  1. Seeing as how FFIV on DS is my first real experience since I only played about 15 hours of FFVII, I'd say the storyline is absolutely key. Just make sure to not play into the cliche of FF storylines. Of course, you can't avoid the good vs. evil stuff, but you take ones like Chrono Trigger, SPOILER ALERT

......where you think Magus is your threat of raising up Lavos to help rule the earth, but actually trying to destroy him, was a good twist.

And as far as weapon classes go, make it interesting, but don't get too deep with it. KOTOR II was too in depth for me to even want to continue playing. Not to mention that annoying first few hours playing as that droid on that abandoned mining station.

  2. For a game that was in the works for a considerable amount of time, and then lost a publisher, and Activision sensing the couldn't whore it out like Guitar Hero, Crash Bandicoot, and Spyro, and still find a publisher, and get what any developer would want, more time to develop and polish the game, I'd say that's pretty good.

I'm sure it'll be a solid game once it's released.

Such a shame that Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver didn't participate in voice work for the game.

  3. Wat

You can get DC's on ebay for like $40, with games.

Well, my sister is the one who went through the place, along with her husband. She couldn't remember the exact price of it. But I think it was refurbished, along with a few extras, at least that's what she could remember.

If I ever get the chance, I'll probably tour it myself, just to see what they have, and if they have reasonable prices.

So can you buy it off ebay? Or do I have to get into an auction?

Every time I had tried to go through ebay into an auction, I always lost.

  4. McVann's is another used place out here but their prices are ASTRONOMICALLY unfair. They have the first Lufia which I want, but they want like $80 for it. BOF1 there is $60. FF2 is $70.

    F McVann's.

I heard of McVann's. There's a place at Florence Mall in KY that specializes in selling used classic games. Atari, Dreamcast, you name it. And not only that, they also have the consoles REFURBISHED, fully functional.

I have yet to go back to visit my relatives there in Ohio, so I might stop by that place and check it out. The dreamcast they had was going for 80 bucks. Not bad for a refurbished console!

  5. I'm definitely going to rent it once it's out. I've been really wanting to try it.

Hopefully, this is the turn for the Wii to start having good games come out on a regular basis again.

Yeah, not getting my hopes THAT high...

  6. Okay, so about two years ago, I had gotten a bad case of food poisoning for two weeks (with constant bathroom visits, you know what I mean), and I went from around 200 to about 179, but I felt like I was working out decently then (about two to three times a week).

Over that time frame, I tried to keep a workout routine, and now, with having my own place, nearly no energy from work, I've not been going to the gym as regularly as I should, but next week, that changes. Now, I'm going to start back on my routine of workouts, with Wii Fit as a regime in the morning (stretches should help me quite a bit I'd say), probably some strength training (I'm not going in to become a muscle massed goon, being toned is good enough for me). And maybe some workouts on Wii Fit in the evening after work, only if I can't get to the gym that day.

My weight is probably at 193 right now. I'd like to get back to at least 180-ish. 186 was my average, and that's fine by me. I may not be able to get back that low, mostly because when I was 12, my dad took me to the gym and trained me. I have some "fairly" thick upper legs, mostly from those leg workouts from then, but I'd mostly say genetics, either way, doesn't bother me. I'll probably work my legs out a little, mostly to tone them, but won't over do it, I don't want huge thighs (sounds incredibly gay I know). My calves do need some work, they're not that toned.

    In short...

    Weight right now.....194

Weight goal..........186, if I can just tone up, and still be at my weight, that won't bother me.

Workout routine ... to get to the gym either in the morning or after work.

do some walking/lite jogging to get my metabolism up again

back to Wii Fit. And stick with it longer than 4 months.

    eat better, cut the soda,

divide amount of food intake each day, more meals, smaller portions.

Hopeful results.... a flatter stomach, which'll take lots of work

    more endurance

a more toned look. Not looking to be huge, just toned.

I'll try to post my results each week via Wii Fit's scaling (since I don't have a weight scale right now). No, I won't be using BMI, that's not accurate at all.

And by the way, has anybody used any of those dietary supplements like Hydroxycut? Or something safer than that, that won't mess my body up or cost a ton of money?

I'll probably lose weight the 'ol fashioned way, work it off.

  7. Well, the year has just started, we can't really say how it'll turn out for the time being. But I will agree, that we may not see a whole lot of BIG titles at the start, or through midway.

Granted, we've got Chronicles of Riddick, Ghostbusters, The Conduit, Punch Out, Street Fighter IV, Halo 3: ODST, and others coming out this year...

  8. think I went off-topic a bit, but I do think there should be a distinction between regular xbonks games and xbla games.

That's because there is. Most XBLA games are becoming the better thing to buy than plunking down 60 bucks for a game that STILL has to have a patch after it's been released. I'm so sick of these games coming out unpolished, with many a bug that hurts the game itself. Granted, they can't find them all, I understand that, but there's no excuse for them to keep doing this, especially when it's a recurring thing.

Not to mention most of the 60 dollar games are getting to where I don't even want to buy them, let alone play them. Granted, I reserved Street Fighter IV, and it'll be my first time really getting into Street Fighter (I did DL SFII T HD REMIX), and I want to play Riddick Chronicles of Dark Athena, and Skate II, but after Outrun Arcade (aka Outrun 2 SP) comes out for XBOX Arcade, I'm totally set for the rest of the year on the 360, barring anything interesting coming out, which will more than likely happen.

