lazygecko Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 http://www.tmz.com/2009/12/29/blackstreet-singer-accused-of-rock-band-attack/ I clicked the article expecting more zany VG violence news... except the offender in question is Teddy Riley :-/ He is just cited as a singer from Blackstreet, but he was more than that. He was a producer and pretty much single-handedly changed the face of R&B and pop music during the late 80's and 90's. He also made Dangerous, Keep It In The Closet and Jam for Michael Jackson, and in turn was likely involved with Sonic 3 in some capacity. I pretty much idolized the guy. Up until this tragic incident. He had also produced for Bobby Brown who was a notorious wife-beater. Quote
Salluz Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 If it is true then by all means, forget that bastard. Also, Whitney should have never married Bobby Brown. Quote
DCT Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 So it's true...video games DO bring about violence! Quote
Salluz Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 So it's true...video games DO bring about violence! Yes, which explains Columbine and the college shooting that the Asian guy did, and of course his being Asian links to his love for video games! Quote
Strike911 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 yes, which explains columbine and the college shooting that the asian guy did, and of course his being asian links to his love for video games! My GOD! YOU'RE ON TO SOMETHING HERE! Quote
1337 1 Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 My GOD! YOU'RE ON TO SOMETHING HERE! And let's not forget how anyone who plays MW2 is clearly a terrorist who kills civilians. AND playing mario games leads to drug addiction. Hmm. It does not look good. Quote
TheSnowStorm Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 I once choke my friend with a XBOX controller cord. Lookin at about 25 to life everyone! But hey! On the bright side, this does help bring Blackstreet back in the media! Quote
djpretzel Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 In the documents, filed in L.A. County Superior Court, Taja claims at one point Teddy, "lifted a Rock Band guitar and threatened to kill person(s) w/ it."That's why I never play on expert...This is like a love-fest for those "Concerned Parents of America" type groups, because they can villainize video games AND rock music at the SAME TIME. Bonus. Irony points if "Don't Look Back in Anger" was playing at the time. Also, yeah... identifying Teddy Riley as "'Blackstreet' Singer" is like calling Paul McCartney "That guy from 'Wings'"... And, finally: I'm guessing his daughters did NOT like the way he was working it. That's it, I'm out. Also domestic violence is never funny. Except, in this instance, it kinda is. Quote
Shadix Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 What... Teddy... Why... I absolutely love Teddy Riley. I don't understand why he would do this. He always seems so calm and collected. edit: http://www.tmz.com/2009/12/30/blackstreet-singer-teddy-riley-daughters-statement-apology-i-would-never-beat-my-kids?icid=sphere_tmzcom_inline This seems more in character but I dunno, only time will tell I guess. I really hope he didn't do this. Quote
The Damned Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 This is a video game site, and not one of you thought of this? Fucking shame on all of you. Music? Weapon? Video game? None of you? No one? Quote
The Coop Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 This is a video game site, and not one of you thought of this? Fucking shame on all of you. Music? Weapon? Video game? None of you? No one? Because most of us had shut that horrid game's existence out of our memories. Quote
Poke'G Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Hey, that game was fun! The ports were shitty as Hell, but I always enjoy finding a working arcade cabinet. Quote
Nareusm Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 Well then, seems like his star power worked against him >_> Quote
