  1. Hi I'm new in the forum and this is the first remix I share with you. I tried to respect the bassline of the original song but to make all the track more upbeat. Also I've tried to make it sound "retro" like thos 80's 90's remixes. I hope you like it, and sorry if I make your ears bleed, I suck at mixing. Here's the link.
  2. So one day OCRE was showing me his piano arrangements and I HAD to make a trance remix out of this one... Please provide feedback and any arrangement ideas would be nice. It's kind of bare bones right now and I'm trying to figure out where to take this.
  3. I finally had a chance to start back working on this extremely old project. Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UGVg8XT8mM I am trying to go for a hip-hop/R&B style, but I think its kind rough right now. WIP: http://www.mediafire.com/?48qyq3kbwq9menu I'm having a difficult time deciding what leads to use. I'm definitely open for suggestions.
  4. these are only very short demos right now. I just thought of and recorded this. I'm curious what people think of it being in 5/4. You won't recognize the source at first. This is part of a larger medley. The medley combines the three different versions of Nanaki's theme from the game. This except is of the part when you first meet him, then it goes into the main theme after and fades out. It's only guitar and banjo right now. it's just a sample I guess ... edit: deku tree: nanaki, starts at 0:38: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EC5ZbIvQRjU
  5. started this on this turkey day. whaddaya think? Freefall? Amazing! enjoy.
  6. I really, really loved Beware the Forest Mushrooms from Super Mario RPG, and I have been trying to get better at music creation, so I thought I would do a remix of it. It can be found here. I'd really appreciate comments, as this is my first ReMix. Thank you for reading!
  7. Some of you may remember this WIP from a while back. I had to stop working on it for a little while for many reasons, but I finally got back to it and got to the end. I'll update a little later with a breakdown of theme use, but for now know that it is based entirely off of and the from Zelda: Majora's Mask.0:00 - 0:20: Piano notes are Song of Healing beginning backwards. 0:20 - 0:38: Brass parts are Majora's Theme straight through, verbatim but with changed rhythm. Song of Healing interjections. 0:39 - 0:55: Song of Healing chords 0:55 - 1:10: Song of Healing melody harmonized 1:12 - 1:57: Majora's Theme, pretty straightforward statement 1:57 - 2:10: Development of piano motif, based on Song of Healing 2:11 - 2:38: Majora's Theme inverted 2:38 - 3:02: Strings are tapping Song of Healing 3:03 - 3:23: Piano is playing Song of Healing, but repeating each melodic unit. 3:23 - 3:30: Brass is playing around with Majora's Theme melodic material 3:30 - 3:58: Bass line is Majora's Theme, unchanged 3:58 - 4:19: Trumpet is playing second part of the Song of Healing 4:19 - 4:27: Brief Majora use in brass 4:27 - 4:42: Strings are playing the beginning of Majora's Theme with an added note 4:42 - 4:54: Combination of the starts of both themes in the strings (don't expect anyone to notice) 4:55 - 5:16: Majora's Theme with Healing interjections, ends with Song of Healing 5:20 - 5:46: Song of Healing, Both the piano repetitions and the single notes of the melody (omitting a few) interspersed in piano. I don't expect everyone to hear all of it, but the themes are crucial and always present in some form or another. I do not want every statement to be perfectly clear--this is an arrangement, so neat uses of the melody are important to me. Things on my checklist currently: Some leveling. Some EQ, etc. to decrease any mud. Let me know what you think and what I can do to improve it! Click here to listen to Majora8.mp3
  8. Here's a Sonic 2 remix. I need a guitar solo or some kind of instrument solo between 1:30 and 2:02 if anyone wants to collab. Arrangement wise i'm where I want to be. Let me know why you think so far and provide feedback.
  9. Hello all, I haven't submitted an OCReMiX since 2005 (argh!) so I'm working on several ideas at the moment. One of them is a remix from that particulartheme from Dune, which has one of the best FM soundtracks ever in my opinion. The original can be heard here: The latest WIP is here: http://www.xavierdang.com/dump2010/mv_-_dune_remix_alpha02.mp3 Style is ambient/glitch IDM. It is maybe a bit too conventional right now, so I might edit things already present. Also I have to work on more interesting glitch effect on the drums and reduce the decay on most drum hits that glitch. Anyway feel free to comment and critique, thanks for your time!
  10. I've got a new arrangement done (probably 95% finished) for my brass quintet. I decided to start up an old project of mine that had been stewing for a while, and I'm really, really glad I did. Thus far I've found that the Legend of Mana soundtrack adapts well to live brass, so I have high hopes for this arrangement. Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cn0CZfeJ3Hc I haven't quite decided if this should be a standalone arrangement or if it should be part of a medley. If I were to work in other songs, I'd probably try and see if I could adapt Southern City Polpota, City of Flickering Destruction/Those Who are Shining, and maybe even Irwin on Reflection. The quintet is rehearsing tonight and hopefully our sight-reading of it will be good enough that I'll feel comfortable posting it. Anyway, link to the midi-rendition: New version, from 11-17-10 rehearsal. Sight-reading is fun!
  11. I've done picked up some new influences and inspiration so I decided to work on this when I had the idea in my head. The name? Well for one I named it after one of my friend's alias, but I also believe that it accurately describes the song: It's energetic, but at the same time it's got a nice, sweet flow, like juice lol =D. Anyways have a listen and tell me what you guys think so far. Juuuiiiccee!!
