i started getting the melody worked in. i only added one chord - that pesky major III in bubble man that you just can't get around - to what i had originally already written. for coming to this track in such a bass-ackwards kind of way, i think it turned out pretty decent. -
Are Obsidian making a new Chrono Trigger?
prophetik music replied to lazygecko's topic in General Discussion
the multiple endings thing was supposed to encourage the use of the New Game+ option, particularly since it was so easy to get most of them. now, chrono cross's multiple endings were really hard, imo, to get. i worked for days to get the best ending. -

you didn't get the good ending, brandon. go watch youtube. it's basically impossible to get the good ending if you don't know what to do when, since there's no on-screen cues, but the good ending is significantly better than that one. -

ffx2 is considered by most japanese game writers and reviewers to be one of the better jrpgs to have ever been released. i think famitsu has it listed in the mid-30s all-time among any game, ever. maybe 32? i forget. i did a little research on it for a writeup a did a while back. it's got a high metacritic rating, too. that's almost more notable, showing that it was well-received in all three major theaters of the gaming world, unlike some other high-scoring games that weren't ever reviewed overseas. i got the information off of wikipedia, so i'm sure it's still there since it was referenced and supported. -

kthnx. bs, you're a doll if you didn't mean that, what did you mean? there aren't very many ways to take your statement there. you want blind voting because you feel it levels the playing field - but the only thing it removes is the name. what are we supposed to think you meant? i doubt this just popped into your head, so i'm assuming that it's related to this tournament, and the last match you had pretty close as it was. names might have swung it either way - but i know at least one person voted for you because they felt your track was so much better than what they expected from you. so name recognition swings both ways. that one person might have swung it in your favor in a different matchup. how did yours turn out, heroe? mine's really, really different from what i was originally going to do, and i'm stretching the source a bit to get there, but i think it's going to turn out ok. i have to record for it, which is something i've never done for one of these compo mixes. i always synth everything, but i can't get the right sound otherwise. but then again, what exactly IS the right sound with a mixed-meter guitar-driven jazz/pop track? -

exactly why it's useless. DoD works because a zillion people submit, and no one knows who submitted and who didn't. in a bracket, it'd be pretty obvious who did which. i mean, can't you pick Lemon's style out from, say, willrock? bs is pissed because he thinks people voted against him because they don't like him. i'm sure that others have the same feeling...but then you look at the brackets, and you realize that rozovian and aeroz both lost early. so, yeah. that doesn't stand at all. in any of these brackets. edit: also, superiorx, neblix didn't mean it when he said that he'd vote against me to spite me. not only would his brother kill him, i'd never give him computer help again. this would make him cry. -

The Newbie Introduction Thread: Come on in and say hello!

immature? not at all. you can appreciate the art and story in a comic just like you can in a book. and if you're into games like dominion, puzzle strike, yomi, or flash duel, there are a good number of players on here as well. we play using the online interfaces for each game occasionally. you'd be surprised how many adults enjoy these hobbies - even more so than the 'target audience' - since they've got the disposable income to partake in them. just because people tell you that games are immature doesn't mean that they are. what's more immature - a guy who plays some board games with friends, or a sports nut who just sits and watches soccer all day, or a car jockey who sits and works on his car all the time and doesn't interact with the outside world? welcome to ocr =) make yourself at home. we don't bite. usually. -

don't feel bad. there's a lot of people who are almost afraid to say that someone's song isn't up to the level of a different one. we live in a competitive society, though - do you like songs more than others? sure you do. you're allowed to put your own songs into that category. it's important to be proud of what you create, and to feel that it is excellent. that'll drive you to succeed, i think. that said, success is relative anyways, so if you make music that you enjoy, that should be a reward in and of itself.
