Ivan Hakštok
So, the next month's theme on Dwelling of Duels is something really different, and it would be cool if lots of OCR people entered! Next Month is... Jazz Month! The banner is by fedde of Game-Art HQ Any game can be covered but the arrangement must be jazzy. Some defining elements of Jazz are improvisation (you don't need to actually improvise, make it sound that way), syncopation, swing, use of modes. List of jazz styles. Songs are due: June 26th, 2PM EST Send your entries to dodsongs@gmail.com Previous month's results are on the main page: http://dwellingofduels.net/ Black_Doom
Chernabogue
Nice theme! Hope PuD will enter with a new swing metal remix. Also, congrats, Ivan
Brandon Strader
Interesting theme, it's going to be Hat and XPRTNovice month.... lets see if the very limited theme pays off.
Ivan Hakštok
Interesting theme, it's going to be Hat and XPRTNovice month.... lets see if the very limited theme pays off. I don't think it's limited. It's basically a Free Month without metal/djent/rock or anything heavy. Jazz is a broad term, and if we're going by that Wikipedia list, stuff like swing, bebop, blues, jazz funk and jazz fusion are all allowed. There were tons of entries in the last few months that qualify for the criteria. If you have a song idea but aren't sure if it qualifies or not, I suggest finding a song in similar style and pm-ing streifig on the DoD forums: http://dwellingofduels.net/forum/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=
Jorito
Cool banner, digging the Sam & Max appearance I'm no instrumentalist and have no feeling for jazz, but good luck to the participants!
Ivan Hakštok
If you need some inspiration, check out the stuff in the jazz thread here: http://ocremix.org/community/topic/38145-jazz-appreciation-thread-anyone/ And one important thing: don't be afraid to collaborate There's lots of good instrumentalists who enter DoD regularly that may not make an entry on their own this month, so if you have a nice jazzy song that lacks a live instrument, just ask around a bit, and I'm sure you'll find someone to do some piano/guitar/trumpet/sax etc for you. Jorito
Well... at this point I'm working on 5 different tracks featuring 9 different people. So I think being afraid to collaborate is not so much of an issue here Incidentally, working on 5 tracks (4 of them with a deadline this month) with so many people and a bit of a holiday in the same month does mean that time is more my problem. If I had a jazzy song lying around, perhaps, but alas...
Wiesty
Sweet. Glad to see some jazz going around! I'd participate but unfortunately I'm pretty swamped trying to get OCR's first jazz album out! That being said, if anyone needs any jazz piano, vibraphone, or drum kit, I might be interested in collabing. Best of luck to the contestants. Ivan Hakštok
We know DoD artist base is mostly rock/metal, so we'll be posting some jazz artists, as well as past jazz remixes and links to articles and resources about jazz on the DoD Facebook page. The goal is to be pretty diverse by posting stuff in different jazz styles and sub-genres, so people can perhaps find something that sounds good to them and make an entry in that style. We've already kicked off with everyone's favorite japanese jazz fusion band, T-Square https://www.facebook.com/dwellingofduels/posts/950414771646702
DrumUltimA
well, too bad my jazz trio is like completely separated this month
YoshiBlade
Hmmm...well I have a jazz template of Starman Theme ( very simple, mostly backing, but well produced) that has been gathering dust for sometime. If I've piqued any interest, PM me and I'll send a link.