  12. http://tindeck.com/listen/utjn I thought I'd mess around with three of my favorite Legend of Zelda songs on the piano. This is what I've come up with so far. The songs are Tal Tal Heights from Link's Awakening, Dark World theme from Link to the Past, and Song of Storms from OoT. I know there are no dynamics yet; I haven't added many. Tell me what ya'll think. BTW, I'm using Finale SongWriter 2007, so it's not the best of quality. Here's the checklist for copying purposes. I marked a few I thought applied to it already. ARRANGEMENT / INTERPRETATION [ ] Too conservative - sticks too close to the source [ ] Too liberal - not enough connections to the source (too much original writing) [ ] Too much direct sampling from original game audio [ ] Borrows heavily from non-source material (eg. a theme from a movie) PRODUCTION [ ] Too loud [x] Too quiet [ ] Low-quality samples [ ] Unrealistic sequencing [ ] Generic/cliche sound choices [ ] Drums have no energy [x] Overcompressed (pumping/no dynamics) [ ] Mixing is muddy (eg. too many sounds in the same range) PERFORMANCE (live recorded audio/MIDI parts) [ ] Timing not tight enough [ ] Wrong notes, general sloppiness [x] Poorly recorded [ ] Bad intonation STRUCTURE [ ] Lacks coherence overall (no "flow") [x] Not enough changes in sounds (eg. static texture, not dynamic enough) [ ] Pace too plodding [ ] Too repetitive [ ] Too short [ ] Abrupt ending PERSONAL COMMENTS (positive feedback, specifics on checklist criticisms, any other thoughts) [write here]
  13. Here is a work-in-progress remix of Rom Di Prisco's "Romulus 3" from the NFSIII (and NFSII) soundtrack. Romulus 3.mp3

  15. I've been working on this remix for a while, what do you guys think?
  16. Hi, Quite tired of working on Final Fantasy since my last arrangement, I was doing so impro on Robotnik's theme on the piano, with mic open. This is an early and quite bad record, but still I need advices : Do you think I could do something with it, should I work a Robotnik piano arrangement that way ? Thanx a lot in advance : Early WiP : http://temp.khemael.net/eggmanimpr.mp3 Edit 1 : Just like I did with "FFVI World of Decision" WiP, I'll post the work as it is being improved every time for new feedback. *"official-I-do-Think-It's-final" Intro + first part : http://temp.khemael.net/khemael-eggman_tears-Intro_and_first_part.mp3
  17. Hello everyone! I'm new to this site and new to the whole remixing. I've been slowly trying to learn how to make songs with computer and this WIP song is one of the songs I've put together during the process. Since I'm new to this whole composing business, I'd like to get some hardcore feedback on what to improve. Positive feedback is also welcome if deserved. It's the Hymn of the Fayth from Final Fantasy X. I got inspired by the melody and thought I'd make my own version of it, adding more instruments to it and stuff. You can listen the song here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5912277/raakile.mp3 Thank you in advance for your feedback! -Daniel PS. Link to the original song:
  18. I am working on composing this intro for my friends video game that he is making. I am using all midi instruments, and in the process of really homing in on note choice right now between the different instruments. What do you guys think should be different? Anything you like about it? or anything other feedback would help this process a lot. Thanks! http://soundcloud.com/chunkybeef31/intro-for-video-game
  19. Here's an updated version of my Mario Kart 64 WIP mix of Rainbow Road. I should just focus on this instead of like two projects at once, so I think I'll just work on this for a while. http://www.tindeck.com/listen/jdmo
  20. Original: Please note: This is the first time that I'm making a dubstep song in Logic, so don't expect really high-end stuff. That said, I have had a fair amount of good feedback from people who are more experienced in making it. Link to most recent Demo Now, I will admit that, for the time being, it's very basic. But, dubstep usually tends to be. There is a section in the chorus (~1:00) where it the time signature goes all wacky, but that's how I roll: I'm heavily inspired by a lot of prog music: I've done a dance song in 5/4, a metal track in 9/8; I'm not one to keep to tradition. That said, the original track changes time signature (from 4/4 to 6/4); I just went a little further (5/4, 6/4, 5/4, 8/4, 2/4) I'm guessing that this track might be put down a little for using the actual source music at the start, but that's only to serve as a first build-up; a WIP this may be, but that's the only place it'll be at. I might put a couple filters on it to disguise it; I'm not entirely sure. All that said and done, enjoy.
  21. Hi guys! New here, amazed by the quality of OCremixers out there! Some people are so talented... Anyways! I wanted to share a project I have been working on for a month or so, which consists in writing alternate melodies and ambient phrases to accompany the mmo FFXIV, whose beautiful areas provided me with some inspiration (hopefully). I'd like to share it as I'm relatively new at composing and am therefore craving for some mentorship, technically just as much as artiscally speaking! Just one word about those, they are pretty spread out in rhythym, insofar as taking into account the scope of a MMO, it had to be somewhat slow-paced so not to get too tiresome over time. Which is why it may feel a little empty sometimes. Some of the feedback I got from some people is it's nicely suited as background while doing homework or such Cheers and thanks for listening:)! Feedback much much appreciated! 22. I made a video game type song, with a rock sound. I would really appreciate any feedback you guys have since this song is not done. This song definitely needs....something. I know in the middle part I am going to put a solo, but have no got around to it. Help me out! p.s. Does anyone know how I can get the actual hardware sounds of the genesis/nes/super nes. What do I do? I have no clue how I would do that, because plugins are never %100 accurate. http://soundcloud.com/chunkybeef31/vg-6
  23. I'm working on an orchestrated version of the Forever Forest theme, and here's what I have so far. I haven't added the brass yet (bad composer, bad!), and the ending is a little rough, but I thought I'd throw this up here to get some comments and suggestions. Thanks!