  9. Another one.

Almost, if not more than 9 years ago, I remember going to Cincinnati for a friends wedding. We stayed at my cousin's house for the weekend for it. They had pretty much all consoles at the time, N64, Playstation, P.C., etc. But I remember playing WWF vs. NWO with them, then Goldeneye. But it was that night I discovered Metal Gear Solid for the first time. I didn't necessarily play it. But I watched the cutscenes of the game. I was glued to it. I never found a game with such a great action packed story.

But then, he had Parasite Eve. I played that one the most. He hated it because he got stuck in the beginning, but I persevered, and got him through it. He got WAAAY further after I had showed him how to unlock the door to the dressing room (the very beginning), and it was just such a cool game. The science in the story, the cutscenes (especially the one where they're evacuating New York), just awesome.

  10. I just thought of another memory I had, not necessarily my strongest, but it's a good one.

Back when Hurricane Katrina ran through, me and two friends went to do relief work.

My friend's daughter decided to let me go in her place instead, and we went off to Biloxi Mississippi to help out there (we couldn't get into New Orleans).

But I distinctly remember playing Metroid Prime Pinball on the way there, not to mention playing Astro Boy Omega Factor for GBA. When we first got there, we set up our camper a couple of miles from the station we were set at.

Overall, I didn't play much games on the trip, I mean, we were there to help out, but I do remember reading the Astro Boy Manga the first day we got there, and me listening to my two discs of Blink 182's greatest hits, and Johnny Cash Live At Folsom Prison while playing those games. That was a long trip there and back.

Man, I'd give ANYTHING to go back and do that all over again. That was an experience you just don't forget there.

Sorry, that was more of a reflection on other stuff than playing games. But it was good times nonetheless.

  11. I can understand fixing major things, like Mark Hamill shouting "Carrie!" (which I think was fixed in the rerelease). Color correcting and changing the score seems a little overboard and more of a personal preference thing.

I also agree that adding the duel song to the Obi Wan / Vader fight is just plain wrong. It was scored for an epic showdown, not 2 old guys fighting at a snails pace. :-P

I agree about the snails pace, but it seems like he sped the film up.

This is just a fan edit, there's hundreds of them. And in some cases, it's actually made some films better...

  12. I have to say that adding music to the duel between Ben and Vader only detracts from it.

It can be argued that by omitting any scoring while they are trading blows, it captures the understated idea that Ben fully expects to depart from that plane of existence, and is merely buying time.

Originally there was silence save for the effects of the lightsabers striking each other, Vader's respirator, and the dialogue; the music doesn't return until the end of the duel, that signifies the emotional sting of shock and horror experienced by Luke at watching his mentor die.

    So...yeah.

I'm going to be a purist in this instance and say "what the balls was this guy thinking?"

I agree that there probably wasn't a need to put the music in, I thought it was kind of neat though. But overall, I'm eager to see what this guy is doing to Empire, and Jedi.

Maybe he'll do the prequels next. But the Phantom Edit is the definitive cut of Episode I. Not to mention Attack of The Phantom, aka Episode II.

  13. I'm not one to start talking about Star Wars, or the original trilogy for that matter, mostly because I didn't grow up with it (grew up with the Prequels). But I still enjoy all of them.

So, didn't like the 2004 DVD edits of the original Star Wars Trilogy did you?

    Well, you're in luck.

One man, has gone through EXTENSIVE care (2 years!!!), and has redone Episode IV: A New Hope. Sure, some changes are not significant, you probably won't notice all of them, but this guy has done the ultimate fan service that Lucas didn't.

    Example...

He added the Anakin vs. Obi Wan music from Episode III, fixed the Sabers colors (Vader's is no longer Pink, and the flashes aren't yellow looking splotches), and the Tie Fighter dog fight has a more intense feel...

A cut scene he did himself, and would have been interesting to see, if not funny for the Jar Jar haters...

This link is his current work in progress, The Empire Strikes Back

Massive Color Correction. Eliminating a lot of the blue effect. Honestly, that really didn't bug me. Neither did the whole Green tinting to the Dagobah shots in the old edition.

Notice the small touches to Yoda's mouth, to make it seem that he's saying the lines...

Easy to find A New Hope re-edited, just look on bit torrent sites, they're bound to have them. But make sure you at least have the original DVD copies, the guy who did this pleads with all the ones that get this.

And I hope I don't sound like a walking ad here...

  14. I really don't know about this movie, honestly, I could care less. I've seen Cowboy Bebop from start to finish. I hated the ending, I felt like I wasted my time watching it. It was a well made anime, I love the music, and it's overall style. But I just don't care for that ending.

This is just my opinion on it, you don't have to like it.

In regards to Shia Lebouf? I really hope he calms down the amount of movies he's in, he's gonna turn into Samuel L. Jackson, and what I mean by that, is that he'll be in every single film he can get his hands on, and just slowly become an irritant to cinema. Neither are bad actors, but they really need to just slow it down. Then again, that's really the media's fault of overexposure I guess.

I guess the easiest way to not support this movie would be to not see it right? And, ah forget it. Cause honestly, unless it looks interesting, I'd rather just pay a buck to rent it.
