  1. I feel like raving, with lots of j-poppy japanese girls! Goddamn love that rhodes part at 1:30, got the groove going.

The mastering is good, I recognise that kit though and never really liked the kick to it, very flat and dry. My only recomendation would be to back the kick with another sample or lace the kit with a parametric EQ, but thats just picky.

Haven't heard of you in a while rellik, good to see you still working hard. Game soundtrack work rocks :D.

edit - Damn you RKelly! (Ross), already suggesting the kick you little scamp. Whilst I'm editing, I didn't find the lead too resonating or overbearing at all, come to think of it it's what I expect of a chip lead.

  2. it remains my favorite n64 game for good reason

Wasn't there supposed to be a sequel, the game had slipped my mind but it's a crime to let it go, uberly original fantastic idea. I keep thinking it got ported to PS1 at one point.

One soundtrack that sticks to mind is from Operation Winback, later ported to PS2. Stuck in my mind straight away, very cool tense action/spy music. Can't for the life of me find the soundtrack to download though. Body Harvest had a decent soundtrack aswell, though repetious with not many songs for moments, what was there was fantastic for atmosphere. Come to think of it, Body Harvest would make a great Wii game.

  3. I definately remember hearing this on the wip boards or something.

Reading the reviews, I think people are bashing this for the wrong reasons. Pretty long at the start and repetitive, other things perhaps could've happened in the background, piano starts getting to me after a while. But after that it totally pulls through into the Max Payne theme where I think "man that sounds like a pretty awesome version for a Max Payne 3". The whole solemn, disturbing feeling through the vocals and the harmony is the twinkle here, giving the impression that this is remixed better than initially percieved.

I like this for standing out and being gutsy, and keeping to its nature. Thank god the judges passed it, that's always the 'you'll never know' aspect.

  4. Just stick a load of Wii points in the Wii package, done, VC tour!

Each console is doing the same thing now, bloody copying each other all the time. Now they have to depend on killer apps and software, the Wii is the only console that can successfully dodge this by just imagining what else you can plug into the bottom of that Wiimote.

Still, 'Home' sounds like an intruiging idea for the PS3. The whole world can visit a virtual E3 or something like that, it's scary though, I wonder if the PS4 will want my mind, not just my body :S. Im still unconvinced, home seems like a suped up 3D internet and quite frankly what is the use of that besides just looking pretty, what a waste of development time. People will eat it up but its not impressive.

  5. Very cool, this seems like it could go on for plenty minutes more, time just flew by. Still, kinda loops nicely! Love those rhythmic pads, they fit with the drums really well. Slightly abrasive, but this mix is smoooooth. Have to disagree about the section at 1:31, it's an awesome little section, love that rhythm.

  6. I really liked LoI for some reason, it still felt like a Castlevania game to me. Crap levels but the music and gameplay had me hooked, like fighting the giant stone golem, to hearing Leon's theme the first time, to playing as the secret tiny pumpkin man..thing! I really want CoD but my PS2 is fucked. Though, hearing that it's better than LoI, how can I complain?

  7. Shame on people, didn't everyone used to be an orchestral whore at some point?

Contrary on what others think, this gave me a great sensation of my own experience in the game. The way the instruments are handled in the production is what warmed me, very soft and gentle tone. Samples blend with great effect. Around 2:45, the brass was suddenly very dry sounding, I felt this broke from the mood a bit :( giving a sort of, cheesy TV effect if you know what I mean. That's my only down side to this song.

The arrangement is certainly endeering, very cinematically brought forward, good enough for a quality anime if I might say. Nicely brought together, emotion and atmosphere is definately limelighted.

    Nice one!

  8. I'm not actually a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean, I sort of know the music a little. Thought I'd check this out since I saw your goldeneye mix .

This is very very good! Tight mastering altogether. Trance isn't my style, but this is better than alot of the trance mixes I've heard on OC. Some of these synths are great, your pallete really works well together.

I have no complaints really, besides the song being JUST A LITTLE cheesy haha, I'm sure someone else can dig one up though :P.

  9. I was expecting some noob, but you're pretty good!

The start is brilliant, seriously gave me a Resident Evil 4 vibe, which is why im pleading you for the intro to have some sort of awesome bongo/conga loop, just a personal idea, don't take it serious at all if you don't wanna.

The synth that enters around 0:37 in, sounds a little raw and bland, maybe it's fine, but the lack of high end on the synths detracts from the vibe to me.

1:03 is pretty awesome, slick bass line, though I'd prefer a bit more expression on the brass, maybe a bit more accompanyment for them, just to beef things up a little. The next section is perfect though, whereever it's meant to be placed in the song .

If I can encourage you, I think it'd help a great deal if you layered more beats over the ones already there. Just for a little more punch.

Can't wait to hear an update man. It's so close to sounding as if it were in an actual bond game from the PS2 or something :D.

  10. Thanks for the quick replies!

Im sorry if there is some clipping in the filtered sections, my mixing headphones broke last week and currently Im just using ok speakers :(.

Haha im sure the vocals might bug you a little skrypynk, since you're an FL Wizard! I would've loved to have used something else (hey if you know of any good sites with free vocal wavs or mp3's, id love to know!), this was fast work and just a bit of fun.

Cheers avaris, I should've thought more about the melodies so they come together as, you say, a defined melody, that would've been much cooler. You seem to be storming on OC! Hope to see some good stuff from you .

  11. Been listening to this alot lately, only fair to comment :P.

Very cool as usual, im loving the more ambient oriented sections of this song. The last section of the song with that very lush guitar sound is really great. For a 5/4 piece, the bass has a wicked progression, and everything is smooth.

    Nice one sgx.

  12. Good atmosphere! I wasn't too keen on it at first, but it is quite well done. The first minute starts off great, very enticing, but the second minute just falls apart for me, just trailing off ever so slowly. The last melody introduced could've worked really well into the second minute, I thought it was odd to finish on a new melody. This is nice though, I think a remix in this style would be pretty sweet :)

    As for advice...

The big thing I'd say to put in here is some semblance of a melody. If this just had a slow moving interchanging melody floating throughout the song, I'd think we'd have ourselves a keeper.

I think that's pretty good advice .

  13. I think this sounds better, can't remember the old version well. But, this song gives me a smile and I'm glad I can download it now :D. Don't worry about the dynamics, I like this how it is.

Haha, the part at 3:34 makes think some other song is on till the sax kicks back in, love this section.

Is there an addition of a rhodes in the fourth minute? It supports some really lovely harmony. The dynamics of this section are definately alot fuller than previously.

Good job my man, lets slow dance till I'm dribbling down your back 8O.
