OUT NOW ON OVERCLOCKED RECORDS: Sonic the Hedgehog "Green Hill Sessions" by Jivemaster!!

ghs-cover1b-s.jpg

Jivemaster's Sonic the Hedgehog arrangement album the Green Hill Sessions is out now on OverClocked Records!

12 tracks clocking in at just over 37 mins. Every song gets remixed. Think of the breakbeats. The nostalgia. The jivey-ness. You know you want it.

Special thanks to Mike "Sir_NutS" Molina and Matt "SuperiorX" Keller for all their help and guidance during this insane time. Couldn't have done it without yas!

I would also like to thank Andrew Aversa, David Lloyd, Larry Oji and the rest of the OverClocked Records staff for this amazing opportunity and for all their hard work promoting the album. It means a lot.

And of course a huge thanks to Sami "TheSmai" Briggs for her amazing artwork which helped me drive this home to completion.

Listen to the entire album on SoundCloud. Let us know what you think! Share with your friends and all that!

I have a question. How is it possible to charge money on remixed music such as this? Did you have to have a contract with Sega to give a portion of the sales to them? Otherwise Sega may pursue legal actions, no? Just curious.

Really? This is the first response to this thread? It's called "licensing."

ANYWAY--the previews sound super great, Jivemaster. I'll mosdef be picking this up once I'm not flat broke. The first Sonic game always was my favorite as far as the music goes.

EDIT: Also, your new take on Scrap Brain sounds marvelous. I think your old "Particle Brain" remix was one of the first I ever heard on this site forever and a day ago. Much love.

I'm sorry if I have no experience in publishing music for profit based upon themes created by someone else. I was just curious so please lighten up. It is just that I did not notice any credit given to Masato Nakamura or Sega on the album's page at overclockedrecords.com. I listened through most of the album on SoundCloud and it does sound nice. I have always liked Jivemaster remixes.

I have listened to way too much Overclocked Remix music over the years and I love it! And I especially like your stuff Beatdrop. ;)

It actually is mentioned right in the album description on OCRecords. Sorry if I came off as harsh, I was just surprised to see that the only post in this thread so far didn't even mention the music, only the legality. You're right, I forget that not everyone who frequents this site is going to be acquainted with the term "licensing."

No problem. I enjoy the work that OverClocked Remixers do. I have worked on a few arrangements/remixes myself but none are of the quality needed to be submitted, lol.

Hey Beatdrop, many thanks for the kind words. You're an OCReMix god so it truly means a lot. The new Scrap Brain mix has definitely come a long way in comparison to 'ol Particle Brain. Certainly a lighter take on the source but I'm quite happy with it, especially the chorus, which sounded very Bis to me after I was finished. A happy mistake. ;)

Valid question SegaMon - we're complete legit as Beatdrop mentioned. Roughly the same kinda deal that was done for Mega Man Everlasting Peace. You can be sure the original composer gets their deserved royalties from each and every sale.

Thanks for answering my question. Thanks for sharing your talents with your awesome and artistic remix of one of my most favorite games!

Many thanks Timaeus, I know what you mean about it sounding like me - that's a great thing I think. Some people out there find it difficult to find a musical identity, I'm lucky enough to have found my niche, regardless of how small it is ;)

Yes I do tend to go crazy with the arrangement at times, however they wouldn't be Jivemaster tracks without some level of cray being involved ;)

Not bad at all. Some of the arrangements are pretty nice. Some tracks like Green Hill are complete standouts, while others feel average. The album feels pretty cohesive and is a fun listen, but that price is a bit steep. ^_^'

Sweet work! Definitely worth a listen.

Thanks K-wix. As with solo albums like this, sometimes it can be difficult to get the inspiration needed to hit up every track with equal force, particularly where you favour some sources over others, which is why it took so long to complete the album. However I think it turned out pretty well. Any tracks in particular you're not happy with? Most Jivemaster tracks can be love/hate, due to the DJ mashup nature of them.

As far as price goes, the majority of the remix albums out there go for $10 on Loudr and other outlets. Considering this is a full cohesive album covering the whole OST, it's arguably worth it. ;)

The album is very, very good. If you haven't listened to it yet, stop what you're doing and go give it a listen! Very nice job, Jivemaster! :)

Many thanks for the kind words Chern, means a lot bro! ;)
