The People's Remix Competition 266

PRCv11-06

Hello everyone and welcome to the People's Remix Competition!

Last round was not the biggest PRC round ever. GrapplingHook managed to get a song in, but since he was the only one who entered, he won by default. It was the second time MMZX was covered in PRC, and the second time that no voting stage was needed to declare the winner. So no Mega Man this time.:-)

I choose Super Bomberman's boss theme. Available as a midi here: http://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/snes/Super_Bomberman_1_Boss.mid

although they don't allow direct linking, so you'll have to click once to get to it.

Let me know if you need more/different material/links (or if the song HAS been done and I just didn't see it).

ThaSauce link: Click here to submit

If anyone has problems with registering or uploading the song to ThaSauce, please upload the song somewhere else and post a download link in the thread. I recommend Soundcloud. Remember to have a download link to the song, so I can upload the song to ThaSauce.

GOOD LUCK!

PRC instructions

  1. Limitations at ThaSauce require your entry to be 20 MB or less in size. Length for length's sake and MIDI rips are not allowed (only as Bonus Mixes). If anyone has problems with uploading songs to ThaSauce let me know (in this thread) and post a download link to your song in this thread (so I can upload it to ThaSauce).
  2. Entries must be posted in the ThaSauce link by WEDNESDAY March 19th 2014 at 10:59 am ThaSauce time: check my signature (below) or the ThaSauce page for the exact time left. Extended with two days!
  3. You may enter as many mixes as you like and work with as many people as you like on each mix. You are free to create a second ThaSauce account for that, it's needed to be able to upload a second remix. You can also post the song in this thread if that doesn't work. Then I'll make sure it works.
  4. Do not make qualitative comments on an entry until the results of the vote have been posted in this thread.
  5. Mixers cannot vote for themselves but if they vote they recieve a free first place vote added onto their score.
  6. The winner of this round may select the source for PRC267.
  7. The winner of PRC266, GrapplingHook, cannot take part in this round, however he is free to submit a Bonus Mix.
  8. You can find the full rules list at this page as well.

Probably everyone is busy with other contests / projects / life. I hope at least someone manages to get something in (even if it's unfinished). I might extend it.

EDIT: Extended with two days. If nobody else submits, GrapplingHook will be allowed to pick a source again since he submitted a bonus mix for this round.

If another bonus mix will be posted (2 bonus, no regular), that person will select the next source. If three or more people submit a bonus mix (without a regular entry), something special will happen.

I decided to take a few hours today to try and learn the basics of eurobeat, and somehow ended up with a remix of this.

To prevent confusion I want to say that my username on ThaSauce (Electrolisystem) is an old, old, old username, and I would change it if I could.

try and learn the basics of eurobeat

That's actually something I have interest in, but little idea where to pick it up. I've seen some isolated "here's how to do this very small bit here" stuff, but nothing about what all the ingredients are.

And I've tried following three different tutorials, but I cannot for the life of me get the "eurobeat lead" sound.

You're definitely on the right track.

thanks!

Here's something I had found yesterday.

The most helpful link for me was the DJ Command link. I honestly would not have even attempted it if I hadn't found this, maybe it can help you too. You don't need to have Massive either (which he uses in one of the tutorials) but having some knowledge of massive is helpful when translating his tutorial over to other synths.

I can change the authors of songs, so I can change that the remixer name is Anorax instead of Electrolisystem, but I cannot edit your account so that you can log in with that name.

Isn't it possible to create a new account? Otherwise you could try to contact Ramaniscence, or just keep Electrolisystem.:)

I just realized that ThaSauce uses a different time (it ended 1 hour earlier as last time), I edited it so that there's still one hour. I didn't know ThaSauce uses daylight saving (or something like that) in this period. In the Netherlands it happens next week in the weekend.

Welcome to the voting stage

The mixing stage is over. This round has 2 songs and 1 Bonus Mix. To vote, do the following:

- Visit the stated ThaSauce Page and listen to all the entries

- Scroll to the form at the bottom of the screen.

- Fill in the rank of the entries from first to second. Leave the third box empty.

- State a reasoning for it.

- Participants are encouraged to vote and leave feedback. However, they may not vote for themselve, so they only need to fill in one name. Their vote will not affect the results since they get a free first place bonus if they vote. Non participants are encouraged to vote to decide the winner and leave comments.

GrapplingHook has a vote that counts twice.

You have until THIS Friday, March 21st 11:59 am (originally it was 10:59 am) ThaSauce time to vote, check my signature in the first post or simply the ThaSauce page for the exact time you have.

The winner gets the right to choose the source tune for PRC267.

Check the ThaSauce Page to vote.

The US just recently moved to daylight savings time (two saturdays ago I think?), and if I'm not mistaken ThaSauce is based off of the PST/PDT timezone. I'm pretty sure it's possible to create another account, but I'm a bit too lazy for that right now :P

I have to say, I had fun making this arrangement. I need to participate here more. Maybe there's a bigger turnout next time!

Seems like I lost count of the days. I'll post a link to the snippet I've made in a few minutes, perhaps Bundeslang can add it as a bonus to the round.

It's there. I used the MnP compo to upload the track and changed it to this round, so thanks to Hoboka for having MnP running to make this possible.

Thanks for the information. It always confuses me every year. As mentioned before, in the Netherlands daylight savings starts next saturday (29 March), meaning that I can keep the original ThaSauce time deadlines (10:59 AM) since the deadline of the next round will be on the 31st of March.

It's results time.

Total number of mixes - 2 (+ 2 Bonus)

Total number of votes - 4

Maximum Score - 13 (4 * 3 + 1 Bonus for GrapplingHook's vote).

GrapplingHook and Evktalo submitted a nice Bonus Mix.

Chickenwarlord posted one of the shortest mixes ever, he collected 9 points and gets the last place wooden spoon.

And the winner of PRC266 by unanimous decision is Anorax (Electrolisystem) with 13 points.

Congratulations Anorax, you have won this round by unanimous decision. The 26 second competition wasn't able to stop you.

You may select a source for PRC267. Send your source to me (with a MID/MP3 file, otherwise send a second source with a MID file) by PM, other options are PM me @ ThaSauce or by e-mailing to bambombim@gmail.com (I prefer a PM @Ocremix).

You may select any source from any game, as long as it doesn't have an Overclocked Remix and it hasn't been on PRC before. Check it at the list:

http://sites.google.com/site/bambombim/prc

http://bambombim.googlepages.com/PRCRemixList.doc (also downloadable via the link above).

Send your source as fast as you can, but before this Sunday, 23rd of March 2014.

You can find the votes with comments here:
