Um, was that supposed to be rhetorical? I've never heard about Gameboy shortages before. And why are you mentioning two unrelated electronic devices? We're talking about handheld gaming consoles here. Furthermore, maybe your retort would be more effective if you could cite a few examples of shortages of DS-related handhelds. I've never heard of that problem before, either. The only console that was hard to obtain in recent memory was the Wii.
It was rhetorical. And if you're taking offense, oh please forgive me, it was a joke, sorry it wasn't funny.
What about the 360? Is that better? The thing was sold out, at least at launch.
-
(If ultimately true...)There goes what little hope I had of Killer Instinct being re-released via the Arcade
I'dve bought a used 360 just for that.
At least Perfect Dark and Banjo Kazooie got remastered. The former gave me nausea for some reason.
-
Sure, why not. The Damned seems to be thinking along the same lines as me, so I'm not sure.
Ever heard of the Gameboy? Or the iPhone? Or the iPad?
If this thing is sold out for a year or so, I'm not going to be heart broken. Until I see a 2D Mario game, Mario Kart, a Metroid NOT made by Sakamoto, I'll hold off. At least within a year's time frame a few decent games will be out (just my opinion, you don't have to like it). And I refuse to plunk down $250 dollars on this thing until I can see the 3D effect for myself.

Just played the game @ Best Buy, and I wasn't impressed. A little bit disappointed really.

I honestly can't say I'm surprised by this, given Rare's track record since being with Microsoft.
Considering that this came from 4Chan, I would take this with a heaping grain of salt.
I will say this though, if anybody at Rare REALLY thinks that Kinect Sports 2 is going to be a success, they might as well start looking for jobs elsewhere.

Some of his thoughts were good. But honestly, he got on his high horse a bit too much.

Anyone remember that Dead or Alive clip that had them fighting in a pit with Ridley flying around, and then at the end, Samus pops out in her morphball mode and then it fades to white?
Sorry guys.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-01-24-samus-not-playable-in-dead-or-alive-3ds
It would have been cool, but I guess Samus only throws down in Smash Bros.
I contest that she probably would have started a monologue and or cried about her maternal/daddy issues again...

Even not being game related, the song is great. Definitely deserved an award, more so than "Love the Way you lie". So sick of hearing that song on the radio...

the first three guitar hero's were ok, but the third one pissed me off when they made through the fire and flames that hard to play, seriously its not that hard even on the real thing. not to mention when did synth count as a guitar too? they're not children of bodom after all.
I honestly hate Dragonforce. I enjoyed that song, but not much else. The sound of Metallica and Journey together is not a good combination, let alone tolerable for long. I've heard they suck LIVE.

hoops my b
but seriously thats just as many as street fighter they're not exactly shortchanging people on content
Whoops! It HAS been a while since I checked up on the roster (I was looking at the webpage, quite some some time ago). Sorry about that. Like I said, I'm just not excited over the roster. I just kinda lost interest with Capcom games after the whole RE 5 Multiplayer DLC garbage some time ago.
-
After seeing most of the character roster, I lost interest, including the lack there of. I know that it's a new engine, so they might not be able to put as many on disc. But I don't doubt that they'll be cramming DLC down everybody's throats who buy this game, but THEN release SUPER Marvel VS Capcom 3 with those said characters in it.

Good riddance. In the meantime, read this... I think this explains quite a bit.

The idea here is that nobody wants bad sushi, no matter how much they want sushi. When [anybody] said that they wanted new, exciting things from Nintendo, they did not mean a forty hour, badly written, badly acted fanfic that takes their favorite character and sends them in a baffling new direction.
Imagine if somebody said that they wanted a new, fresh Mario game, and Nintendo responded by releasing a Mario game with 80 hours of cutscenes explaining how Mario is actually a misanthropic chauvinist and regularly rapes everything you know and love.
I don't think anybody would try to justify that saying well, what if that's what Miyamoto wanted all along???
When they interviewed Miyamoto after Mario Galaxy 2 (I think it was 2), he talked about how one of the developers had put story into the game, after he was told to take it out. The guy didn't listen and explained how it's important how the story "resonates" with the player.
While the story wasn't THAT intrusive, this doesn't bode well for future Mario/Nintendo games. Sounds like they want to shove more story into their games. Too bad they don't seem to have the talent for it.

I vividly remember this letter in Nintendo Power.
-
As opposed to being stuck with even lazier ports of lamer games and 1 dollar garbage ware?
Not if you can shop smart. I've given up trying to justify Nintendo's actions anymore.
-
I'll stick with my iPod touch. I already lost interest in the 3DS after seeing the typical lazy Nintendo ports, or half games (Pilotwings Resort).

I thought Jack Kasier started this thread....

I'm just going to wait for zircon to post, since I'm in class and none of you are capable of evaluating hypotheticals. By making an argument variable based, you are presenting a logical argument without personal bias; for instance, using a specific idea or group of ideas (Mario games, for instance) introduced bias, because you may feel like it's wrong to use miyamoto's work. Making all possible derivatives "x" and assuming that x has a finite value allows you to display the same logical data In a non-biased way.
Posting from an iPod, so sorry for spelling / formatting issues.
Fail. The fact that you're bothering with this while IN class, obviously shows your lack of commitment to your education. You're wasting your time, the teacher's time and your money. I may be getting off the subject, but I know if I went through college again, I wouldn't be wasting my time debating with people I don't know on the net.

So in short, games are expensive, and nothing will change it. Even if you get a bunch of people to get "active" over it. Game companies are now going into a much larger shift, control over their product, as that's been touched on in this thread. And knowing how greedy some companies are, expect it to get worse. Internet boycotts? That's free advertising, and doesn't help.
The basic way to make a company RETRACT, and to change, is simply with your wallet. Heck, when Blizzard tried to instill on their Battle Net accounts would have to have your REAL NAME on them, guess what people did? They canceled pre-orders, they cancelled their WoW accounts. They didn't talk about their upcoming games. They didn't threaten, they just did it.
Wait, I thought people were still talking about the economics of games, not about who insulted what. Guess I'm late to the party as usual...
I haven't seen such a flame war in, well, Nekofrog, when's the last time we saw one like this? You've been here longer than I have.

Honestly, I think I'm just sick of the power creep that Jedi got. They went from "can move fighters, with difficulty" to "WHEEE LET'S FLING ARMADAS!"
Also, speaking from the point of view of someone who's actually trained some in swordsmanship: that reverse-grip he uses is DUMB. It's a terrible stance for offensive maneuvers and is nothing but a liability. Dual-wielding reverse-grip is even worse.
It looked cool to Lucasarts....

Nice! Every time I see a DKCR speed run I can't help but wonder why new Sonic games can't be more like this...
Because Sega is out of ideas, and doesn't want to do what the fans AND regular people want. Kinda summarizes the whole industry.
-
Impressive. Not as huge as the Purchase Brothers video, but still pretty good.
-
I withdraw my thoughts on Pilotwings Resort. From the sound of it right now (could be wrong) there's only three types of flight. No birdman from the sound of it, or no parachuting or the plethora of things they had in either the Super NES or N64 games. If they think $40 bucks is worth that, they're nuts. And even lazier than I thought.

Though if I recall correctly, the original DS's launch library was pretty piss poor too.
I didn't really want anything on the DS till the Advance Wars DS game.
New Super Mario Bros. for me honestly. But there was a few other games I don't remember that were made it worth owning.

I'm just meh over the announcement of this new 3D Mario game. If its another find all the stars and Bowser is a wuss fights I'll pass.
The Zelda trailer was okay, but I get the vibe of it being another Ocarina all over again.
